RFC Europe playtesting feedback thread

Yes! It worked! Thanks :)
I'm also posting to report a rather easy capture of Constantinople playing as Bulgaria, I think Byzantine's UP should be changed to +300% Defense in Constantinople against non-gunpowder units, which should make it still easy for Ottomans to capture it if they focus on creating plenty of Gunpowder units (esp. their UU, Great Bombard). Also once I've captured the city and Adrianopolis to the west of it the Byzantine Empire has fallen into civil war which gave me the 2nd UHV as early as the 10th century, to counter this maybe Indy's should count against this UHV and one more city should spawn in the area? (The southerwestern tip of the control location would be best, as it is most difficult to reach as Bulgaria.

Played with France three times. Burgundy allways declared war on me within the first 25 turns and without any reason. I easily could conquer one of their cities located south east of Paris. After that, Burgundy collapsed all the time, although the rest of their empire seemed to be stable. I personally never liked the victory condition "never loose a city", because once you loose one, it is simply over and you don´t get a chance to conquer it back. Even if you have the military power. Too simply to get rid of one of your rivals....

Just downloaded Sedna 17's 22feb version and the Knight's of St. John's isn't their UU anymore. I think it is accidentally removed. It should be their UU again.

The Knights of St. John will now be enabled by the Knights Hospitaler corporation. We'll have to come up with another UU for Portugal. Ideas anyone?

The best I found searching on the Net was dismounted cavalry. Dunno anything else though

Need some help. Downloaded both the 17th and 22nd tst files. When I opened them I got alot of junk. Lots of files with 0 bytes and won't copy to my mod folder. I had no problem with the Feb 14th file or Feb 16th patch. Any idea.

That's very odd. I just downloaded the Feb 22 version and it looks fine to me. Perhaps it is a problem with the compression (i.e. zipping). 3Miro and I might be using slightly different programs to do this, and perhaps your unzipping program can read his but not mine? It should be pretty standard though.

I've uploaded the file to Filefront as well, in case the problem is due to RapidShare. You can try it here: http://files.filefront.com/RFCEurope+test+Feb22zip/;13350836;/fileinfo.html

2 things.

First this is a better site, download in 1.5 minutes, rapidshare the download was over 25 minutes.

Second the same problem. I open the zip with a double click and I get _MACOSX folder and RFCEUROPE folder PLUS 2 files with 0 bytes with the same names (can't delete them). Then when I open RFCEUROPE I get Assets, public maps, reference folders and matching files with 0 bytes and same name plus 3 files which I believe shold be there. Each folder I open is the same way with a file to match a folder plus files I think should be there.

Sedna17 I just went back and downloaded the Feb 14 zip and it worked just fine. So I guess my computer just doesn't like your zip file for some reason. If you have another solition I try it otherwise I wait for another post from 3Miro.

I've had no problems with rapidshare. Download time = approx. 2 minutes for the Feb. 22 version. My problems in the past were with filefront. Never use that anymore. Must be diif. computer specs. ie "horses for courses".:D

Rapidshare has been painfully slow for me this time, although generally I prefer it over filefront.

Anyhow, I've made a new archive of the mod with rar (instead of zip). It is otherwise identical. If you can open rar files (or download the program to do it), this might work better for you. The new rar file is here: http://files.filefront.com/RFCEurope+test+Feb22+v2rar/;13352732;/fileinfo.html

Great mod detail of game is outstanding.
Few things i found-
-City naming could use some work, founded Utica in eastern Europe as Hungary where Wein should have been.
-City buildings as Genoa seem to have texture problems
-If any civs are added it would be good to see Romania, Macedonia or Serbia(something to fill in southeast Balkans), Kingdom of 2 Sicily's, and Berber Africa.

@ sk8er AG: pls post a screenshot of the place where Wien (is that you mean?) should be?

I think Wien is Vienna, not sure tho.

Knew that. Sk&er ag though writes Wein. Is that a typo or there is a place name under that?

The reformation is broken in the Feb 22 version. I finally understand how to really fix it though.

The problem is that currently check-turn says:

Code:
If protestantism is not founded then:
if there is a civ with Printing Press and Catholicism then have reformation
But Printing Press founds Protestantism in our mod (difference from Reformation RFC modmod), so this condition never gets met. I was testing by replacing Printing Press with some earlier tech (so I didn't have to generate such long saves), and so I didn't find this bug.

I'll change it so that the Reformation gets called from onReligionFounded. That will work better.

I reported earlier that the France UHV conditions #2 and #3 are not working, I've just found the same thing as Spain. Controlling Iberia is recognized but not having any non-Catholic religion in Iberia isn't. It just says "not yet" long after the 1650 deadline. Something wrong there I think.

Another thing about that game. At one point I suddenly got the icon for the Bank of St. George just beside the Catholic symbol for Valencia. Even though that corporation was already built by another civ. And I was now able to build executives there and spread the bank to other cities. Is this a bug?
