RFC: Rise of the Soviet Union

I wanted to make the next update the final stretch to the revolution, and adding 10 years to that made it seem less imposing. Now i have 8 turns to research Facism. I is going to be tight i know, but I geered by ecoconmy towards production, and all those watermills won't provide commerce till electricity. But at my 50% rate i can pull it off. So it is off to wikipedia to learn about the russian revolution and Lenin.

What i find cool is that i am acting like russia did in real life; I am trying to quickly catch up to the rest of the world in military techs, while skipping over techs that would benifit the populace, like democracy or biology.

Next update is the Final Reign of the Tsars!

This is it the final update before the revolution... part 1 of 2.

This update is filled with twists so enjoy! I was too lazy to italicize everything, so i ask you all to pretend it is.

“Nicholas II inherited an empire at war with nations whose rulers were his own blood, so many years Russian soldiers died on the frontlines of Germany to achieve. The areas that the Russians occupied, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and East Prussia, would one day become the Baltic States, but the Tsar treated them cruelly; he was not their liberator from German rule, he ordered his soldiers to pillage the country side to get what they needed, and after decades of Tsarist Occupation the country side was brown with the dirt of untilled fields and grey with the clutter of rubble.”

attachment.php

“While the soldiers had barely moved in 10 years, Germany continued to reinforce the oder. The longer the Russians waited to make their move the harder it would be. When Nicholas the II took the throne the stalemate looked like it was about to end; American troops had just captured Denver and American troops in France had aided the French in capturing Venice. Nicholas II ordered his soldiers to cross the Oder at all costs, a bad decision, because the cost would be high indeed”

“At dawn on the fine Morning of March 1st, 1900. Tens of Thousands of Russian troops rose from their trenches to cross the oder river. The spring melt waters had flooded the banks of the river and mad the soldier task even more difficult, but the Tsar refuses to postpone the battle. No division made it across intact, the meager few of the divisions that did not get cut down regrouped to the north and South of the city of Berlin; of the soldiers that tried to cross directly in Berlin, not one lived to tell the tale of the enormous blunder of the Tsars. Canons fired constantly from the Russian side of the River, while machine guns tore the Russian lines to shreds. When the Tsar was informed of the casualties he instructed his advisors to draft more troops to replace them. He had no respect for the lives of his populace. Nonetheless new troops were sent in to occupy the trenches, but desertion rates climbed, and these deserters overwhelmingly support the Bolsheviks, led by Vladimir Lenin, a young man of 30, but when he spoke, everyone listened. He called for a government when the decisions were made to benefit the people, and everyone shared in the work and the rewards, he called for Russia to become a Marxist nation. The Bolsheviks were not the only ones to support the idea of Marxism; the Mensheviks also supported the final vision, but disagreed with the Bolsheviks on the road to the vision. The Mensheviks thought that Russian society had to first evolve into a Industrial, Bourgeois Democratic society, while the Bolsheviks support the idea of taking control by force and Transforming Russia into a an Industrial Dictatorship of the Proletariat. Disputes between these two groups postponed the revolution and extended the cruel life of the Tsars.”

attachment.php

“By 1902, Russian casualties mounted as the Tsar attempted to surround Berlin. He was successful but Berlin continued to fight and the Russian army was eroded away. The Russian army was spread thin and so while Russia had forces all over germany they were to few are far between, and so the Russian retreat began. The other allies were doing much better, the Americans captured Santa Fe from Spain.”

attachment.php

Inca declared war on Spain, then Aztec on Inca, I also learnt about a war between Inca and America vs. Mali, so I implemented these into my world war.

“Germany and Spain saw their defeats were imminent thanks to the fresh recruits from America, and so they got Mexico to declare war on America and the rest of the Allies. They also got Mali to declare war on the Allies to threaten the French colonies. In response to this the Allies got the Andean alliance to declare war on the axis and threaten Spanish colonies. America withdrew her European troops to America to combat the Spanish Texan and Mexican forces.”

attachment.php

“Since Arabia was at war with the defunct Caliphate of Persia, the only neutral nation was Egypt, but it supported the Allies over the Axis, with almost the entire world at war people began to call this ‘the war to end all wars’ they were far from correct, this war had truly became the First World War.”

