This is a short update makign the transition from Lenin to Stalin. The 5 year plans begin in 1928 so this covers the 4 years in between lenins death and that. It is mostly Stalin's naration on how he came to power.

Chapter 2: Stalin.

On the letter Lenin bestowed on to his wife before his death read ‘Stalin should not be my successor; he is too rude’ it also provided reason for why Trotsky and multiple other top soviets should not be his successor, but it took particular attention at Stalin.

“It will all have to be removed, better yet simply destroy all evidence it ever existed.”

“Comrade Lenin died in 1924, and between that time and the start of the first 5 year plan, I slowly eliminated my rivals, their deaths were necessary to ensure the vision of Communism lives on. The revolutions have failed in the other European country and now we must adopt a policy of Socialism in one country. We can not rely on the more advance countries giving us there technology when hey join the revolution, ‘we are 50 years behind the advanced countries, we must make good this distance in ten years. Either we do it, or they will crush us.’ ”

“By 1926 most of my adversaries had been deported, or killed, they stood in the way of the vision. But my most powerful enemy, Trotsky still stood in the way. Our opinion differed greatly on foreign policy. He favoured supporting socialist guerrillas in China overthrow their government, but I had long accepted that the rest of the world was not ready for communism, and that the capitalist countries would soon join and attack us to protect themselves from the spread of communism. I favoured using the capitalist to the fullest purpose. We could pay the Capitalists for technology, and organizing socialist revolutions in them would sour the close diplomatic ties we had with the republic of china, and Alienate the Commonwealth of England, which thrived on trade. They would be the source of our technology. I organized a deal with the English to pay them in return for them giving the technology to build our own railroads. When the capitalists stop bickering amongst themselves, they will turn on us, and we will be ready.”

“We continue to have strong ties with China, while I signed a defensive deal with the Arab nation to our south. The imperialist nations of Germany, Greece, France, Spain, and England are the most likely to attack, but to secure our flanks is important. I do not trust the English, but I will maintain good relations as long as they are useful to us.”

“By 1928, Trotsky was in exile in the hated Nation of Mexico and I was undisputed ruler of all the Soviet Union!”

Physics will take 8 turns to research at the current rate i am going, but the 5 year plan will cut it by alot. Thanks to the Kremlin rushing costs 1/3 less so rushing the factories won't damage the economy too much.

The next update will cover the first 2 Five Year plans.

The next update will cover 3 five year plans, and ends in 1943.

3 diplomacy blocks have emerged.

1. British-Soviet Alliance - 2 triple alliances with USSR and england in both + USSR-USA defensive pact. Power lies in USSR military strenghth and England's Technology + potential of America. Basicaly Stalin, with his policy of Socialism in one country, understands a need to have good realtions with the capitalist countries to be able to sell products to.

Not yet, when World war 2 is over, they will be my enemies, but they will be on my side for world war 2

Part 2:

“The first 5 year plan was the rapid development of industry, while in the less developed part of the Motherland gulag Prison camps help to develop the regions. Fields were tilled, forests chopped; Steel Mills were built. All across the Motherland people worked hard to develop communism---- and those who didn’t were sent to Siberia to work on gulag prison camps, as well as people who did not support the state. By 1930 I demanded that the 5-year plan be completed in 4 years. The secret police looked hard to find dissidents and political opponents to work as Slave labour for the construction of industries. Through all of this, even with high goals, we reached them, thanks to labour camps; the first 5-year plan had been completed in 4 years.”

“The town of Tsarcyn was renamed Stalingrad in my honour, I paid particular attention to develop industries there, the Volga will be a highly industrialized river when I am done with it.”

“We started the second five year plan in 1932, but the deadline was 1938 since we had finished the first one early. This one was to continue to develop the industries in Europe by providing them with electricity, and to build a railroad from Moscow to Vladivostok. We had 6 years to do this; as well our scientists were working on over time to learn the secrets of physics so that we could apply them to Mother Russia. By pouring all of the states resources into it we were able to shave 4 years of the time required, but it still would not be completed by the time the power plants were done. We will have to use England again to pay them to finish our research.”

“Rail lines from Leningrad to Sevastopol’ had already been built, as well as Leningrad to Stalingrad through Moscow. Between the Capitals of the republics rail lines had also been built. There was a vast distance to cover between Vladivostok and Moscow.”

