The Ottoman Empire has now pushed far enough East. If the Ottoman Empire is to be able to combat the European, Christian states, then the Mediterranean must be made an Ottoman lake. Once Ottoman ships are able to ply the great Sea, then Ottoman armies can march deep into Europe.
In recent years, the Ottomans have proven to the Islamic world their epic faith by proselytizing Islam among the Ottoman Empire. Eager to celebrate this phenomena in the Empire, the city of Baghdad finishes the Wat Preah Prisnulok in 1500.
In the same year the Sultan recieves a strange diplomat who arrived in Istanbul from some distant land of the North. Coveting the riches of the Black Sea, the Russian barbarians inform the mighty ruler of the Ottoman Empire that war has erupted between their nations. The Sultan laughs at the Russian diplomat for his impetuous declaration and, besides sending a regiment of Janissaries to defend the port city of Kefe, he chooses to ignore the Russian menace for the time being.
Instead, he orders his troops that had been stationed in Jerusalem to conquer Egypt for the Ottoman Empire. In 1525, knights serving under the Sultan conquer the city of Kahire in Egypt.
In the same year, a stack of Russian troops appears outside the newly built walls of Kefe. Fielding only two cannons the Russians attempt to invade the city. However, the Sultan had sent a relief force by ship to be carried to Kefe. Arriving just before the initial Russian assault, the Ottomans were able to beat back the Russian menace and obliterated their invading force.
Ottoman generals in Egypt decide to keep up their conquests in the Mediterranean while the Russians harass Ottoman forces in the Black Sea. In 1530, they capture the important city of Alexandria. It's great lighthouse and Great library immediately improve the Ottoman economy.
After a couple years of building up a new force in Ottoman Egypt, Ottoman armies continue their march west along the coast of the Mediterranean. Eventually, the Ottomans discover a new nation known as the Mali who own the city of Tripolis along the coast. They are vassals to some European nation known as England. Refusing to acknowledge any obstacles in their path, Ottoman generals issue a declaration of war to the Mali and England and storm the city in 1565.
In 1585, a renewed Russian army makes its way down to port city of Kefe. With another infusion of Ottoman troops, the Russians are beaten back. So far, the Russians have not proven themselves to a significant danger to the Ottomans. However, their attacks on Kefe are diverting needed resources to the North, while Ottoman forces need more troops in the west if they are to be able to keep up their conquests there.
In the same year, the Ottomans discover that various European states have established bases and cities in North Africa. Infuriated by this turn of events, the Ottomans declare war on the French and march deep into Tunisia. After a shooting match between French musketeers and Ottoman Janissaries, the city of Tunis falls.
Ottoman forces in the west have been seriously depleted, but there are still enough forces present to ensure a few more Ottoman successes in the area. Believing it was time to rest and view the progress of the Ottoman state, the Sultan orders a map of the Empire to be made.
The Ottomans have made enemies of almost all of Europe. Their armies continue to capture city after city in North Africa and soon, the Ottoman Empire will have the Mediterranean bases to launch attacks on the Europeans by sea and protect Ottoman lands from European naval landings. So far, Ottoman conflicts with the Europeans have been made while the Ottomans had the advantage of numbers and geography. However, the Ottomans cannot be sure that this trend will continue in the future. Now, they must look for allies in other parts of the world. They must unite the disparate nations of the East in a mighty alliance able to defend their interests against the intrusive Europeans!
