Real or imagined threats

There has been many discussions around how SJWs were the scourge of society, antifa being as bad as neo-nazis, and transpeople exaggerating the threats to their existence. At the same time, the threats posed by neo-nazis were minimized as just a few angry guys blowing off steam. Here's a few articles that suggest otherwise;

Basically, hate crimes, especially against trans and Jews, are on the rise, and neo-nazis are cleverly co-opting the unsuspecting public to become sympathetic to their views, which leads to more people having ingrained hate like that dude in the weed thread.

And yet the internet seems to make it out that SJWs are the biggest problem in today's society, all the while we have an actual white nationalist in the White House. And no I'm not talking about Trump but it is his administration.

Nor does he offer any solution, instead downplaying the experience of other people. So basically a bunch of horse apples.

It only takes one violent incident from a bigot lethal or otherwise to profoundly and negatively impact someone's life, as well as impact on society as a whole and I think it's deeply cynical and harmful to dismiss or downplay the threats that some of us have to endure on a daily basis; wondering whether today is the day someone takes offense at your very existence and reacts hostile.

Not everyone has the privilege of bypassing and ignoring such threats.

Also it doesn't matter if the shooter was Australian or not, a neo nazi still caused one of the worst mass killings in New Zealands history and Zardnaar still tries to downplay the threat!

But it's a false comparison because Left has no real power, so the most they could do is harass people on Twitter, as opposed to passing actual laws to slowly turn the country into bad 1984 fanfiction as the Right does. And Islamic terrorists are a mostly "foreign" threat in the West so the Right has xenophobia as a tailwind, whereas Nazis are very much home grown, or should I say "blood and soil" grown.

I have met a few people I would say count as Nazis. Like Islamism it's a spectrum - actual terrorists are vanishingly rare, people who sympathise with them somewhat less rare, and Muslims who say they are absolutely non-violent but still think apostates or gays should be put to death more common still. So while you won't meet a stormtrooper in your day to day life, you certainly do interact with white supremacists who hate socialism and liberal democracy who think what Brenton Tarrant did wasn't a good look but it's understandable why he did it...

I pretty explicitly said that the "both sides" rhetoric is a false comparison? Albeit because I think the Left poses no real threat at this time, not because I think they are angels. You could convincingly argue that the Communist Party of China isn't left-wing 'cause Left and Right are very European categories but you can't say the Communist Party of the Soviet Union wasn't, and those guys sought to eliminate differences of opinion by force as soon as it was feasible to do so.

You're inadvertently hitting on the point, here. If less than one in one thousand Americans are Nazis, but they carry out one in one thousand murders, then they have a much higher propensity for murder than the general population- and we can reasonably infer from that, a higher propensity towards other forms of violence.

So what happens when the number of Nazis goes up?

from my experience, the most vicious of nazis aren't the one wearing Thor Steinar hoodies, 88 tattoos, bomber jackets, combat boots and bald heads, but rather the ones wearing suits and making money off of a destructive ideology. those you can rarely identify as nazis. I would probably say that, depending on where you live, most nazis (or racists, fascists, etc.) adjust their dresscode. Only in areas where they feel safe and sheltered with their disgusting ideology do they also "show face". And yeah, in certain corners of Germany Nazis tend to feel pretty safe. In your city there might be some nazis, too, you just can't identify visually them. doesn't mean they don't exist.

The archetypal Trump-booster is a middle aged or elderly white suburbanite whose online presence ranges from "non-existent" to "Facebook and local news". In what circumstances are they likely to encounter an "SJW" in the wild?

Trump voters are upset about "SJWism" because their preferred media outlets know that they are already obsessed with "political correctness gone mad", and goes out of its way to discover, exaggerate or simply invent stories of outraged liberals to grab and maintain their attention. It's not a backlash, it's a scam.

Possible? We have a historical example showing its actual. Are economic issues the most pressing concern of our time? Sure yeah, billions are living like crap by design so the micro few can live like gods, and this is not inevitable there can be change so yes, people should be talking about it. Guess what, they do. It's all Bernie Sanders talks about for instance, I don't see him or Warren or Biden or Hillary talking SJW issues that make Trump happen. Is Climate change also up there if not first in problems? Does rape and murder not happen on a regular basis? Child abuse and human trafficking? We can't talk about these real problems at the same time? And you say race drama like there's no impact, putting aside the larger issues many minorities race that causes a lot of the race drama, and laser focusing on the topic at hand, go see how many instances of violence these race drama groups are going out actively causing, not to mention their mass murders. School shootings are also a miniscule barely registered percent of murders, so we shouldn't put any focus on why we have more than the rest of the world either right? There is a majority of those in power who treat all people who aren't seem as the consumer sheep who sustain their system, true. Doesn't mean that the small group of those aspiring to power and making inroads who have disgusting racial hate aren't also dangerous, I already pointed out Stephen Miller in Trumps administration and the actions he has been behind. Are they meant to create an Ethnostate? No, but they are meant to normalize the views that he has among the public, so that slowly more and more people see these others as threats, and start asking themselves THE question, and the Richard Spencer's and suited Nazis gain more power until their pathetic worldview has a firm grip in our society. I say screw that. I'm confident they will never achieve their goals but that won't be due to those out there trivializing and downplaying the problems of White Supremacy.
