Also, stone can be used for other things minus Stonehenge...specifically, something that helps our defence a lot. (*cough*GW*cough*). Also, something that can boost happiness even more, and give us two especially brilliant civics! (*cough*mids*cough*)

mids is short 4???
Also we r on an island, y waist r time building a wall that wont do anything other then give us culture a gg points, not worth it

GW is, in general a strong investment, with our expansion into the Continent if we desire. No more barbs in our borders is good. The Pyramids are good, HOWEVER they cost a lot even with stone. An 250 hammer sink with stone. Europe is probably fertile with lots of grasses. A plan: Pyramids+Henge+GW+Specialist with Caste System and Rep.= strong civ. Build farms!

Angkor Wat, Hanging Gardens, and Notre Dame are also strong, and with stone could be built easily. That's in the future though.

So, SE anyone?

The Great Wall also gives the owner an ability: no barbs will enter cultural borders. This is huge for only 75 hammers with stone. We can expand to the continent and not worry about barbs. GW also NEVER expires, making it one of the few wonders in the beginning that don't, either literally or in terms of tech(Pyramids). Build this, barb problems be gone, and all we have to really worry about is the other more civilized nations.

I'd like to give my both votes to the First Coalition. (One to the Green Party of England and Wales and one to the Educated Party).

Do either of you, ilduce349, or jokoneli, wish to join either parties of the First Coalition?

EDIT: Anybody can join either party of the First Coalition! We welcome ALL!

cast second vote for MP

Its actually no barbs on the continent, if built in england then no barbs will be in England, which is already a garentee.

Really? Check the CivFanatics World Wonder Article or play a game and worldbuilder in the Great Wall, but unless its with the map or some funky mod you're playing, that's wrong.

As ilduce said, GW is no barbs on continent (i.e., landmass), thus if you build it in England, all it'll do is eliminate barbs in england, wales, scotland and nowhere else.

btw, lighthearter, what speed is this?

and could you post the save?

Cull - My user name is still Lighthearter over there - here's a link to one of my AoD projects. My favorite, actually. And Arsenal of Democracy is what I'd vote for - failing that, HOI2. I have HOI3 but it's so far been a major disappointment.

Now, the tallies(I'm calling the new coalition the Nationalist Coalition because both of its current members have that adjective in their names):

Party Tallies:
Green Party of England and Wales: 6 (First Coalition)
Educated Party: 6 (First Coalition)
Liberal Marxist Party: 6
Modernizatonal Party: 6
Martial Nationalist Party: 3 (Nationalist Coalition)
Royal Nationalists: 2 (Nationalist Coalition)

Coalition Tallies:
First Coalition: 13 (Green Party of England and Wales/Educated Party)
Nationalist Coalition: 5 (Martial Nationalists/Royal Nationalists)
Unaligned: 12 (All Others)

Also - coalitions please tell me if you are dissatisfied with your assigned colors and provide a replacement:D

If I'm wrong, which I don't think I am, then just build the wonder in France, and thus, the Continent, Asia, and Africa, and get the effect there. I believe the speed is normal. BTW, no save. Lighthearter PM's the Prime Minister with pictures, and answer all questions from the Prime Minister. I asked this earlier in the thread.

Yeah the Green Peace/Educated Alliance should be Green in colour :p

Darn we seem to be approaching the deadline and no response from Lopaz the Liberal Marxist leader (This is why leaders should start appointing a second-in-command) I guess we can't just go ahead with it without him *sigh* Oh well how long is a leader in charge? just 30 turns? or is it 50? either way as this is stone age there won't be too much to do in the first round.

On the Great Wall
As people have pointed out it only works on the continent it's made on. It should be attempted in the French Defense city. However the time it would take to get a galley and a settler over there would take awhile. If we go for Stonehenge straight away THEN go for the wall it could take awhile.

My belief is that whoever is elected leader will have to make a choice on which Wonder to concentrate on as it's better to plan and definatly get one then try to get both at the same time and fail.

My choice = Stonehenge
Reason = Charasmatic leader, as pointed out allready, also it's not barbarians we should be worried about on land unless we go for scandenavia. If we stick to western europe then we can hide from the barbarians behind a well placed defence city along with any europeans

(we really need to scout europe)

I agree on scouting Europe. I believe it to be 30 turns per election. FYI, west india man and me are co-leaders of the First Coalition. My second-in-command is MathNerd if he ever sits down, and makes an account.

Great Wall

If its only on the continent we're get a settler out to France ASAP, and try to chop it out. Henge is going to happen, but GW is sort of, for me, GREAT if we get it, if we don't, oh well.

http://www.civfanatics.com/civ4/info/wonders/

I think the above site says it can't enter the border, not the continent's border. I don't know if this is due to the map or some mod, but in all my experience all the cultural borders, not the continent that it is built on.

I PMed lopaz on Saturday about a possible coalition with the Modernizational Party and he said he agrees, but he hasn't posted here. Not sure what this means.

Neat on the coalition! (The M&M Coalition? :p Modernization and Marxist?) He's probably held up with some RL stuff, it happens. We're still one vote behind though (sneaky Lighthearter's vote) need to tempt someone to come vote us into the lead.

Cull can you get this buddy of yours to actually make an account on CivFantics? It peeves me that he's apparantly voting through you (granting you 4 votes by proxy). Not to mention it's pointless to have a second-in-command when they arn't around.

Also i think i remember reading that it was one of the updates that changed the great wall? i could be wrong but i know it doesn't work of your continent in-game as i get creamed by barbs when i go to south america in a earth map even with the GW in europe.

Then I say the coalition exists.

- Lighthearter

Cool! Name? Also, I can't get on Civ right now, bit Lighthearter acting as a neutral observer, can Lighthearter worldbuilder in a scernio with the great wall and more than 1 continent. Earth 18 is probably best.

Okay on the great wall issue. Probably chop it on in France then if we go the great wall route. My friend can NOT get on a computer, due to RL issues. He should make it in time for the next election though.

Alright - in light of recent events I am casting my second vote with the new coalition, which for convenience's sake shall be referred to as the Coalition of Doom:D(For now - I hope that their leaders can come up with something better soon:goodjob:). And I may also extend the elections to Wednesday night if necessary.

Votes for Liberal Marxist and Educated Parties. Also would like to change name to People's Consortium of England.
