America's too recent. No time to gather culture.

Ah, but unlike other countries no American cities is ever captured or raze by other nations. So while cities like Paris, Berlin, Jerusalem, Cairo and Beijing have to restart from 0 culture US cities doesn't. The only rival for cultural victory I guess would be London (last captured by Wiliam the Conquerer 1066).

Russia. Only because I'd have more power to do what I want. Look what Putin is getting away with. You still have nukes, and a decent amount of power and clout. Though the economy still isn't anything to write home about. That needs lots of reform and improvement. But it would give me goals.

And then you have all kinds of interesting countries you could invade.

Wasn't Washington burned by some hooligan nation? ;)

I don't see North Korea on that list. They could be interesting as they are at the bottom of the barrell, and the only direction they could go is up. :). They start with a powerful army. though politically they could never use it. China is their big daddy, they couldn't attack them. Attacking S. Korea would bring the wrath of the entire world on them.

Iraq in 1990 would be interesting. They had quite a large army. Though poorly trained. But again, they could not attack anyone without facing the wrath of the entire world.

That's why I'd still have to stay with Russia.

Brazil. Not a chance in hell of winning the game, but I'd have a helluva lot fun partying while you are gaming.

Regards :).

USA of course. Domination or Conquest victory! Screw Diplomatic, Cultural or Space Race! Those are for sissies.

These concerns:
The US was a no because we have too democratic a society and we do not do well in low scale (i.e. anything under full mobilization) war and would have horrendous war weariness.
are not an issue because as in the game I can just switch civics!

Government - Police State (takes care of war weariness)
Legal - Nationhood (huge drafted armies, quick happiness stop-gap from barracks in remote outposts.)
Labor - already chained to Emancipation. Too late for any change (Can't afford the unhappiness penalty). Serfdom would've been nice...
Economy - State Property (for easier maintenance of far-flung empire)
Religion - Theocracy (extra experience for the troops, and kick out all them heathens too)

:D

Chinese.

When it comes to CIV, I'm a militaristic player like all hell, as well as a conniving, backstabbing bastard. I like to smash the crap out of everything.

With China, I have two million soldiers, a rapidly expanding economy, and an authoritarian government. This means I can do all of my hulk smashing at will!:mwaha:

United Kingdom. Histograph victory. China could be a problem, but other than that I've got a really good start thanks to the British Empire.

Yeah currently China and the US both have some of the best qualities for an easy victory, but both have their own drawbacks as well. If only there were a way to achieve perfection...

China & Conquest.

I will need a couple of decades to get things in order first.
