Um...i could have sworn i counted 4. Theres GreenPeace, CoF, Aegis, and whatever my party starts.

Btw, i sent the plan. We are just waiting for LH now.

EDIT: We are on the 57th page of my term! A new record!

I didn't want to talk about coalitions until the term is officially over, but I was under the impression that Strength and Faith would join the Imperial Party and the People's Consortium in Aegis, since our goals overlap pretty nicely.

Now I won't bring it up again in the forum until the term is over (although we can talk via PMs).

yeah lets not bring it up.

I just sent you an email (assuming the Joe who sent me an email to my Yahoo account asking about Aegis was you) and would like to you to consider the offer I made you. Basically Church of nativity + Missionaries = Gold + Happiness = PCE's primary goal

Any decisions made will be done with consult of all FaS party members. Until such time, I am not at the liberty to make a decision.

Nottingham, Liberal Marxist Party Rally:

mechaerik stood up at the podium. It was a rather small rally. The people of Nottingham were afraid. There was minimal military presence there. Rome and Britain were at war, and Nottingham was at the front lines of the conflict. Many expected the fierce Roman Legions of legend to march in and declare the Netherlands a province of Rome. mechaerik knew that some in Nottingham were practicing Buddhists, but did so in secret, in fear of looked around and could even see that some houses flew a Roman flag. mechaerik knew that Nottingham was not unique. The Iberian provinces also had some degree of pro-Roman sympathy, or feelings of doom.

"My friends, we stand at a crossroads in the great destiny of Britain. Our political establisment is in shambles and we have a great and powerful foe bearing down upon us, determined to wrest control of our rightful territory. With such a potent threat set against us, we cannot break apart. We MUST stand strong. The British people must fight as one, or shall fall as many. The Romans have made it no secret they desire this territory. And we have made it no secret that we have no wish to peacefully surrender it. But our armies are small, an unfortunate result of the pacifists who neglected our defense and endangered us all. I told them many years ago, that we must arm ourselves and fight, so that our children would not have to. They ignored me and my party. And now look at our situation! Today, I urge you, citizens of Britain, the finest and most glorious nation in all the world, to take up arms and enlist in the Army! If we allow ourselves to roll over and surrender, our children will be lost to their motherland! I implore you, grab your tools and implements, and train as a unit! We cannot allow ourselves to be chained to the barbarous Romans! Fight for Brother and Country! Fight for Britain!"

And there was much rejoicing. mechaerik hoped that it would be enough to whip up a patriotic frenzy and begin a recruitment drive to defend Nottingham. If not, it could perhaps encourage guerilla fighting if the Romans did annex it. mechaerik could only hope.

I would like to congratulate Mechaerik on his excellent speech. Ilduce is making a speech at Ravus-York, a city which has a Roman army marching towards it.

My Friends, war is upon us, why? Because we have insulted the Buddhists by letting Ravus assimilate and kill their people. Why? Because we have ignored to threat of the Russians and the Romans, especially after we almost went to war them a few years back. Why? Because we have pacifists like WIM and MathNerd who refuse to allow us to build troops. It is clear that this war will not end shortly, and yet we still have members of parliament refusing to go on the offense. The Romans are attacking, and yet we are negotiating peace, a peace that would benefit Rome more the England. Given the time we could capture Rome, and with that Rome would be begging for peace, rather then the other way round. I want to see the Romans punished for the agressions, and Christian temples in their cities, I will not sleep until Julius is in custody and punished for his crime. He has soldiers in our lands, destroying cottages and we haven't stopped him because of the pacifism that plagues our land. I want to stress the importance of an offensive war and hope that it is not to late. Fight on my brothers and we can win. Do not loose faith, as god is on our side, we can win this war, just give us time and the people. Go to the nearest recruiting station and sign up to defend and expand the land of the free, with you we can win this war. Do this for your children, do this for your God, do this for England.

@Mecharik: that might be my next quote of the month "I must study politics and war so my sons can have liberty to study mathematics and philosophy" John Adams

@MN: I get 60s in English, I am no writer so my speech is probably terrible, oh well.

