[New Feature] Religious Victory

Sounds epic!
Unusual I suppose for the big rival to not have their own religion like this, but definitely the moment to go for a mass-conversion.

Will the mods overview window in the game say v.1 despite the download being v0.8? (asking because the Devotion Ideo show v.15, which was the version I downloaded).

in VP 4.17.8 i can't found religion using this mod (no button on great prophet), removing it and reload the save game allow me to found the religion without problem.

If you message me your Logs folder with the Religious Victory active I can see if there's any clues.

Sorry @kwon9861 this log says that there's dozens of errors in the mods you were using, including SQL syntax errors which are horrible to find.
I think you need to retire these for now.
I know people are interested in fixing Enlightenment Era for the new releases so maybe that will happen soon.

I think you also have 4UC active.

I have tried this mod+future era and while it takes a while, it does load. So you have to just be patient? I haven't tried with Enlightenment Era as well.

Hi Hokath have you considered at some point reworking Byzantium's UA and applying it to the Fealty Tree and or to the Religious Victory Ideologies? I've been meaning to attempt it myself but I don't see anything like a Lua that makes Byzantium's UA function and I'm not sure if that is included in the dll file for the code to make it function. Feels more fair than just giving everyone access to Byzantium's trait, which just causes it to be way harder to win a religious victory and stops the AI from just using their faith later on for other GPs if they keep losing their Holy City. (Somehow in one game of mine Canada founded a religion like 3 different times).

If not could anyone possibly point me in the right direction? I have an interest in reworking the Fealty Tree for my own personal preference and allowing anyone who adopts it to basically have byzantium's ability seems like a good start.
 
To get another belief it's hardcoded in Traits as BonusReligiousBelief, along with AlwaysReligion, AnyBelief.
If you want to give that on a policy you would need DLL modification (and to remove it from traits since you cant have both).
So you would need to make a proposal at the congress and get a DLL sponsor.

I'll propose it as well once I can get a structure set up for it which makes sense over the weekend so the idea can be presented more clearly.
 
So all proposals need a sponsor -- someone who has the skills to integrate it and who volunteers their time.
Some things can be done with existing functions, these are "database proposals" and many people sponsor them (they involve the sort of coding like is used in this mod)
Other things require new game functions, these are "DLL proposals" and only a few people have the environment+expertise to sponsor them.

As far as I understand you need a declaration of friendship or they need to be your vassal to not declare war. Underlying other diplomatic factors don't play a role. I agree with your perspective where I would prefer to just have a large diplomatic penalty, so civs themselves can decide whether they want to try and stop me at any cost depending on shared history. This is similar to other victory types where getting close to world domination/spaceship construction/tourism dominance makes the AI dislike you. There isn't a "everyone declares on you" once you start building spaceship parts, or pass world ideology or start building the culture victory wonder, so why should buying a Sage?

Yes I agree with this. I love the idea that we are having negative diplo modifier when my religion is dominating the world. However I think it is kinda weird to have entire world declare war on me once I bought the sage, considering the condition of the other victory type. I am not saying that the AI should just ignore me and let me win even if I have bought the sage, but it would make previous diplomacy with other civ seems to be futile if I know all of them (except vassalage) will just declare war to me.

Any civ with an approach less than friendly. The true approach, so they could show friendly but are actually deceptive. I believe this is how the function works.

But in my opinion if the AI found you building the Utopia project, or the last spaceship piece, or whatever else, they should DoW you too. The AI must try to win the game (unless you disable victory competitiveness).
