Rat28 - AWE OBC - Iroquois

Barring something crazy happening, the GLib should be ours in 4 turns. It should pay off immediately, CivAssist 2 showed we are down 3-4 techs to everyone we know. It's well worth getting when tech trading is not an option. Once we can get 3 turn MW's flowing out of Salamanca, we can recoup our losses quickly. Another army will be really nice as a benefit of grabbing 2 more cities. Go get 'em!

i'm still weak but getting better. hope i can catch up with work until my next turnset.

it appears you guys have taken good care of our empire during the delicate glib time. :goodjob:

When I got home last night the internet wasn't working. It looked like things were ok on my end so I am hoping it was a temporary glitch on theirs and I can play tonight. If it is still down tonight, it is likely I will need at least a swap and will need to call my service.

So I still got it for now and really hope to start tonight.....

Preturn: Looking good.

70 AD: Kill some minor units. Going to allow the Egyptian Settler to live and head north.

90 AD: Army has headed N to get those cities.

110 AD: Sumer city making or contains longbows - killed 2 so far. Science off - we will get the GLIB next turn.

IBT: Get GLIB.

130 AD: Army captures Kaminaljuyu - rename to Northwoods.

150 AD: More units are coming at us. We finished GLIB just in time.

170 AD: Capture Pyongsong renamed Pondsong

Build 2nd Army. Kill off 3 of the 7 Korean Archers next to our city. Our elite Archer lost to a 3 HP Archer but bringing it to 1 HP. 3 more are all healthy.

190 AD: Der continues to pump out Longbows at a very fast rate - every 2 turns or so we kill a third. Must be rushing them. I have to really scramble and use a 2 HP MW to block a Horse that could otherwise take a town. Its the only way to keep our Lux and the town.

IBT: 2 HP Horse loses agains our sacrificial MW.

230 AD: Capture Der

250 AD: Have to expose a MW as Pondsong is lacking a defender.

Notes:
Had to raise Lux last turn because capitol is down to 1 defender.
I was sending around Elite* army to join 2 unit army.
So we picked up 3 more towns and 2 workers.
Techwise we got all the first line of techs Feudalism, Engineering, and Monotheism. AI seems to be advancing in tech pretty quickly.
I would revolt soon. Things are looking more under control but we are still a few units short from guarding all towns.

:goodjob: I hope the Glib saved us here. Things look pretty tight and I can see quite a few settlements to the north.

We should nab them in time. As usual Sumer as agri looks big and mighty. We have to take them on once we are stronger.

Got it.

Preturn
will wait with revolt maybe 2 turns, we should also build some culture to get better tiles within our borders

IT we lose exposed MW

1.260AD
defeat 1 LB

2.270AD
defeat spear and archer and decide to revolt, get 5 turns anarchy

3. 280AD
Sumer have chivalry now
take out 3 Korean archer and 1 LB from Sumer

4. 290AD
prepare to take out Egypt city, incense is connected
take out 1 EW

5. 300AD
take out 3 Egypt archers and attack El-Almara taking ou 2 spears. leave the rest alone as there is an archer next to it

IT Egypt archer attacks and loses aginst MW on a mountain
more enemy units come close

6. 310AD
lose 1 MW but manage to take El-Amara
take out 1 Korean archer, take out 3 LBs and 1 spear next to Agade, there are 3 Egypt archers left though

IT Egypt loses 2 arches but take out 1 spear, we get the FP message

7. 320AD
things do look bleak in the south, no action this round though

IT more enemies

8. 330AD
Inchon is on 10spt now and we can make 2 turn spears, important really
defeat a Mayan settler trio and 1 Korean archer

9. 340AD
one more Korean archer bites the dust and a Sumer LB/EW

IT Sumer comes in numbers with 4 LB's

10. 1800AD
take out Korean spear and Sumer LB in the north and gain another MGL
what are we going to do with it? Rush HE for some border expansion?

take out 4 LB's and 2 Korean archers in the south

The Roster:
TheRat
el_filet - can you take the game over the weekend?
TheOverseer
Cerenkov -MIA
Greebley

Looks good! BTW, bless you for renaming the unpronounceable Maya city, I hate writing some of those city names. I think EL Filet might want to build some workers, our new larger core is a bit underdeveloped. Get that going, and then we can start a buildup for offensive action and get back to kicking butt soon.

