Revolution IOT

Righty-o, good news.

I've streamlined the inactivity penalty so it doesn't have to be a trait anymore. I've set things up so longer periods of peace/no rebels lowers RR. Blockades increases RR rather significantly each turn.

I also changed factory costs slightly.

You can pay 4 EP for a factory, but this increases RR by 5% each. 6 EP for a factory decreases RR by 5% each.

And if you pay 10 EP to buy one 4 EP factory and one 6 EP factory and think you're clever, then congratulations, you're still paying 5 EP a factory.

The net effect of this is that for almost every country, RR has gone down drastically, in some cases 70% (one country went up 30% but whatever).

You'd be surprised how many traits the changes made redundant so more yay. I'm also gonna get rid of more trade traits because, unsurprisingly, they're not skewing things too much anyway. Without any of the trade bonuses, the same countries maintain their same relative position versus others.

Please dear God tell me I went down and not up... :(

My workers are the highest paid (I presume, anyway, based on RP and mechanics) in the world, even!

Yours went down from 102% to 35%. If not from the RR from the downturns, your RR would be -35%.

Edit: And you have enough EP to buy enough 6 EP factories to lower Econ RR to 0% and then buy factories out the ass from there.

AHEM.
Last year I gave mine half of my treasury and this year I gave more than a third.

You benefited from last year's turn by getting the -20% reduction (without which the RR roll would have hit you again and is what convinced Romania's military, on top of the merchants, to say lets be cool). I haven't processed this turn's orders yet, so the 1/3rd spending can still be changed.

That's a grant, not a wage. :p

Inevitably the flow of money will stop... and as Machiavelli told us, such a change in policy is perilous... :mischief:

Not that I looked at his orders and added Reform+Factory, I could just say he's buying four 6 EP factory, bank the 1 EP left over, and that's a 20% reduction in RR.

So the order still works and he actually comes out ahead three more factories than he would otherwise.

wait 4 factory? I ain't never ordered that.

If you put 20 EP into Reform and 5 EP into factories, and the point of the reform is mostly to lower your RR, then that's effectively buying four 6 EP Factory (which lower RR) and getting an extra factory.

Ah, so that's why.... Now it all makes sense! I'M A GENIUS!

Free trade yes, but no to the Outer Speeches. We are proper Catholics [citation needed].

The Republic of Quebec is announcing a formal alliance with the Unitary State of America.

Confirmed.

The League of Urun offers an alliance to the Unitary State of America and the Republic of Quebec on the condition that it won't include anything connected to any of our current wars. We also offer FTAs to both.

We'll think about it and get back to you in a year or two.

The Glorious Civil War

The Glory Corp braced for the worst as the non-mutinous elements of the Riccio High Seas Fleet moved down the African coast to place the rebellion under naval blockade. In less than a week, the naval mutiny is defeated. No Riccio fleets were destroying, but half the Glorious Fleet now lies on the ocean floor.

-1 Glory Fleets
1,641 Military Deaths

Unfortunately, this is where Riccio luck came to an end. Despite having a clear numerical and leadership advantage over the rebels, the rebels were able to hold the line against the Riccio incursions using a combination of guerrilla tactics and attacking supply lines. Unsurprisingly, the Venetian counterattack failed. Despite Riccio's failing, the lone organized Venetian force was destroyed.

-No Riccio armies destroyed
-1 Venetian Army destroyed

7,720 Military Deaths
23,689 Civilian Deaths
29,438 Refugees (internally and externally, for economic or political reasons)

War of 1823

In the Midwest, the Americans launched another attack. Despite initial defeats, the British Army were able to turn back the tide and actually retake all territory lost to the Americans.

-8 American Armies
-4 British Armies

33,370 Military Deaths
126,343 Civilian Deaths
64,185 Refugees (internally and externally, for economic and political reasons)

Quebec, on the other hand, fell on hard times when the Romans invaded. Roman forces smashed aside Quebecois forces and established a sizable beachhead.

The capital of Quebec fell to Roman forces, and the rebel group was cut in half. But the use of foreign troops to put down a rebellion has many in British Canada fuming.

-1 Roman Army
-1 Quebec Army
-1 Quebec Leadership

17,297 Military Deaths
6,604 Civilian Deaths
12,765 Refugees (internally and externally, for economic and political reasons)

FRCN Civil War

The FRCN declared a blockade on Borneo, which worked. That is the end of good news for the FRCN.

After a few months of fighting in the jungles of Borneo, 1/3rds of the FRCN force now only exists on paper. The Sultanate lost no armies in the conflict.

-1 FRCN Armies

12,949 Military Deaths
58,779 Civilian Deaths
29,847 Refugees (internally and externally, for economic and political reasons)

FRCN-Icelandic War

And now for something completely different. The FRCN launched an unprovoked invasion of Iceland, a rebel country of one of the weakest countries on the planet. Despite the Kingdom of Iceland's status as a minor power, Iceland has completely defeated the FRCN forces, destroying 2/3rds of the landing forces, and lost minimal number of soldiers themselves.

The blockade, however, is still in effect.

-2 FRCN Armies

17,484 Military Deaths
72,867 Civilian Deaths
5,231 Refugees (internally and externally, for political and economic reasons)

The Burgher Rebellion

The Bauarish Empire of Holy Rome, on the other hand, launched a two-pronged invasion of the rebellion, wiped out the opposing army, occupied vast swathes of the country, and lost no armies.

-1 Hamburg Army

41,589 Civilian Deaths

Everybody should welcome our three new great powers: The FRCN, Holy Rome, and Riccio (again).
