Release Candidate

I saw a nice french naval invasion of Sardinia. 4 carracks escorted galleons carrying about 10-12 knights. AI isnt completely hopeless! :)

Edit: Through Gibraltar strait.

took a shot at France with the rebalancing, and while i failed (took Italy to early, which caused me to get overrunned by Avar Horse Archers and Longbardi Axemen) it feels much better now, where should be possible without being to easy, while at the same time not that hard as it was in Beta13, where you really had to have luck on your side

certain i've found it before but now i can't

where is it defined which group, which province is a part of?

might be me that remember wrong but i believe i found a mistake in the province maps ... afair Lubeck was moved from Saxony to Brandenburg in beta13 to make it easier for France to complete UHV1, but with the reworking it appears to have been moved back into Saxony

...

Actually ... looking at French UHV 2 ... having Jerusalemin a certain year ... with Jerusalems 'aggessive' revolting wants unless its Arabia that holds it (as of my knowlegde), wouldn't this UHV be horriablly hard now, since you have to take the city at a certain time so it doesn't have time to flip back before you get to the year?

Hi, please check this save game. Playing as spain however my starting position is on the water.

A few comments:

1) The Settler Map is way off. I like the new size of the map, however. It's not as unnecessarily large as the other map was, and the palm forests are also a nice touch.

2) Because the Settler Map is so off, I am forced to use the world builder to change the name of the towns myself, and then, for some reason, my game inevitably crashes. It's annoying, but I am still waiting to see if there is any solution to it.

3) The new merc system is a really good idea, and the stylization of the mod as a whole is really starting to come together. That being said, I think that the graphics of the galleys and early war ships of the civs could be customized to look differently. At the current moment, the Arabic galley looks entirely similar to the Venetian galley.

4) The biggest errors to the Settler Map has been in Iberia. al-Garnata (Granada) was near Madrid, and that's obviously not even close to the reality of the situation.

5) I like the new colonies screen. It's another stylistic touch that gives a nice "RFC Europe" feel to the mod.

That's about all the comments I can think of for now, but I am sure that there are other ones floating around in my mind.

thats not the settler map (which is the AI's "where do i want to settle") ... its the City name map, with allready in the starting post is acknowledged to be out of sync with the new map, which also is noticeable with England where London is named Portsmouth or southen france where Toulouse is named Narbonne

Barbs are still too dangerous. The early spawns are killing off Bulgaria (specially the never ending spawn NE of capital) and when the Keshiks show up its game over.

The two issues needing attention, except the barbs, are name map and UHVs. But I dont see many people posting, 3Miro are you busy with afk?

Actually I was/should be working on the barb spawn balance and city name maps, but was rather busy in the last couple weeks
Will get back on both in a few days
Everyone can help in improving the city name maps, after I posted updated versions (for Release Candidate 2) in the appropriate thread

I don't remember this change
Wasn't it only a suggestion?
Anyway we can discuss it, I don't mind it either way

UHV text and counter for Kiev are misleading.

In SoI all independents are the same nation. Really drives up difficulty.

Nope, there are four, as many as in RFCE. There are other things that make them stronger though: no distance maintenance, +1 free unit maintenance per city etc.

Ok, I really think twice before attacking the rebels. In RFCE you are really unlucky if someone else attacks you in your area when dealing with independents.

Still playing France and found something that looks odd

Swabia is unstable, while Franconia to the Northeast, Lorraine to the North, Burgundy to the West and Lombady to the South is either OK or Solid ... it makes for a protentially odd settle map ... could they either get Swabia as unstable or lose Franconia as OK (making that Unstable as well)

In CvTeam.cpp, only the first change deals with Indies (the declare war thing), right? The lost project part has nothing to do with Indies.

I just added it to RFCE, although I haven't uploaded yet.

Yup. 10chars

since its an interesting thing in SoI ... is the idea of Unique Religious Victories viable in RFCE? ... where Orthodox, Catholic, Protestant, and Islam have URVs? ...