“For many years the Russian Army retreated back into Poland. They cross the Wita with heavy hearts, the sacrifices of their comrades had all been in vain, because they were back to where they were when the war began. The people began expressing their discontent with the government by striking in whole cities at a time, the Tsar simply sent in the Cossacks and shot at the demonstrators. More people were behind Lenin, who was one of the Tsars most wanted main. He had to be in self-imposed exile but still sent reassurances the Bolsheviks by telegraph.”

attachment.php

We have finally reached 1914, the actual date of World War 1! The French are showing that they truly are Frog eating surrender monkeys by keeping on getting peace with Spain and Germany, which means I have to world builder in another war.

“In 1914, the Americans Captured Texas, while the Chinese attacked Mexico from the Pacific Ocean. Chinese Afghanistan was capture by India, and so a new front of aggression emerged from the south and the Tsar’s army is exhausted from fighting (Non-existent) German forces. The people are scared and are willing to support anyone who will stop the war. The Russian retreat has brought they back to the pre-war border. The people prepare for armed rebellion”

Part 2 of 2. Not including the final part.

“In 1916 an cease fire was called, and the combatant nations began discussing how to solve the problems to stop the war. This was Nicholas II last chance to stop the revolution, if we could stop the war at the peace talks the people would lay down there arms, if not it would be a full fledge revolution. However the sides were very antagonistic towards each other, both wanted to gain from the war, and had forgot why the war started, from disagreements over a congress of nations, ending the war in the same way seemed very unlikely.”

attachment.php

“Representing the interests of the allies were China, Russia, France, England, the Andean alliance and America; Representing the Axis, Greece, Spain, and Germany. The small nation of Greece went first; they wanted territory to replace that lost in the north around Hadrianopolis and Epidamnos, so they humbly asked for Baghdad. Nicholas II voted against this because it would open another front around Baku; he did not realize that if he voted yes, it would have succeeded and it could have stopped the war. All the other Allies voted against except France, which had been the battlefield of the Western front and desperately wanted the war to be finished.”

attachment.php

“The Chinese asked for a Japanese city, and Nicholas support his ally, while the Axis got revenge on the Greek decision by all voting no. The allies were split on this decision, the Americans voted no because they saw how the Chinese army could destroy the Mexican army and didn’t want them any stronger, while the English just didn’t care.”

attachment.php

“The Americans asked for Cuba so that the Spanish would not have a naval base so close to their country, Nicholas II voted yes as it weakened his enemy. (And strengthened his future one) Once again the vote was split between the Axis and Allies, while France abstained.”

attachment.php

“The Andean Alliance made an unusual demand, they wanted the British to give up their Caribbean base to them; the Tsar abstained, not wanting to choose between allies.”

attachment.php

“The Tsar himself asked for the German Lapland, wanting to close a front, once again not realizing the reason behind the vote was to end the war, and therefore it would not be a front. The vote did show who Russia’s true allies were.”

attachment.php

“After having their homeland burned, there nation raided, all the Germans asked for was another Italian city to replace Venice, the allies were too proud and said no, when the telegraph lines broadcast this decision to Russia, the people wanted to revolt then and there, but Lenin convinced them to wait out the rest of the congress.”

attachment.php

“The British asked for the Island of Hispaniola, Nicholas voted yes to weaken Spain, while the Americans Abstained because they did not want a British base near there country either.”

attachment.php

“The French asked for Somalia, but the Americans, being former colonists, did not want to see the Somalia becoming a colony.”

attachment.php

“The Spanish wanted a Mexican city to replace their lost colony of Texas, overwhelmingly, nobody liked the Mexicans so the Spanish won. The results of the congress got the Spanish to drop out of the war, but it did nothing to stop the war against Germany.”