People seem to be getting bored, all that was decided was Arya-Nottingham seems appropriate but Arya-Kent sounds good and could work too.

Coalitions should be left untill later. You never know what will happen in the last few turns to change things (war were declared :p)

here's some thoughts for people.
- Are we spending all our natural espionge points against one rival? now that we know more then 4 it would be better to concentrate on one. Rome could be useful i guess but spening it all against Russia would be better long term and would be useful in case they tried anything else.
- There was a library quest ages ago to build 11 librarys. Currently we have 7 cities. If we take 3 romans cities and found one of our own then we could do it. But we have little room for expansion without a big move elsewhere. Perhaps plymouth to close of england completly and fully use the island? perhaps iceland before the mongols get there? Where should the last peaceful city of England go (seeing as Ravus-York is building a settler)

I almost never have completed a quest in Civ, since they're always so much work! What kind of bonus do you expect us to get? (Directed mainly towards Whosit)

@ilduce: second half of quote: "...so my grandsons will have the right to study art and philosohy.

Perfect motto for the GPC: "Violence is the last refuge for the incompetent."-Isaac Asimov

Cudos to Mechaerik and ilduce for the excellent speeches :goodjob:; I long ago refrained from speechifying due to my poor writing and equally poor oratorial skills.

When's the update? I assume war plans have been sent already...

EDIT: double x-post:

@Ravus: Iceland would be good. But a city there would be useless without Moai and a lighthouse
@Mathnerd: Well, I finished the swordsmen and master craftsmen quest once, but that was done after creating a strong industrial base, so I don't know...(Note: the swordsmen quest managed to crash my economy for 7 turns until I got vassalage)

The library quest gives us a research bonus, even more if we have the GL

Quest5:
Classic Literature
Prereq: WRITING
Obsolete: NATIONALISM or PRINTING_PRESS or EDUCATION or GUNPOWDER or ASTRONOMY
Active/Weight: 20/500
Aim:
Build default number of players for this world size libraries (7 for standard)
Result:
1.+2 research in one (triggering) city's library
2.get one ancient era tech
3.IF you control the Great Library wonder gain +1 scientist specialist for this wonder

From this page: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=236727

Basically, we really want the Great Library for this quest. The first option is basically 2/3 of a scientist specialist (with no GPP), but it won't obsolete, unless we get some stupid event that burns down the Library. The second option is probably useless.

We still have room on the British island for one more. I recommend the southwestern tip. Seafood.

I dont thinkwe should put another city in the british isles. It would interfere with productivity (we went over this is early-game). We will have 7 once we fill in iberia. We need 4 more. Put 1 in Iceland, take antium in a peace deal, 2 in scandinavia. What we ahve scouted there shows that the vikings probably started in finalnd and expanded into northern russia. 2 cities would have plenty of space in norway and sweden if we can get them there soon enough after the war.

False. There will be some overlap, true, but hardly anything atrocious. See the red dot. It will make use of the sheep and seafood that would otherwise go to waste (there's a fish or something to the south, I believe), making it a great GP farm. Also keep in mind that London will have to be much, much larger before it starts running out of tiles to work! The new city can also work those two cottages while London works others. The advantage? We get more cottages to grow than we would otherwise. This can be a very strong city.

On Iceland:
I'd prefer to let the mongols waste time building up the iceland frozen block. The agresssive people can take it from them later or if we are peaceful we can use the mongols as traders or war buddies when they get more powerful.

On the Library Quest:
so best case is just an extra scientist... i suppose that is useful for making a Great scientist pump. That would be three of them in one city with the Great Library. Might be the best way to get an academy. But to get all that we'd need the great library too. So obviously only a quest to go for if we managed to get a period of peace after the war.

On the southwestern tip:
Yep that's plymouth. I wouldn't mind getting a city there. Could be useful and will hold back the Irish borders. However it would mean we could never vassalise the irish... with the cities on the isles our culture would swallow them whole if they ever capitulated to us.
