110 BC (0) - Most amazing news, that was. Vulpecula... dead??? It's like
life means nothing to these pathetic creatures. This is truly disturbing,
and I'm wondering two things: i) were we too kind to these barbarians,
ii) must we take up a lower profile and acknowledge that without our
spaceship and technologies we took for granted, we cannot effectively
wage war from an ancient military perspective? This is what keeps me
up at night, Lejosonga. And you were right, that engineer Smiaas did
rather well with a rough situation. I may have underestimated him as much
as I have the beast-creatures on this planet.
Our assessment of the situation:
Cities: 11. Cities once we've assimilated Riga and Rostov: 13.
HOW they become part of our nation is one thing, but both are right
in the middle of areas we want to settle. So we must *NOT* found any
more cities unless as a direct, in-spot, replacement. (Rostov I would
Military: Weak, weak, weak compared to every other civ except Japan and Zulu.
We have literally only one half the allowed units.
Infrastructure: Not shabby at all, and working on a good 'mix' now.
Score, Power: Lower half of pack, but world is moderately at parity
Culture: surprisingly high! Everyone, including #1 India, is impressed!
Zulus are in awe. This is our early wonder and large number of temples.
Tech: Advisor says somewhat backward but this is nonsense, we're just ONE
tech behind the world, Republic (which we have *NO* interest in!)
Besides we're in the middle ages. Not bad! (We do need Monarchy)
Economy: Poor. Very poor. Going no science will help. Not a single marketplace
in the land, and two lux but not connected to anywhere.
My conclusion. We need to BUILD. Fighting Russia over the two small cities
NOW would be based on testosterone, not logic. The beast creatures thrive on
that hormone, but we do not. More thoughts on those cities in a minute.
We need ...
- to build up our military, with defensive units, to not APPEAR weak. With the
'allowed' units and with our strong culture, no one will dare pick on us.
If we don't correct this, things could get VERY ugly, very quickly.
- to improve relationships in the very short term, while we are this behind.
- to research MONARACHY, a valid govt where can maitain autocratic control
until we can get communism
- to get Apollo on the Forbidden Palace asap
- to crank out WORKERS to add to the 'unit' total to appear strong and to
connect lux and to work the land
- to be patient.
Long term goals. Some day, some time, we shall take Athens and Thebes, and
we shall hold them with a garrison of two dozen troops. This day may be
centuries in coming, but it will happen. And those will be only the FIRST
capitals we shall bring under our dominion.
Lejos, Smiaas, may I present an unusual plan for your consideration. If we
are able to keep peace and build up our culture, I believe the Russia cities
next to us can be 'assimilated' by our mental powers, and can be manipulated
to yearn for our culture. If this fails, I believe we can develop powerful
propaganda techniques to put more pressure on them. Humans discount the power
of propaganda, but they have not the keen mental acumen we possess! Thus
I suggest peace, staying the course, and flipping or applying propaganda in time.
IF by some chance, Russia attacks US, let there be no mercy shown on those cities.
But if we are able, let us not upset the apelike creatures and give them
reason to set off their testosterone levels. If either of you feel compelled
to more forcible annex these cities, however, I'm sure you will do so with
good reason and I will accept your judgement.
Let the age of building begin...
Leipzig to worker. Orionus whips the granary. IRA plans for granary whip
rather than barracks, since nation has 3 barracks already. Aquarius to worker.
Janus to library to get its culture expansion faster. Tax collector to scientist.
90 BC (1) - Leipzig goes on Spear/Worker cranking duty.
IRA whips granary, Betelgeuse whips temple (I don't see these whippings as
endless or indefinite, btw, I see us in Monarchy soon and all chances to whip
soon gone)
Hrmm.. Alex and Abe look seriously stressed about something. Let's talk...
Xman too. No visit problem. We need to save a few more turns for an embassy
with America and Persia. Alex is just... annoyed. We can get an RoP but it's
rather expensive.
50 BC (3) - Berlin finishes aqueduct. I would LOVE to start another wonder here,
but... must crank some spears before trouble starts, plus a library for an
early 1000 year bonus.
30 BC (4) - Apollo does first half of a courthouse whip (using granary).
Persian embassy turns Xerces from annoyed to polite, as we hope to make
contact with our 'agent' there. Abe soon, then appease Alex, and we're ok.
10 AD (6) - Oh my!! This throws a minor apelike monkey in the works. Without
even trying, it seems that the small village of Argos yearns to be with us!
They are tired of Alex's perpetually dour disposition, and beg to join our
civlization. That means not one, not two, but THREE gems. Can't turn it
down, but somehow I think we won't be able to keep it. I just hope it
doesn't start a war 8-\
30 AD (7) - Russia declares war... on the Persians! (phew!) That works great!
Oh my goodness, Lejos! What a blessing this tired old mind realizes. No
doubt this mental impression came from you! Why don't we build the Forbidden
Palace? If Argos had not flipped, we would NOT have been able to start
the project in Apollo without founding another or starting a war! Great fate!
Greeks build the Hanging Gardens! Ah! A way to help them become polite, buy
desired Monarchy from them! Well no surprise in new patch, but EVERYONE
knows Monarchy instantly, and everyone has identical techs.

That makes it cheap for us anyway.
I give him WM+5gpt, slightly BETTER than he asked for. Yet he remains
annoyed. 8-\ I don't like the looks of that. Hmm... any huge needs to
whip left, or can we revolt? A granary in Leipzig next turn would work,
Betelgeuse Harbor this turn. Janus Harbor this turn too - both done.
Temple in Canis in two.
50 AD (8) - French, Babs, Chinese start the Hanging Gardens too. BTW,
the Gardens are the ONLY wonder even being worked on, and all from scratch.
It would not be too late to get in on the race, OR start on it and switch
to SunTzu or Leo's. Leipzig whips Granary.
70 AD (9) - Egpyt, Russia, Japan also get an urge to Hang gardens.
Crabion whips Library, Canis Minor its temple, about to revolt soon.
90 AD (10) - Greeks and Persians start Sun Tzu. Orionus whips library.
Final whip opportunities: Granary in Aquarius, temple in Canis Minor.
I don't think these are worth delaying the revolution over.\
A REVOLUTION! (Or so think the beings here... things are rather under
control. In fact... just 4 turns to recover

)
Lejos, rather than saddle you with 4 "next turn" clicks, I see it through
to Monarchy and readjust the tiles to somewhat of a normal state. Feel
free to change, veto, run as you see fit. Things are looking decent! 170 AD.
Workers?? Did someone ask for workers?? Now 9 workers and 13 spears, 3 swords,
3 warriors. Five workers under construction, and two spears. When I started,
5 workers and 11 spears.
* We need a road to other civs, especially Greece, as we have extra gems now!
Watch Leipzig, it's on border of unhappiness and about to grow.
Greece is finally polite. He was annoyed the whole turn, but never even sent
a single troop over to look at us. I expect no trouble, but do try to stay
friendly with him. Our next big need - STILL a few more spears but mainly, the
economy, hooking up our new lux and exporting them for cash and tech!
(Could it be the Greek worker we have?? Not liking slave labor?!)
Forbidden Palace due in 29! In your own command center Lejos!
Good luck, Lejosonga!
