Yeah, post 11 of this thread.
I've looked into it, and the Baltics seems to be a bit weird under this setup. Maybe Finland can be moved north one tile too? This is getting a bit excessive but perhaps doable. I need to look at it in the world builder.

I have always found Scandinavia and Finland to be the ugliest part of Rhye's Europe and I can happily provide a map suggestion to you with added row in Germany later today.

I agree about Scandinavia. It also appears to be the part of Europe that could most easily be shrunk down a bit to provide space for Central Europe.

So I'm open for suggestions.

And if a lurker like me is allowed a say: scandinavia is not the Sahara, but is definitely too food-rich, especially in the north. Lulea (west spot) is the worst example, FOURTEEN out of twenty one tiles in it's BFC are grasslands. That in adition to coast, plentiful rivers, deer, copper and fur. More tundras in northern scandinavia are a badly needed.

Agreed. It's better to make south Sweden more interesting instead.

There should probably be marsh tile in northern Finland. About one quarter of Finnish land area is covered by some sort of bog/swamp/marsh.

I couldn't find better map, but I hope this will help. The map shows how many percent of land are is covered in bog/swamp/marsh in different parts of Finland.

Awesome.

Here is my current version, please feel free to comment:

EDIT, new version: (Uranium is 1NW from Stockholm, but barely visible)

Changelog:
-Moved the Netherlands, German, Denmark and Baltic coast 1N
-Reshaped Northern coast of Scandinavia on some spots
-Moved St. Petersburg 1NE, added Neva river
-Moved the Gulf of Finland 1N and added 1 tile to the easternmost tip of it.
-Moved Ladoga and Onega lakes and adjusted the coast of the White Sea and the rivers nearby
-Moved Finland and Helsinki 1N, added Vantaa river
-Moved Sweden and Stockholm 1N, added river and hills
-Removed two westernmost tiles of Norway, compensated by changing mountains to hills
-Reshaped the ugly Gulf of Bothnia removed northern river from Sweden
-Reshaped Kemi River
-Changed the northernmost grasslands to tundra
-Moved the resources into more correct actual locations, added fur to Finland and Crab/fish & more oil to Norway (1 oil was too little)

There could be a river 1S of the Iron, but I didn't put it in yet, so that the spot doesn't become too tempting. Baltic and German resources can also use some adjusting.

I don't know what's up with the editor, but coast tiles and some other tiles (marsh mainly) are really distorted for some reason.

Looks good. The Stockholm river doesn't make much of a difference though, and the spot 1S of it is still much better for a supercity.

Also, maybe a fish near Murmansk is in order? It is still the largest city in the Arctic circle.

Yeah, for food it is great, but you miss the to hills for production and possible deer. The northern fish can also be moved 1N, but then it would allow Lulea to become a super-city. The southern fish could be 1S though (the exact spot were it currently is).
Murmansk (2NE from the northern marsh) only has 300k population left, but maybe it could use a fish or a deer source. I has two hills and Fur at the moment.
If the northern swedish river (Umea?) is put in, Stockholm gets few river tiles more.

I must admit, I read this thread's title as "Removal of Kebab" :/

I think it's important enough to history that removing it is a bad idea.

You're late to the party. It's already been decided that it will stay, and got an overhaul instead. Now we're discussing possible map changes to the Baltic Coast and Scandinavia.

Just a graphical artefact of keeping some of the previous terrain present. Should be gone after reload.

Problem is that Hambourg is completely stucked beetwen Amsterdam, Copenhague, Berlin and Franckfort. What about turning Denemark (and Copenhague) to an Island and to move it 1N/E.

There's a thin column of Ocean tiles in the North Sea. Maybe they should be Coast instead to make the Vikings reach England easier?

All those cities can't fit into the map well no matter how the tiles are arranged and moving Copenhagen would allow direct access from Sweden to Denmark and close the straits to the Baltic Sea, so that is impossible.

Sure that can be done, it is actually accidental. The distance is the same from Oslo though.

Moved the discussion into the suggestions and requests -thread.