I will World builder in the railroad; it just is not possible to complete it that fast in Civ, but the rest of the rapid indstrialization Stalin does is not with world builder.

Bonus! It is now 1935. The turn sets have gone down to 1 year per turn, that means I have to increase my goals for research.

“By 1935, Moscow had completed its Coal plants, but we had to hire foreigners to fun them since no Russian had any knowledge of electricity beyond it made things move. To understand how electricity functioned was the science goal for the plan. We were to pact 50 years of research into 10 years!”

“In 1936 my scientists finished there research on Physics (It was funny because I had 1 bulb left, so I just paid somebody 10 gold for the last bulb) Also the nation of Italy became unified in that year. With 2 years left to research electricity so that our own people may run the power plants, it is very difficult to see us reaching our goal, but this is Russia! Anything is possible!”

“By using all the resources available to us, the Soviet Union is able to research half of Electricity by the deadline, then we might be able to buy he rest off England. Those researchers will pay dearly for their failure, as both Industry and the railroad were completed on time”

“The failures of the Scientists did not go unpunished. Everyone else had to work harder to make up for them. The goal for the next 5 years is to research electricity, and Industrialism, then learn about Internal Combustion. Had the scientists worked harder they would only have 2 things to research. Like the scientists, I purged the union of all political opponents who did not embrace the revolution, and I hunted down anyone who opposed the state.”

“Among the Scientific goals, the industrial goals for this plan is to improve industry to the East of the Urals, and to develop the Volga river more around Stalingrad. To pay for all this development the Soviet Union sold many products to the Capitalists, the way the system work was that as a whole the Soviet Union was a Capitalist entity, the largest one in existence. The state owned everything inside the union, even the farmland, which had been collectivised, and we sold products to the rest of the world to pay fro the developments. It could be so cheap because we used the slave labour fro gulag prison camps.”

“To be able to industrialize so quickly and yet the technological part could not keep up annoyed be to the brink of killing the scientists who should be researching. We could have industrialism in 4 years, but we must fit it in 2 years and research internal combustion. It is 1941, and the fact that the Capitalist could attack at anytime drives me to insanity. If Germany were to attack us now, we would not be prepared. (Hint, hint, check your history books)”

So I am now at 1941. This is when World War 2 started for the Russians. I could have been rushing out troops for about 4 turns after industrializing the European part of Russia, but I didn’t because I needed to build research. At the current rate I am going I can get all my research goals done in 7 turns, so 1948. Basically, if no one attacks me World war 2 can be late, and since real Russia was in fact ahead of me technologically (they already had railroads) I think I am doing pretty well, but I won’t be able to get the UHV for the Apollo program, but the Golden age I will get for not losing any cities will be great as it symbolizes that I have arrived at the goal and so they prosper, and it will help me build tanks.

“By 1943, Russia had been industrialized from the pacific to the Baltic, but the we were lacking in Science. More scientists were killed for the failure. Industrialization on the Volga is behind schedule, but that was expected as all the prisoners were in Siberia industrializing there. Perhaps I should make the scientists build on the Volga.”

“It has been 15 years since the plans started, and 26 years since the revolution, we have advance 50 years in that time, thereby matching the capitalist as of 1917, but now they are another 25 years ahead of us, if we could make the 50 years it 15 short years, we should be able to make the 25 years in another 5 years. Anyone who questions my math dies…”

actually it was this massive before the revolution...

My prouduction is so massive because of what VeBear said, as well as having so much land with so many watermills, producign +2 production, and lumbermills also +1 production. The size of my nation means most cities can work 10 tiles with 2 production, and combine that with forge and factory without power, 30 production per turn, factory with power that is 40 production in most cities, not including specialists and production generating resources, and the more productive sites can get 15 tiles with 2 production, so at least 60 production with power. Yes so Russia itself is responisble plus the improvment choices, while communism lets me have production and food in the same tiles. The downfall is low amounts of gold production, but since i am communist no chance of great drepression, and as i have proven in the last update, i can quickly match the technology of other nations by pouring my prouction into that. However with electricity all those watermills produce +2 gold so that makes gold production mediocre instead of flat out bad.

