In 1958 Greece respawned as opposed to Persia. This wont mess up much, except the reasoning behind the buildup of forces in West Asia. I guess maybe they will make a come back. If not I will make them comeback with world builder.
Well, Persia was replaced by Greece, and Spain had to have its brain rewired as Japan and Greece were its enemies and France its ally, so I was technically at war with France for a bit, but the war is now set.
Persia collapsed the turn before so it will not participate. Now an explanation for what happened.
When the Russian delegate refused to give up Tajikistan, tempers flared, India, Persia, Germany, Japan and Greece declared war. Greece was a relatively new nation and was under intense pressure from its population to have Sevastopol so as to control the Black Sea, they wanted Sevastopol, while the other nations also had their reasons. Japan was already at war but joined with the other delegates in solidarity to protest the large neighbor they all shared. China, France and England all supported Mother Russia and declared war on the Block. Spain in support of Germany declared war on the 3. In response Russia supported her allies and declared war. The new nation of Persia revolted against their Shah and it fractured into the city states of Tehran, Shiraz and Bandar-e Abbas. The First World War had begun!
The Neutral Nations are America, Aztec, Inca, Mali, Egypt, America will be forced into the war late, and the rest of the nations are to be unpredictable.
War plan is to engage the Greek army in the south and eventually raze Hadrianopolis so that maybe they will build Byzantion, launch the main assault on East Prussia, which was the Russian strategy anyway during world war 1 and to make an invasion of the German Lapland to distract the forces there. Since 1850 China has been marching troops to the barbarian cities to my south, probably they wanted to invade India so they have a good head start, but I will watch my southern flank, hopefully engaging the Greeks in Europe will deter them from attacking in Baku. Meanwhile, Independent Sweden is dividing British Norway and German Lapland, France will face a two front war between the Spanish and Germans while the British will do whatever it wants, probably engaging in Naval battles with the Spanish. China already has Conquered Sapporo and most of Japan has been raided so they are practically waiting for someone to kill them.

Telegraph lines were wild after the declaration. All over the vast Russian empire people learned that every single one of their neighbors except China declared war on the same day. Patriotic fervor flourished as people were called to arms to defend the motherland. From Byelorussia (Apparently that means white Russia) Ukraine (Sometimes called little Russia) and from the western oblasts were drafted into the Tsars army. The army built up to suppress the masses was sent to the front; the perfect cocktail for rebellion, but for now the people are distracted with hatred to the Germans, Greeks, Indians, Japanese, and Persians. They dont realize that Persia ceases to be a unified state, and that Spain is in support of the Germans. The Tsar Plans to attack East Prussia, around the city of Memel, the birthplace of the German Empire to provide a crushing blow to their morale.
The attack on East Prussia was swift and brutal, an artillery division battered the town, followed by 2 divisions of grenadiers bombing the place. Then the Cossacks came to mop up any remaining resistance. The town was burned to the ground. The Cossacks trampled on the livelihoods of a million east Prussians. With the most obvious threat to mother Russia taken care of within the first months of the war, Attention turned to the north and south flanks. Cossacks were sent north to engage the German Lapland forces and infantry and Cossacks went south to engage the Greeks to knock them out of the war. The anti-piracy force was sent out to take control of the Black Sea, while one Cossack division was sent along the coast to raid the greek country side near Sinope.
By 1870 a substantial force had been drafted from the border regions, making the people very angry and production plummeted the Russian economy was faltering thanks to mismanagement of the Tsar, although the war couldnt have been going better. Hadrianopolis had been burned to the ground and Russian forces advanced up to the Wista river in German Poland. In the Lapland the establishment of Murmansk gave the Russians a port in the area, although the border between Ukraine and Hungary observed trench warfare thanks to the favorable position the germans held their, but their position is to be flanked by a route through Romania, which is wide open since the fall of Hadrianopolis.
By 1874 the Russians had advanced all the way to the Oder river, but were stopped by fierce German resistance (No they werent, this is just for the sake of the story) the Germans would not let the invaders into their country and a fierce defense being put up by the Hungarian forces will not let the Russians cross the Denister into Transylvania. The only leeway has been through Romania which the Russians had overrun the Greek defense. The Russian Generals thought the best course of action was to use their flanking potential to attack the Hungarian defense from behind, but the Allied Command wanted to knock Greece out of the war while they were still regrouping after their great blow in Romania. The Tsar was weak and gave in to the Allied requests, instead of pursuing the best option for Mother Russia. This blunder would be one of the final nails in the coffin for the Tsars, for the beginnings of the Communist revolution were being planned in St Petersburg at the moment, they would fail to gain any momentum until Lenin would become leader of the movement.
1978, Epidamnos is burned, but German forces have been pursuing the Russian advance, and now Greek forces from Athens have arrived on the seen. The Russians have a long supply line and are surrounded on 2 sides. They order a retreat before they are completely cut off. The Tsars may have won the battle but they are losing in that theater. While the North Europe is a stalemate and so is the Lapland campaign. The construction of the Pacific fleet, which really is only 1 frigate, is complete and it is sent over to harass the Japanese coasts, while the Chinese have conquered Afghanistan as a base against India. The Tsar sends the few Cossack divisions he can spare over to Afghanistan to reinforce the Chinese Position there. However as a totality the war is going nowhere while massive casualties pile up. Dissent is rising but it will be years before they do anything about it.
By 1980 the retreat was complete, the eastern front stagnated in trench warfare, it seemed like the war was going no where, and then in 1980 America joined on the Allied side. This new piece of information brought the Japanese people to overthrow their government and Japan descended back into feudal warlord states, this freed up Vladivostok to the ocean and removed one front from the war.

