(RFC) The Ottoman Empire

You're thinking of Albania. I ran a game with them earlier today actually. Teched like a snail, but I got a small army together. Then Italy declared and that was game over.

Anyhow, Greece has two cities, though one is on an island separate from the capital; not sure about the military status.

When I was playing around with Open Play Germany, I don't think they had anything more than a couple 10 strength infantry...

Yah, I've been messing around on the Road to War scenarios and they're great fun to play if you play as one of the major allies or axis powers or the USSR, but you're almost guaranteed to lose with one of the smaller nations. For example, Poland's infantry has a strength of 15 while Germany has infantry with a strength of 25. Not to mention the fact that Germany could beat up on Poland by sheer force of numbers. So if you guys are looking for a cool story with lots and action and that lasts beyond 1939, you guys should vote for one of the major powers ;)

which is wrong, because Poland is so much underrated in WWII
they weren't that weak, and their soldiers were good enough to endure the German assault for some time, if it wasn't for the Soviets.

no, play as greece. they were the first to beat in battle the axis forces. if not choose japan.

Poland had to win some battles, and so did France.

france wasnt taken over in 6 hours?

the first to defeate axis forces where the greeks. also some historians regard the German campaign in Greece as decisive in determining the course of World War II, maintaining that it fatally delayed the Axis invasion of the Soviet Union.

No, the Battle of Britain concluded before the invasion of Greece, and secured Britain against a German Invasion.

Ok, lets stop this discussion.

John Keegan, argue that the greco-italian war may have influenced the course of the entire war by forcing Germany to postpone the invasion of the Soviet Union in order to assist Italy against Greece. This led to a delayed attack and subjected the German forces to the conditions of the harsh Russian winter, leading to their defeat at the Battle of Moscow.

What we were discussing.

greece, they were the first to beat in battle the axis forces.

And The Battle of Britain marked the first defeat of Hitler's military forces, with air superiority seen as the key to victory. I proved my point, I am done.

Yes, lets stop.

I agree. Historically, Poland did quite well considering the strategic situation it was in. However, to make the WWII scenario viable I'm assuming that the creators had to make Germany's troops so much better in order to simulate Germany's rapid conquests. I would like to see a tweaked scenario though that gave some smaller states a better chance at survival.

if you want to play as a major power, play as japan and nuke usa.

Eh, I never really liked the Pacific theatre of Road to War. Never seemed like taking the islands was really necessary...

But, of course, this is Icaria's story, and he probably doesn't care what I think of the Pacific theatre.

I just discovered that as Yugoslavia in Road to War 1936, if you can build up enough to survive the initial attacks from the Axis powers, you can beg land and huge amounts of money from your new Allied friends. :D Before my client crashed and I lost a huge amount of turns, I had controlled only one of my original cities (Hungary and Germany double teaming got the others) but had 4 cities in North Africa, and was making 1600 gold a turn, as well as diverting Italian resources to keeping one of their own cities out of my hands. :D

It was a lot of fun.

Just an update. I'm leaning toward playing as Germany in Road to War. That is all.
