Red Alert IOT SIGN UP THREAD

Wait. Do you have to build a tech center at every place you want to build advanced troops?

No. If you build a tech center in Chicago, your barracks in Spain will be able to field Tesla Troopers/Spies whatever.
This prevents anyone from not supporting their ally one turn, then turning around the next and flanking the enemy. Of course after 2 turns, they will be able to attack them, but it gives a chance for the war to develop first. they would still be able to peacefully aid them though.
I'm actually not going to do the 24 hour rule because surprise attacks add anxiety and fuel suspicion. Besides, shouldn't the enemy take into account that maybe, just maybe that Allied/Warsaw faction that it borders may want to intervene on its allies side?

If a nation fears for enemy faction reprisal because of a sneak attack, then it should publicly declare war. Remember, each turns goes by seasons and things can really spiral out of control in a season.

It isn't as bad as it was in maybe RIOT where armies are pool. You can see and track enemy troop movements on the map. If you see the enemy massing on your borders, be suspicious!

With the sign-up thread, I have gotten a ton of suggestions for the game. As such, I've loosened up and added a few things since this thread has started, such as the roads/railways and loosening up the restraints on diplomacy.

So, all things considered, would you guys be alright with trade? Nothing overtly complicated. Just a cheap new naval unit and use for cargo trucks but I was wondering what people thought (I know what some players think already but I thought it would be nice to ask everyone).

I would appreciate trade. It would exacerbate the importance of navy, for one, and it would give us a way to acquire large amounts of resources.

That, and the Cargo Truck seems kinda useless otherwise.

The way trade would work is that players can build Freighters ($20 each) in their naval yard or subpen and can send it to a port of another country.

Once the Freighter reaches the other port, the port owner generates 30% in ore income the Freighter owner makes. Once the Freighter returns, the player earns 30% of what the port owner earns.

Players with a naval yard on the same continent can't do sea trade (exceptions of course). They can use cargo trucks though, but that only generates 10%.

Will there be any negatives or positives of trading with the opposite alliance?

That seems reasonable to me. So Cargo trucks are more expensive and provide less income?

So when a trade unit arrives, the player it arrived at gets 30/10% of the income of the other player?

@Arya: well, there's the fact that we'd be increasing the income of our enemies...

If cyan is already taken, make me blue of some description.

I made a deal with Sonereal and exchanged my Missile Subs and Missile Silos for the Allied Cruiser unit.

Allies:
Longbow Helicopter: Costs $120 each. Requires Helipad. +15% bonus against vehicles.

Warsaw Pact:
Hind: Costs $120 each. Requires Helipad. 15% bonus against vehicles. 5% bonus against infantry. One free strike.

May I ask why the Hind does everything the Longbow does and more, yet they cost the same? Just asking.

Ah, there's a WP Kingdom, and an Allied Socialist Republic. Who can be helping them?

In RIOT I had a pharaoh and socialism

Because your infantry is better

Then why can it tear apart Vehicles and has a free strike?

Would it not make just as much sense to give them both first strikes, switch the Hind's anti-vehicle and anti-infantry bonus, and give the Longbow +5% vs the Hind?

If they both cost $120, they should have relatively similar capabilities. Just saying, ignore me if I'm being annoying.

Because in general Soviet vehicles are better?

From looking at lighthearter's map, i think that he didn't get all allowed 60 islands. And I think that he maybe should be given a few more, because if the naval combat is anything like I think it is (how does that work, anyway, sonreal?) LH will probably not be much of an asset for the soviets (ie: he has barely any back front, because his territories are all within the same two or four seas.)

I'm judging any island that I can fit neatly under my pinky as a 1/2 province now. That small enough?

I'll give the LB a 20% bonus then.

Yes, it is.

However, I'm going to leave his claims as is because for him, there would be no benefit to having 60 islands unless he disagrees (and really, it would probably be more like 45 given I don't consider every island there 1/2 a point worth).

...So hes joined just to come after me? How sweet of him.

Also, I didnt know we could make deals with the devil...I mean GM:D...to get units of the opposing side. In that case I would love to make a few unit trades with the devil...I mean GM of course :D:D:D!

No, LH had to do a lot of things to get that unit. Namely, lose his ability to ever get nukes.

Also, he was planning on joining since the beginning.