Have you researched communism yet? If so you should have switched to communism during the stalemate...

Yes i have researched Communism already, currently i am beelining for fascism for police state, and i am waiting for 1917 to have the revolution, i understand that 27 years of stalemate is alot, but think of how the russian people would feel, an entire generation of men died for a war that went nowhere in over 2 decades. Veterans from the trenchs would have been able to father children to fight in the trenches again in that time. Really i am the only one who has done much in the war so world wide it is a pretty big stalemate. I am thinking of giving america a boost by WBing in some soldiers to tackle spain, as so far they are pretty weak, and i need a good rival.
I think 1917 won't be a turn so i guess i will start the revolution in 1916, pretend it started in 1917 and it will continue as long as i have anarchy. I think if i wanted to i could capture Berlin, but i put my self on a self imposed stalemate for story reasons. I must conserve Germany for Stalin's Tanks!
Hopefully the german spears won't do that.

We all love a good war now and then.
A very short update today, i wanted to keep with the tradition of ending updates witht the Deaths of Monarchs so this deals with the 10 years after we left off, in which i pretty much did nothing, but i created a creative story to elaborate on my doing nothing.
For 10 years the war remained static on the eastern front, and the western front saw little action. Typhoid, Yellow fever, Smallpox, all the traditional diseases were rampant in the trenches and many died (No they didnt, but Plague did rock the both sides of the war) and this set back American preparations this end troops into the war to the year 1900. The Russian people complained that the allies were making Russia take the brunt of the war, but the Tsar Alexander II wanted to do what the others said. It is important to note that Alexander IIs son, Nicholas the II the future monarch was related by Blood or Marriage to almost every other European monarch so the Aging Alexander II did not want to cause rifts in his extended family, even if he was currently fighting a war against his extended family in Germany and Spain. In 1898 something unexpected interrupted the stagnate war. A new Sunni Islamic nation rose up out of Arabia, this time as a republic and claimed the entire Islamic world. Only in theory did this affect the war as a technicality, this new Arabian nation was at war with the defunct Persia. The Stasis of the war would not end until the year 1900, when Alexander II died and the Final Tsar Nicholas II would take the throne.
The AIs seem to hate fighting this war as much as my population is said too they keep signing peace treaties, so I have to force them back into the War with World Builder. Anyway I am still bee lining to Fascism and I my worker army has successfully improved tiles up to Yakutsk: My strategy to improve tiles is to send all my workers improving and migrating in a General Eastern Direction. So they are currently improving Vladivostok.
Now i would hate to leave you guys with no pictures so here is a picture of the new Arabia with the Cities I WB in. They are Tehran,Shiraz,Bandar-e Abbas,Masquat, Baghdad adn Ad Dwaha. Notice also Chinese Kandahar.
