While all of that may be true, the resources require to take Ireland would be staggering. Looking at the recent screenshots, I count at least 7 units in New Horizons proper, with at least 1 military unit (4 units total) to the south east. The top unit in both stacks are longbowmen. Also, I am guessing that they would have a high rate of production, what with their 10 population, many hills, and iron resource. Our current army is already lack luster, and will be spread out across German (and hopefully Roman) lands at the end of the war. We would have to build from the base up, in order to get a large enough force to take New Horizons, which I believe is on a hill. Our forces would do much better preparing for the worst case scenario of a Russian/Norse/Russo-Norse invasion.
Edit: Not to mention that if they have slavery, they can whip a couple of longbowman, making our lives even more miserable.

Yes. But the current set-up might just lead to abuses of power. The President said that the rest of the coalition members are advisors, but the President has no obligation to listen to them. And there are only three administration posts. Three posts that are extremely vague. This will, of course inevitably lead to the vesting of power from the previous posts into these three. A tremendous amount of power, considering the effort it takes to run this country.

I'm not really sure what you're talking about, Aysee. The President has always had the capacity to simply act unilaterally. Besides, the Opposition has the ability to punish me if you believe that I am stepping out of bounds.
In any case, I am going to spend a few days working on a very short-term plan to send to Lighthearter. I understand that we will know the results of the battle of Mediolanum before moving on, so we will have a chance to adjust our strategy if necessary. At a very basic level, I am going to keep us in war-time mobilization until ink on a treaty is dry. Often, the worst thing one can do is to stop training soldiers just as victory is in sight. Once the war is over, however, we can move on to economic development. Hopefully we will have enough surviving soldiers to provide adequate garrison, but Birmingham (Heroic Epic), and perhaps Antium, will continue to train soldiers to ensure that our forces have enough modern troops to keep us well-defended.
I plan to have more details worked out within a few days.

The consensus is most certainly NOT that we obliterate Mongolia. Consensus would imply that there has been a major discussion on the issue that collectively we had agreed on a course of action.
I actually am VERY opposed to doing anything with Mongolia. They're small, pretty weak and DON'T hate us. Their land consists of tiny islands that, barring Ireland, aren't very productive, will be difficult to capture and cost large amounts of colonial maintenance for very little return when our economy is already very heavily stressed, our army is in tatters and we have very powerful nations who are close and DO hate us. Remember Russia? The sack of vodka pickled flesh that is Czar Peter and his -17 to diplomacy? Or Saladin? All he needs is Open Borders with Egypt to trample all over us. Seriously, what would be the point of expending the hammers and gold to take it? You want to go to war over freaking Iceland? There's reason it doesn't have an army in real life you know. Come on! Carthage is sitting just across the Strait of Gibraltar.

IIRC, we dont pay colonial maintenance unless we have more than 2 cities oon a landmass.

I suspect we'll be fine if we can keep the attention of the bigger nations upon each other, rather than upon us, we'll be perfectly fine. Until then, Ireland could be a good war prize, and solidify our rule of the British Isles. How are our relations with Carthage right now?
