RebelNES

Starting stats altered, though I don't see why I can't start off in Ciudad Leon- is this NES set up so that Archuleta will kill anyone who disputes his rule in the capital? I'd really prefer to start off there, unless it really means instant death.

Faction: Free Army for the Republican Cause (FARC)
Leader: Chris Jacobs
Class: Ex-General
Credits: 5,000
Army: 50 Paramilitary
Navy: none
Government: Republic
Base: Valdez

Chris Jacobs, a former American soldier, was hired by the Nueva Leon government to help train and modernize the army. On patrol in the jungles around Valdez when Mendez died, he has returned with his small group of soldiers, hoping to bring order and republican virtues to the struggling South American nation, which is now his home.

Can I start in Leon as the Church (I'll even make myself a Cardinal ;))

@Lord Iggy- The capitol has the highest concentration of loyal Archuleta troops of the entire nation, and it is the place he is actively pacifying the most. Any start ups there will be quickly put down. Best to save the capitol for later, when you have more support and can argue who should rule easier.

@TLJ - I'll get your stats up tomorrow, I am off to bed now.

Query: In areas with no faction, what if anything exists in the way of government?

From Coalition for Rational Government
To All Other Factions (with special note to the government in Leon City)

We all wish to reunite the nation under our own rule, but we all know our nation has many enemies. I propose an alliance against any nation that should invade Nueva Leon's rightful terrortory.

what about airplanes?

He brings up a good point. My own recommendation would be 10,000 credits for a jet; and perhaps 5k for a helicopter. Bombers would be unlikely. It needs to be very expensive though, since it's pretty damn hard to build an airstrip. Helicopters would make one heck of a difference though. You may want to even consider various types.

I would vote for being able to buy small civilian airplanes for drug running and the like as well.

Good ideas on aircraft. I will edit the rules.

@Masada if you were playing as the church would you be rebelling? Archuletta has no qualms about killing a man of the cross if he gets in his way, he'll just let everyone know how much of a fake he was and that he actually worshiped the devil.

Faction: The Democratic Army of Nueva Leon (ADNL)
Leader: Antonio Vicente Caldera/UNpatriot
Class: Politician
Credits: 5,000 (-4500)
Army: 100 Farmers
Navy: none
Government: (Direct) Democracy
Base: In the jungle, north-northeast of El Cerrito

Backstory:

A minor political figure during Mendez's presidency and always just on the border of being removed because of his opinions, Caldera managed to gain widespread support in the short democratic period. His centrist economical views, combining both Chicago school neoliberalism and socialist support of the poorest satisfied slightly both the left and the right of the political spectrum, but his real strength lied in his shamelessly populist charisma he had always possessed, although well hidden. After the coup he fled to the jungles, knowing that a demagog would not live long. Even there the people cherished the idea of ruling themselves, but will his, some call it naïve, softness and reluctancy to be cruel even to the worst of enemies be an asset or an obstacle?

-----

Orders:

-explore the jungles around

-send agitators to nearby villages, gathering support

-sell crops at markets to gain money

-spend 1000 to build infrastructure in villages supporting the ADNL

-spend 1000 to hire an advisor (retired warlord/mercenary leader/something like that) to help in military planning

-spend 2500 to establish a network of operatives in the US and Europe, lobbying the governments and people trying to gain support for the ADNL

I support the idea of small airplanes. Jets might be not fit for this but a propeller plane with guns/rockets/something fitted to it would be nice and realistic. However, to buy and use those one would have to have some sort of an airstrip. Helicopters would be nice too.

May I suggest:

1 Prop Plane: 5000 Credits (weak firepower- machine guns, rockets)
1 Small Transport 'Copter: 4000 Credits (minimal firepower, can carry [~10?] foot soldiers)
1 Large Transport 'Copter: 10000 Credits (minimal firepower, can carry [~30?] foot soldiers)
1 Battle 'Copter: 8000 Credits (moderate firepower- machine guns)

From: The Democratic Army of Nueva Leon
To: everyone holding the principles of democracy important

We in the ADNL propose that everyone who wants Nueva Leon to be a democratic nation join forces now to overthrow the enemies of democracy, both the junta and those villains who wish to become nothing better than the current leadership. Even though you might not agree on policies if you agree on the principle that the people should rule Nueva Leon and not some dictator we will consider you a friend, not a foe.

After the enemies of the people have been destroyed, our ideal is to hold an election and let the people choose who will build a new, free Nueva Leon where the people may rule themselves and prosper. After all, that is what we all want.

I argue that a jet plane would be an ultra-expensive weapon, available only to the most prosperous of factions. We could probably assume that if someone could perhaps pay 25k for a jet, they likely can afford an airfield as well. Though I agree that an airfield should be required for the purchase of regular planes.

Updated map and armory.

EDIT: after reading UNpatriot's orders, I have included structures under the armory (his infrastructure order gave me the idea) tell me what you think. Also, I maxed the Jet out at 5000 because it didn't make sense that a jet would cost more then a destroyer, so unless y'all want me to up all the prices of everything, I think its good.

We really couldn't care less for the struggle of the people or government. We will accept monetary contracts from any faction regardless of ideology. Give us an objective and appropriate funds, and we will achieve any objective within ____ (insert amount of time for 3 updates here). Remember our slogan: "We like to take your money!"

Nielson Private Military Company Orders Update 1

First we require the skills of a knitter. We shall copy the government flag and emplace it upon the bow of our noble corvette the PMCS Greed is Good. Then 70 Paramilitary shall board (standing room only) and proceed to journey east to the unsuspecting town of Bonita. Taking care to avoid patrols and ackowledging the fact that one government ship is not likely to know the patrol routines of others, we shall sail into the harbor of Bonita, appearing as though we are merely stopping on a routine patrol.

Upon landing in the harbor, the Paramilitary will overwhelm local defenders and seize as many fishing and military boats as possible from the docks. Meanwhile, the corvette will shell and destroy any other vessels in harbor that we will not be able to reach. Emphasis will be on the capture of PT boats and (please oh please) corvettes which may be lingering in the harbor. Anything not able to be captured will be sunk, and no matter the status of the harbor, all forces and ships must be out by three hours after the onset of the attack. This is in order to prevent a coordinated enemy response against our positions in the city.

All ships, sailors, and soldiers will then return to the base camp, where we shall feast and quaff, while jesting of the pillage and plunder we have achieved. Then, late into the evening we shall drink rum, take advantage of the local native women, and pass out inside our huts in the early morning.

@bestshot, will you penalize those of us who did spending orders already for the lack of a camp? personally i'd recommend giving a camp to start for each faction, acting as the initial base.

Orders:

Buy 1000 farmers with my creds. Use them to make me cocaine farming money.

Spread propaganda to the people about how times are crappy and they should put their trust in me to lead them out of the dispair they're in now. "You are enduring hard times. This will change once I have the power to change it" is the main message. Collect donations from those who have the ability to donate, perhaps nationalistic businessmen, who are given promises that their business will have extra rights when I'm el presidente.
