RFC South and South East Asia

For the map, there are a few areas that look like they could use some work. Borneo and the Philippines are pretty funky looking, so you might want to just rework them. The isthmus of Krai should be expanded to two tiles wide if you don't want civs to sail straight through it ;). Malaysia, Sumatra, and Java could use some refinement. Sri Lanka could be exaggerated to make it more playable, if you need. The map as a whole could use more mountains. Also, I'd recommend using the blue marble terains, they're the best ones around imo.

And kudos on rapid progress!

What is the isthmus of Krai?

I think he means the Isthmus of Kra, which is the narrowest part of the Malay peninsula.

Am I the only one who is interested in making this mod?
I'm putting half of my time in this mod...but if I have to do all work alone...work shall soon be delayed or cancelled...

It's your project, what did you expect? Especially considering the tone in which you attack people who do want to contribute (I remember someone suggested a Chola LH a while back which you rudely dismissed because it doesn't fit your vision).

If you want complete control, you have to do all of the work.

Then that's a very big problem because I can slightly modify Python(not to the degree of RFC and I can NOT edit the SDK/gamecore DLL.
Then I guess all hope is lost and I can stop making progress?
And If YOU do NOT want to help, what are you doing here on this thread,be gone!
I banish you from this thread, forever!:mwaha:

If you don't want to hear what I have to say, there's always the ignore button. I will not let someone like you tell me where to post.

You've made it sound from the beginning that this is your project, so I think it's no wonder everyone assumed you have the necessary skills to pull it off.

If you knew you'd have to rely on (may I add, considerable) help from others, why didn't you rephrase the OP? Why didn't you outright say that it's only a suggestion on your part, that you would like to have a mod focusing on this era, and that your contribution will be to research factions and doing maps, for example?

But you had to magnanimously tag your name on it, didn't you?

OK STOP IT.
Peace ^^v

Nah,
I think the map needs some improvement almost everywhere :)

Though, I strongly suggest you focused only Southeast Asia and start with SoI engine, since it'll be easier to do, will looks better and more accurate, IMO.
There are about 25 dynasties ++ of India and there are like 25 ++ too Kingdom and Regency in Southeastern Asia.. Which if you want to add everything, it'll be like 50 Civilization and too much..

Honestly, I am so interested in this mod since I am a native Indonesian; You don't actually need to worry about historical facts, yet I can help doing XML and little python.

But still, I'm agreed with Leo's opinion.

I will not remake the map,I will improve it.
Look at my tentative civilization list,it does not includes all dynasties and kingdoms of the region.
Did I say this was my project?
Maybe, when I get some help we call it "our project".
I'm the founder of the project.
And what is the "OP"?
Does the title of this thread says:"Rhye's and Fall of South East Asia(owned by Civciv5)"?
It's my birthday and this is quite frustating after a great day.

Sorry, I didn't mean to ruin your birthday or anything. You shouldn't let everything other people say get so close to you.

Dealing with criticism is important if you want to improve.

Happy Birthday:)

I have something to contribute: a model for the Prambanan (i seperated a part from the indian city set and reskinned it). But it still lacks a witty effect...
The best thing about modding RFC is that you can do a lot with python. The best thing to get familiar with python are UHVs; just look at what other UHVs look like and try to copy what you need. That's how i started.

Can you send me the Prambanan graphic, please?

Before I got started, I had no clue, and tbh, I still probably couldn't code anything original atm. You really just have to dive in if you want to learn.

Also, the chances of organizing a team effort are fairly slim, since there are so many regional RFCs emerging. People usually gravitate to the bigger projects, so you have to build it up first, and hope that people will notice.

I would agree that basing it off SoI is a good idea.

And pace yourself :P No one's expecting you to finish this anytime soon, and you don't want to burn out on it.

Hey civciv5, happy birthday! :bday:

If I may make a few suggestions:

When I started mod I somehow also thought that people would flock to help me. I quickly found out this isn't the case. I also discovered how quickly one can actually pick up modding skills if one so desires. Trust me, if you are not going to work on this unless someone helps you out, this project will never begin. If you want this project to happen you have to take it somewhere first. I understand you don't really know much modding, but neither did I when I started my mod. I literally knew zero python, and the minimal c++ I knew was because of c++'s similarity to java, a language I had a tiny bit of experience with it. The many friendly modders of these forums helped me out a bunch.

I think that's it's important to adopt a positive, can-do attitude. For example I sincerely thought I'd never be able to do graphics but I changed my mind and am now working on my first LH. The initial learning curve will be steep- but trust me, it gets better.

Another thing- we modders on this forum love seeing a new guy enter the brave new world of modding. But you gotta be courteous. I know you can be courteous, for a brief window you actually were, between when you added your LH's back to the database and before those last few posts. Remember that we have our own mods, lives, etc. We're more than willing to help you, but demanding that we do stuff is just plain rude. Besides, it's much more enlightening to do it yourself. I understand the frustration one can feel when there's a particularly difficult project ahead and you're the only one working on it and are convinced that the task is impossible. But trust me it's not. Experience has taught me otherwise.

In any event, good luck with your mod. I will be sure to follow closely :)

Agree 100%. Most, if not all people who are part of the RFC modding community and have the necessary skills to create a mod from scratch have them because they found out that nobody was going to realize their ideas and started to learn it for themselves. This is why they are all occupied with their own project(s) and don't have the time to fully commit themselves to another.

That doesn't mean we can't help if you need it for specific problems.

Thanks for all the sympathy.
I can do much work on the mod,but I don't think I will ever learn Python or DLL/SDK.
I tried to edit the gamecore ten times following a guide, but still can't do it.
I can do very little Python, all I can do is copy and paste and modify some changes but that's it.
I hope that I don't have to do everything alone.
I can post the mod in a link if you want...