“All over the front troops just got out of their trenches, and began to march on Moskva! THE REVOLUTION HAD BEGUN! Peasants from all over the empire rose up and fought the oppressor. Tsar Nicholas II was trapped in his own capital. The Tsarist whites, and the Red Army fought it out for 1 year, and by 1917 the Tsar had been killed! Lenin set up his council socialist government in Moscow in the same year. The Soviet Union had been born! What was to come would be heroic tales of building a new nation with a new ideology, and struggles for power in which I played a part. The Rule of the people through communism would go on to dominate the world! Unfortunately I could not play a bigger part in it; I write to you, comrades, from exile in Mexico”
---- Leon Trotsky, 1930.

End of prologue

Nice updates! I really like your historical writing style :goodjob:

Great update!!!

Thanks to everyone who has stuck with this from the begining and rejoining in after the Hiatus. I Give you the USSR! Soon every nation will feel the might of Communism!

This update is to transition from Trotsky to Lenin as the Narator, and to provide information on my empire. I will start it off with some Lenin quotes, it will be a tradition so when i start with Stalin there will be Stalin quotes, and so on.

Chapter 1: Lenin

“The government is tottering. We must deal it the deathblow an any cost. To delay action is the same as death.”

“It is true that liberty is precious; so precious that it must be carefully rationed.”
-----------------Vladimir Lenin

“Comrades we have taken control from our oppressors! No longer will the shackles of Serfdom bind us; we will move forward to the pedestal of Communism! But first we must industrialize, produce more my comrades, for your country! The transition will be hard, and people who refuse to embrace the revolution will stand in our way. Do not hate foreigners, even if they stand in our way for they have yet to joined us in worldwide revolution. The Russian empire is a vast land and it has everything we need to establish a foothold for communism and spread it too the world! For many years we have been ruled by the Tsars, but now we will be govern by a council, or a Soviet, as we like to call it. Many different peoples inhabit this great land, we will allow those peoples to govern themselves as council socialist republics, or Soviet socialist republics, all united as one in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics!”

attachment.php

“The union consists of 7 Soviet Socialist Republics, and 2 Soviet Socialist federal republics: The Ukrainian, Byelorussian, Turkmen, Tajik, Uzbek, Kyrgyz, Kazakh, and the Russian Federation and Transcaucasian federation. All united under Communism!”

attachment.php

Just before the Golden age is when the war started, now I will pretend this was before the war so that I have a goal to shoot for under communism; basically saying that the economy has recovered to pre war levels would be to say golden age during war. (My economy was very strong; that is how I am so stable) So here goes I am going to lie, or Lenin is going to lie about the background circumstances of the game in which he inhabits. Best not overcomplicate things then…

“The War and the revolution have taken its toll on the Russian economy, we will have to work hard, comrades, to match the pre war levels (Which are golden age levels)”

attachment.php

Yes, I can out produce nearly every other nation on earth combined, for those of you who think England is a better rival, score is not everything, America, with Denver, Santa Fe and San Antonio added has better production, and I am pretty sure with a little TLC from the World builder God, America will be able to out produce the British Empire in everything by the time I need a rival.

attachment.php

That little blip down is when the war started.

attachment.php

I am the most powerful nation on earth. You can see that people started ramping up their power when the war started, especially China. But my army has been consistently growing as most of my cities have all the buildings that were possible at the time because of my massive production.

attachment.php

Before Communism only 58% of the people approved of my governing, let us see if we can improve that number. I am very much the largest country in the world, (As I should) If it was not for my technological backwardness I could take over the world, so that is what communism needs to improve upon.

Now for rivals, some people say England is better, I say ‘why not make both my rivals?’ If I have a falling out with China then they can be too. Since we are now communist I will have to be more Isolationist and I will have to alienate the Capitalists.

It was a shame msot of lenin's reign was in anarchy, because i wanted to do more updates with him. Well anyway this is Lenin: Part 2.

