Religious Overhaul Design Thread

The new stupas are really interesting! I quite like the idea of adding more uses for Relics and making them part of a culture/diplo game in this way, and making them more useful for wide play too. It's also much more flavorfully coherent than making landmarks provide the extra WC votes.

However, it seems a bit of a shame to restrict this innovative use of Relics to one particular reformation belief--how about giving everybody an option to make Stupas if they want but reducing the yields to something like 5:c5faith:, 3:c5culture:, 3:c5goldenage: so the yield inflation won't be too crazy, while Holy Land adds the extra :c5culture: and :c5goldenage: back on in addition to the WC vote bonus?

Is the Sagrada Familia also new, or have I just not noticed it before now? Regardless, I like the idea, but I'm not sure how useful it would be. Admittedly I don't really understand the religious spread mechanics very well so its ability might be more powerful than I think, but it doesn't seem like just boosting the faithfulness of your own cities would be very helpful this late in the game. I guess if you've constantly been scrapping with enemy prophets and missionaries it could be nice to get your religious unity back up, and it might save your bacon from an enemy religious victory, but it comes online so late, after your local religious dominance should theoretically be assured, that I just don't know if it's worth 3500 production (admittedly the free GE covers a myriad of sins in this regard).

Lastly, I quite like the changes to the Siamese Wat, it feels a lot more authentic to its historical roots, and the bonuses from Paper also dovetail nicely with Siam's strong diplomatic focus.

really interesting idea, waiting for it to be done
perhaps making more beliefs that allows more than 11 religions in huge maps

@pineappledan is this a project you're still working on? I personally find the idea of a monk specialist really cool! It makes quite a bit of thematic sense and I think would make faith generation much more dynamic in the first 1-200 turns, which would make religion a lot more interesting. Its projects like this that made me wish I knew how to code and mod, as I would love to help.