Edit: We have 11 cities? In that case a 3rd Army taking another city? I think we can take the one to the west. It is isolated.

Otherwise I agree with FP.

I guess I would try to simply our front line by continuing to take cities up north. Use one Army for that and the other on defense.

had a quick look at the game, mainly to check the year ;)

we sure have the units for another army, but i guess you counted the colony. with 10 cities and just a single city in reach (unless the ones north have grown already), i wouldn't wait for an army.

HE and army are good options, but i still favour fp. won't play before tomorrow, hope to hear some opinions until then.

Greebley most likely mistook the colony for a city...go for the FP, we need a good city down south

so we're set on fp, i take it agade is the place to go.

got cought up watching hockey, will play this tomorrow. sorry for the delay.

Turn 0 (350 AD):
everything seems fine.
rush spear in agade for 24g

IBT:
mayans send stack of units toward hyangsan

Turn 1:
kill some units. one of them protected the settler i wanted to let go trough :wallbash:
hurry fp

IBT:
sumers destroy improvments near agade and mayans land next to northwood. should have expected that, but sent our mw toward kua last turn
agade: fp->mw

Turn 2:
got lucky, killing the jt with our archer
destroy stack, more units on their way

Turn 3:
take unnecessary risk leaderfishing and lose eMW
lose another (*) in attempt to capture kua

Turn 4:
another ew rushed in kua, still not ours
tempted to move agade army north to take these towns, but don't want to risk our frontline
hope we're ready to go after sumerians before their cities are protected by pikes. on the other hand, koreans have swords. we could use iron...anyway, i take care of the north first.

Turn 5:
fail to kill lb threatening agade :(

IBT:
lose spear in agade

Turn 6:
capture kua
expose mw peeking toward egyptian city up north. the koreans founded there too, btw

IBT:
mw wins
another mayan stack moving toward us

Turn 7:
bombarding the settler escort was a bad idea, he rests now
sneak in market in salamanca

IBT:
our galley gets bombarded

Turn 8:
galley down to one hp, send it back for repairs
miscalculated crop near ineh'on, switch it to market too

IBT:
mayans go after lazapa now, moved mw in position before

Turn 9:
the mw yes, but not the pults. all of them miss. cover army in front of jt (had to kill that darn mi) with spear.
if it weren't for the leader, that would have been a bad turn ;)
the mayan settler is returning, capture him

IBT:
we get civalry
koreans start knights templar

Turn 10:
find byblos up north. walls and a spear, hope the 2.5 mw are enough (lb was in the way)
overlook archer under spear and expose mw, cover with spear

notes:

did a bad job getting kua (to name one stupid mistake), we should have byblos already. always listen to greebely and use the army...
leader in hyangsan can hopefully be used for army soon.
lots of mayan units in the east, not so much to do on sumer front.
built and captured some workers, think we are good when the one in northwood is finished too.
i'm not too happy about starting 2 markets in our best cities, but maybe it's better we wait for attack until north is clear anyway. intended to use chop for mw, now we can invest all this wood into a market.
keep galley away from chengdu when sending it south again

I think once we get all these enemy settlements captured to where our back door is relatively secure, we can go on the offensive. Sounds like our east area is getting a little dicey with swords showing up. Who would have thought Persia was easier than the Iroquois? Any chance of some pictures to help plan my turn-set? Downloaded the save, will begin play tonight.

as mentioned, hope there are enough units for byblos. manp'o should grow soon.

The lack of Iron is going to really hurt us. We need to find it and hope it is not too far away. We should start looking for it whenever we can.

Having sufficient Cats/Trebs will be necessary if we have to kill Pike and MDI/knights.

Also remember a full health MW army can be attacked and killed by attack 4 units. An injured one will be killed by an attack 3 unit.
