Sure!

I mostly judge decades on economics. The 1980's and 1990's were wondrous for economic growth, as compared to the 70's and 00's. Also the geopolitical situation, the 80's and 90's saw the dismantling of the Soviet Union (which I know you disagree with me, that is fine, to each his own.) The 00's saw a rise of terrorism and instability. One of the few good things I kind find with this decade is the expansion of the European Union and the introduction of the Euro as a hard currency.

Well, I have to say one of the best things about this decade is that the prospect of us all being annihilated in a nuclear war is now slim to none, makes quite a dramatic change form when I was growing up.
 
I think this will be remebered as a bad decade for music. Too many bass players playing nothing but root notes. Songs are following too much of a cookie cutter structure. Everything is in 4/4 time. Rap is popular. Exceptions to my whining include Red Hot Chili Peppers and Linkin Park, because the red hot chili peppers have a good bassist and because Linkin Park has combined rapping and turntables with rock in such a beautiful way. I'm sure Rush'es couple of albums this decade were good too but I haven't bothered to check them out.
 
1. Well that's not necessarily bad.
2. Neither is rap.
3. There are some songs not in 4/4, for example From the Inside from Meteora. But mostly, yeah.
4. I predict it will be the same in the next 10 years.

Good
Enlargement of EU, Enlargement of NATO, Prosperity and peace in Euroatlantic countries

Bad
terrorism and war on terrorism, abusing human rights, islamic radicalism and fundamentalism,, unsuccesful democratic movements, olympics in communist china, wars, pirats, earhquakes(especcialy in Asia), remaining opressive regimes.

In comparision with 90s quite bad decade, but 90s were truely great.

Hmmmmm... excluding personal things of course...

The good things:
The really very pleasing US election
The Tories haven't been in power
More outspoken antitheism
Greater emphasis on the importance of the environment
Some rather good entertainment
The news has been pretty interesting (mostly for bad reasons: economy, militarism etc)
Spain winning the Euro footy last year

The bad things:
Two rather unpleasant US elections
'New' Labour have been in power
That terrorism thing
Natural disasters
No really interesting wars for us Westerners to sit and watch unfold on the news

Seriously I didnt cared much about wars in hellholes and they werent anyhow dangerous for my life, unlike current problems.
The important was that era of communism ended and war on terrorism have not came yet. Unbelievable optimistic decade, it was expressed in alll - politics, science, culture...
 
Generally, decade was good.

  • Internet advanced a lot
  • Bittorrent
  • The Pirate Bay
  • A lot of interesting sites about different topics have appeared
  • A lot of cool anime
  • IE started to lose its domination over WWW
  • Linux advanced to the point it can actually be used by human beings
  • Ubuntu!
  • The economy of evil US empire started to fail
  • The unnaturalness of modern economy became obvious
  • Some modest advancement in space exploration, well, it was better than previous decade
  • Russia have started to recover as a state
  • Russia avoided joining WTO (World Trade Organization)
  • Russia joined WTO (World Toilet Organization wiki) :lol:
There were some bad things:

  • Lack of integration between Russia and key post-Soviet republics
  • Ukraine's government foolish actions which may drive the country to bankruptcy and dissolutin
  • Georgian's government gone mad and eating neckties
  • Baltic countries' foolishness
  • US meddled into others' business way too much this decade
  • Instead of doing something useful, US spent its money on Chinese junk, and made a lot of bubbles
  • Science advances were not really satisfying
  • RIAA, MPAA, BSA and others copyright vultures were really annoying
