Riddle of Ages: Travelling Through History

Alright, it's been almost a month. I guess I can do this again. Here it goes:

For years he was the scourge of the seas,
His heart flying high, aloft in the breeze.
Old Ben taught him all he knew,
and his names were more than few.
But then he brutally met his end
With all the wounds his body could not mend.

It's a bit general, so I'll post clues if it gets to far off track.

Blackbeard.

For years he was the scourge of the seas,

Obviously, he was a pirate.

His heart flying high, aloft in the breeze.

His flag had a heart on it.

Old Ben taught him all he knew,

Not sure about this one.

and his names were more than few.

There's several different records as to how his last name was spelled.

But then he brutally met his end
With all the wounds his body could not mend.

His body was shot and cut dozens of times when he died.

Okay, I'll try my hand at a riddle:

A strike in the city of winter
A revolution against a revolution
A train from an enemy shall enter
From the endless war with no resolution

The change came unexpected and fast
Of the war and starvation, they'd had enough
A moon would be named, but already past
An ancient system couldn't keep up

Russian Revolution? (Specifically, I'm thinking of the storming of the Winter Palace.)

Yeah, that one. A bit too obvious, I see.

Open floor.

I'll do it.

EDIT:

Fed up of a crown,
The final spark was tainted grease,
Revolts, the white man retreating behind crumbling stone,
A city now under siege.
In the east, white men in a black pit

Alas, it was too little,
It would be another ninety years,
But a Company did fall.

Yeah, I suspect it's the Indian Mutiny, or something relating to it.

All right, cool, guess I get a shot at this. Something simple I did a while back for some reason.

In one day, two green, two tan went ashore
where friends had dropped in before.
No one arrived on time or in the right places,
but a party was had nonetheless.
They were opposed and welcomed,
on a crusade to end the false peace.

Bowsling got it.
