Riddle (I dont have the answer)

@Ultima Dragoon: I am utterly unconvinced.

There is no theoritical reason (again as far as I can think of right now) why any "solid" food is necessary for long term sustenance. I can probably agree that milk alone will not suffice; but that does not mean that you cannot concoct a liquid only diet consisting of variety of liquids which will constitute a wholesome diet.

Can you name a single nutritional component that is not existent in liquid form in nature (or cannot be created in a liquid form). I very much doubt! Even if such a hypothetical nutritional component existed, all you would need to do is smash it up and dissolve it in water and drink it.

I agree it would get very boring though.

You misunderstand.

You can live only on foods in liquid form, but they would have to be especially made.

I was saying that milk cannot be lived on alone.

But the protein in milk solidifies in the stomach, because the acid denatures it (really quickly too). That's why a cup of milk fills you up, but a cup of pop doesn't.

So, that must count as solid food.

If you were to get all your nutrients from water-soluble sources, it would be rather tough. You'd need to drink short-chain proteins. I also don't know how you'd get your fats, except if you could count emulsification.

Don't know...

I was thinking about money, but the poor don't have that...

And then germs, but the rich doesn't need it...

Don't know...

Or maybe dirty money?

When asked this riddle, 80% of kindergarten kids got the answer, compared to 17% of Stanford University seniors.

What is greater than God,
More evil than the devil,
The poor have it,
The rich need it,
And if you eat it, you'll die?
Duh, it's stanford.
Either way, at such an age your more likely to think further into the problem. Instead of a silly answer such as "nothing" they can really go far into thought, and maybe still find something to fit said description.

I say Pot!
Greater than God(if you don't believe in him)
More evil then the devil(depends on your point of view)
the poor have it(well not all of them)
the rich need it(sometimes people just need to relax)
and if you eat it, you'll die(if you have to much you get "baked")

being really nitpicky, you can eat NOTHING and still live. You just have to drink enough. ;)
True, you can just blend up stuff and drink it all down. :)

I met a woman once who claimed to have done a juice "fast" (not really a fast because you're drinking alot of juice) for something like 400 days.

heh heh, I don't think pot'd kill you to eat though.

The eat it and poor have it lines give it away. Kindergarteners focus on those ones, while college students try to overcomplicate things and probably focus on the god/devil thing. Getting it wrong is all a matter of overcomplicating the riddle.

well i ahve one

there are 22 birds sitting on a telephone wire. a hunter goes by, and seeing the birds, he shoots at them with a gun, killing 5 of them. how many birds are left? why?

p.s. sorry if this is stupid and easy for you.

wow, right on!! most people dont get it because its so simple i guess. btw this was on the test we took in the elementary school in Iran, sorta like an IQ test, only to determine who belonged to the school for the gifted.

5.

He never picked them up.

I think chocolate answers this riddle...

~edit! oops, thats to the first one.

To the latest:

4.

He didnt pick them up, and his hunting dogs ate one :p

You should notice that it is impossible to answer to the second problem. You have no means to count all the birds in the world...

(the problem did not specify _where_ the birds would have to be, nor did it define whether they would have to be alive or dead or if either would do)

Couldn't the answer also be faith?

Faith is what made God,
It is more evil than the devil as religious faith has caused many wars,
Poor people tend to have more faith than the rich, whom in turn need it (for some reason),
The last bit kinda dooms it though, eating faith? :P
