Roman navy loses naval battle in the Black Sea. Thanks to the most brilliant admiralship in history since the battle of Crete, a Russian fleet defeat the Romans with a fleet 3 times their size. On all fronts to a display a ferocity Russian Cossaks have been defeating armies 2 or more times their size. Only the Romans have been able to advance thanks to superior training.
Iriquois troops advance rapidly into both the NEC and the Aztec Empire. NEC has been almost split in half and will be should the city of Boston be taken. A man named George Washington (ironically born thousands of years before his time) has led the NEC forces in a desperate defense there.
The old plauge, thought to have been driven extinct thousands of years ago has resurfaced in the East and killed thousands of Chineese. The old remedy provided by the Chineese and Egyptians has had no effect. In response Babylon has once again closed its borders as has the Arab Confederation. The plague has driven any settling attempts to a halt.
Civil War breaks out in China in between Catholics, Jews, and Muslims. All together China has broken into 4 states: Korea (greyish sort of color), Mongolia (greenish sort of color), and Shanghai (blueish sort of color). That is including the loyalist state. As an added casulty of the civil war the armed forces has split apart.
In Europe the Franks have revolted from English and Spainish rule under the leadership of a great woman know as Joan of Arc.

New England Confederacy: Scholars have developed a special caravel that can cross oceans. You get get contact with only ONE Europeon civ using this. It will be up to them who else in Europe, Asia, or Africa you get contact with.

Anyway, I just repeat the same orders: Upgrade the army, upgrade the navy etc. Basically, in my absence I'd have thought my lords were at least half capable of doing that.
Britain will NOT act in any crusade yet, we are instead preparing ourselves for expansion into Canada.

Here is a question for you:
Would you rely on city governors in civ3? In my games they always want to build calvary when they should be building tanks, privateers when they should be building Aegis Cruisers. So why should you rely on the governors in this? Look what they did to Vikingland which was once the most powerful. On another note: don't worry nothing lasts forever. Look what just happened to China and Spain.
Also some of you have this bad habit of thinking everything can be done instantly. When a nation goes NPC then i just sorta let them run on autopilot unless they are important, like Persia was or Eithiopia.

The war had draged on for generations. The Romans had made slow progress in Russia and had lost to the Russian navy while going through the straight into the Black sea. The Black sea Navy after the defeat was kept at bay, and was upgraded along with all remaining ships to the Dark age technology. The navy would be out of this war for now.
The Army was losing key battles winnig a few. The Russian assaults in the winter and the constent gurrila tactics were taking a toll. Only the Romen training was the key to their success. You must fight fire with fire, and the Romans prepared for winter. Getting used to the gurilla tactics and supplies were slowly becoming better.
Thousands of Emmigrants had settled in the captured land. They created Roman comunitys in Russian citys and towns and set up their own. They farmed the land to provide more supplies. The first great census of Rome was taken in this year. The first time a sicilian became Emperor.
Times looked good for the average Roman. But the military Roman was a diffrent matter. They had to be trained for several years for the winter. Then they were kept for order or sent to the front. The Roman army was still growing. Every day there was recruits. Army families were set up in Rome for the first time.
A soldier may wed but if he bore a son then that son at the age of 12 would learn to be a soldier and learned to be a Roman(incase of Russian brainwashing). This kept the Army freash with more soldiers.
The navy had cut backs. Some sailors were sent to the front. Them large loss at the Black sea had lowered morale and had scared the navy to the ports. Once hundreads of ships roamed the great medditaranian every day, now only a few dozen were sent out beyond Roman boarders. The escort of trading ships was reduced from 5 to 2.
Rome was becoming better and worse at once.

We would like to extend an olive branch. the only agreement is that we keep our winnings. Many of our non-russian citizens live in this region and many of our Roman-Russians feel that this war should end soon.