Check out the update that shows the tiles Moscow, Leningrad and Stalingrad work, for when i was deciding what national wonders to build where, it will give you an idea of what the rest of my country looks like. Once again this strategy only works with russia, because it is suited towards having lots of watermills, plus i added even more rivers. (I calculate that i could put an extra 10 watermills nation wide because of them, excluding the watermills that are on tundra and ice because if i included that it would be over 100)

Part 3: This covers the 4th 5 year plan, the rise of Fascism, and stalins intentions for the 5th 5 year plan.

“The scientists who failed were quickly and thoroughly disposed of. New scientists were hired and told to finish the research of industrialism and internal combustion in 5 years, and then we would be on par militarily with the capitalist and then transform our economy into a war machine, to… defend ourselves from capitalist aggression! What we know about internal combustion so far is that it burns a product of Petroleum, something plentiful in the Motherland, and large source near Novosibirsk is set to be exploited, but we need the equipment to do so.”

“It is also in the plan to continue to industrialize the Volga. Predictions said it could be completed in 4 years, but I pushed it to 3 as a punishment for failing earlier. We would soon make armament factories all throughout the Volga river, in order to crush… liberate the peoples of the world from their capitalist oppressors. As well we will industrialize the regions around Leningrad, which we had not been able to give electricity since we had to develop the harbours around Leningrad instead because of all the products being shipped out. As well in the plan consists of massive building projects in Moskva to make in match the glories of other Modern Capitals, we will build a giant theatre from which we will show the people state approved movies and plays, the theatre will be giant, enough to hold all the Muscovites and the patriots from the union who would want to attend. In the next plan we will build a giant Museum to host the best of the state approved art. Also the further industrialization of the Soviet Far East is part of the plan, they are expected to finish in 5 years. The 4th 5-year plan is expected to reach all its goal without excessive measures, by 1948, the from the pacific to the Baltic the Soviet Union will be fully industrialized, and we will have matched the military technology of the greatest nations!’

“By 1945… I felt as if the union should have already taken on the capitalists, increasing numbers of people were killed to achieve a goal that should have been completed by now; efforts must be doubled! Comrades! We must complete this 5-year plan in 4 years! The capitalists will see the enormous progress we have made and band together to eliminate us! We must finish the development and start on building war materials for the coming war!”

“Fascism has taken hold in Spain, it is an evil system pure opposite of Communism; Fascism must be eradicated before Capitalism. The Capitalist French Republic sign a defensive pact against Fascist Spain to counter its rise, meanwhile fascist movements in Germany and Greece have begun. Fascist governments kill off communists, to ensure eventual world wide revolution we must protect our comrades if those countries were to over become Fascist.”

I am going to pretend my enemies are all Fascist, even if they aren’t.

“The rise of Fascism has made the capitalists and Communists unlikely allies, currently the French republic is fighting an Italian Fascist revolution while the battered nations of Greece and Germany have elected in Fascist governments. Fascism was spreading to the Spanish allies of Mexico and Mali, and it spread to India when the Spanish made an alliance with them. The Fascist countries would surely strike us, and so the 5th 5-year plan was changed to tackle military developments. Technically we have 6 years as the last plan finished a year early. We have to 1953 to develop as many Tanks as possible. We have a good design, the T-47. But we must be ready for war in 6 years. Our infantry and artillery are outdated, while we have a good design for a gun, the AK-47, if we are building all these tanks we will not be able to build enough guns to supply the eager number of troops whishing to die… fight for the motherland! The solution is to develop some lighter industrial zones in the more northern areas of Siberia, and in the Transcaucasian SFSR, and the West Asian SSRs. Only the port cities of Murmansk, Vorkuta and Petropavlosk are to not see industrial development since there tundra soil is not suited to support large equipment, these industrial developments do not need to be completed in 6 years, if only some can be completed they can start the work on the AK-47s for the infantry, the rest can come online latter. Then in 1953 we will be ready to attack… counter the Fascist aggression, and the 5 year plans will be halted until the war against the Fascist lead to there complete extermination.”

‘But what if the Fascists attack us first’ said an Advisor.

“Then you shall be sent to Siberia, on second thought, maybe you could help out the situation by personnel going to Jakutsk and quickening the process? Give this man a one-way ticket to Jakutsk.”

Will the Fascists attack? Willl Stalin complete his goals on tanks? Will millions of people die in the process? Will the advisor enjoy his one way trip to Jakutsk? The answers to these questions and more on the next episode of Russia's got talen- wait, wrong show... RISE OF THE SOVIET UNION!
