I know that we have never been friends, nor have we ever even been civil to each other. However, we are in a unique position this day; our mutual enemy, the Republican government, is weak, and ready to fall... if only enough force can be appliesd at once.
British and Belgian intervention threatens to make Spain a puppet state of the EDL imperialists. You said you would not have Spain returned to the Middle Ages, and I agree strongly; where the Muslims of North Africa once oppressed our peoples, we will not have the British imperialists and their puppets do the same. We intend to fight the British to the death if that is necessary to liberate Madrid and Granada. But they are strong; their armies stand poised to sweep across our lands if we do not defeat them soon.
That is why I propose a temporary alliance between our factions. While I have no love of fascism and you none of communism, we can both agree that they are both improvements over the evil, corrupt, oppressive, inefficient Republican system. We have both lost many men fighting the corrupt government; now let us fight them together, for victory. If you agree to this alliance, I suggest we draw a line across Spain at the city center of Madrid. My Spanish Liberation Army would fight the Republicans and their allies in all points south, and your Fascists all points north. Once the Republic was defeated, we could perhaps form a coalition government consisting of both factions, or else we could divide the land. Will you agree to an alliance to destroy the corrupt Republican regime?

We have no intentions of invading Portugal, as we only take a fleeting interest in your existence. We simply issued a request for aid, and when it was rather rudely rejected, we decided to back away. You fill your own head with illusions, as the cost of Spanish lives to secure such a place as your backwater republic would be wasteful.

We shall send the "password" via courier (PM). Hopefully such a demarcration will be acceptable as a temporary measure, and less arbitrary than a simple line.
In the long run, the Republican government probably is more harmful to Spain than either of our two factions perceives the other to be. Under the corrupting influence of Republican politics, who knows how many brilliant minds will be wasted in the farms and factories? Such a policy would only be a shameful waste.
Perhaps, also, in working together to prune the dead wood from the rosebush, we can graft our two stubborn branches, that both may enrich the sap of the plant and contribute our unique characteristics to the flowering buds, that they may bloom and flourish as never seen before.

I'm grieved to announce the death of the last Chairman of the Party, who died last night of a severe sinus infection. He gave us some words of wisdom which according to his will must be read in front of the nation.
"People of the EDL. People of the Rome Pact. People of Italy. We have seen true devastation of war in our allies of Spain, and in the recent combat in Czechslovakia and Germany. The EDL and the Rome Pact are both under the assumptions that we must have a war to end all wars between capitalism and communism. I find this illogical. Why should we have a war? What does it matter who controls a foriegn nation? Mainly it doesn't. Let your neighbors live in peace, regardless of their choice of government. We must remember the main lesson of the Great War. Alliances lead to great conflicts. History is repeating itself. We have two great alliances, both continuously on the brink of the most destructive war of our time. I hope for Italy that we can stay above this. I hope that the one who follows me will help l'Italia remain out of the next war. I hope that Italy can work for the peace instead of the war."