“The capitalist nations refused to give peace to us, and so we fought them as well as the whites over control of Russia in 1917. The red army fought valiantly to secure the border against the Germans, but they were anxious to stop as the soviet had promised them that the fighting would stop. Meanwhile Russia was under war communism, it was impossible to from a central government and so the Red army took what it could from the people. They resisted but later they would be grateful they had the honour to feed the liberator of peoples!”

attachment.php

“1918 the Soviet had been able to strike deals with the Nations of Germany, India, Greece, and Mali for peace. The USSR had finally left the war. The Far away nation of Mexico refused peace, but they were too far away to harm the people. We could not rest however as we still fought the Whites for control of the Motherland!”

attachment.php

“Prior to the revolution China and England were Tsarist Russia’s greatest friends, however now both are capitalist. We must hope their revolutions will come sooner rather than later.”

“Fighting with the whites over control of Mother Russia went into the 1920’s; Trotsky led the Red Army well and we won every battle, but the sheer volume of Battles wore down the Red army, and more supplies had to be taken from the peasants to keep the army going under war communism.”

attachment.php

In celebration of Communism I decided to give myself the SoL, or Statue of Lenin in Leningrad. Mt. Rus in Moscow and the Sovietgon in Stalingrad (Which is still called Tsarcyn for the purpose of the story.) Hurray for Sovietizing America’s most precious Icons! Mt. Rus is a mountain that carves the greatest leaders of the Soviet Union into a hill near Moscow. The Sovietgon is a military control building for the soviet armies. I put it in Stalingrad because it produces great engineer points and that is going to be engineer city.

“By 1922 the last white stronghold of Ekaterinburg was captured, we had done it! We had undisputed control of mother Russia and the will to mould it however we pleased. All remnants of the Tsars were dismantled. St-Petersburg was renamed Leningrad in my honour. I believe that getting rid of the Imperialist name was more important to the revolution than giving it a communist name. We must erase all traces of the Tyranny that was ruling over us. Ekaterinburg was renamed Sverdlovsk. Now that the war was over we needed to replace war communism with a new system, I proposed the New Economic Policy, which allowed small businesses while large industries were controlled by the state. In a form of State capitalism, this was to be temporary measure fro the transition. The Party began constructing many new industries all over the European SSRs and in the south of Urlaskiy and Siberskiy and in Irkuskiy, while in other areas we focused on agriculture development. We seized all the land from the people who owned large estates and gave it to the workers who actually farmed it. The owners were given two options, either relinquish their rights to the land and start farming a small plot themselves instead of being lazy and making others to it for them, or be relocated to Siberia. While the NEP did produce more grain than before the war, the farmers were reluctant to sell the grain to the industrial workers because there were no products to buy, and so the city dwellers starved because the farm workers did not embrace the revolution.”

“It is now 1924, *cough* I have been bedridden for sometime now. But I have seen my country develop from a Tsarist regime to a glorious socialist republic. In this letter I have written my final wishes as to who is to be my successor, do not open it until I say so, or death arrives to me*cough* respect my wishes”

Within months the Greatest of all Men passed away. He did not see the completion of his plans for industrialism in his lifetime. That would be up to his successor.

Anyway not part fo stroyline just soem observations. After the Communsit revolution on the graphs the Gold takes a major spike up, even higher than the golden age levels, and then goes down alot. The production stays the same, but food shot up like a rocket, thanks to all the watermills. Stalin is next, I need to get tanks during his reign to conquer with. I currently am at 1926, so if i take a deficit and build science in all factory cities for all turns I can get to a almost completely researching railroad. Then i will pay England to top it off. Then I need to reasearch Physics>Electricity>Industrialism + Combustion and improve a well to get tanks. Can we do it?

attachment.php

Anything is possible under Communism!

But seriously, if i pull this off I will pretty much be doing it the way Stalin did, through a mixture of Slavery, agressive tech trading and beelining.
