Rise and Fall of House Julii

Wow, these units are great. We could need a standard Elephant size now... maybe CivArmy's? All the years no Jumbos and now they're stampeding...

olala, mamma mia, lots and lots of units.....

Ye I agree. Imperator has been working very hard on getting these units finished and there are still more to come.

I guess I should give you all a little history about these units. I contacted King Louise Assurbanipal (KLA) who is a unit creator and member of the RTW twcenter forum, and asked him for his permission to convert his RTW units for use in CivIII conquests. He generously agreed to allow the conversions. I spent a great deal of time trying to find someone who could convert the 3D graphic of the units but because for some technical reason converting the units was impossible. I contacted Imperator some time ago and supplied him the images of some units I needed for my Napoleonic Wars scenario (KLA units also ) which Imperator happily was able to create from scratch.
I then ask Imperator if he could do the same with these units. his response was " Send me the images" which I did and he has created all of the units using just these images like the one below.

I can not even imagine how difficult this must be. Creating these beautiful units using only a picture, like the one above, with such attention to details.
All praise for these units belongs to Imperator. I must say that Imperator has sent me the Story boards so that I can help him in a small way by converting the storyboards into the required FLC files. So any flaw in the FLC's is mine and mine only. I should also apologize to Imperator for being such a pest and bugging him so often ( I can only use my excitement about his great work as an excuse ). I get so excited every time I receive a batch of these units that I can't wait to receive the next Batch.

Imperator

Thank you my friend. You are amazing and I can't begin to tell you how grateful I am.
AHHH when's the next batch going to be ready ?

oh, i remember king louis assurbanipal, since my lurking on thr rtw forums, great unit creator and kind in his gesture. also i am happy with such a large addition of units, though i might be worried a little of their darkness, they should be a little brighter so they match with other units around....yeah, i know, does not sound well, but they should be more optimistical.

Nitpick: The centurion in King's picture looks very fantasy-ish. Lorica segmentata, gladiator arm protection, greek shield, macedonian helmet decorations... I guess his other units are better / more historical?

When you have 76 armies of legionaries against puny workers - it's damn optimistic! :)

Not into the eyebrow, but into the eye question. Guardian?

Actual, when we began this project, Imperator asked me if it would be OK for him to have some artistic leaway rgarding the coloring of the units. I of course told him I had complete confidence in him, and he has not let me down one once. His renditions of some of the units are actually better for game purposes and historical accuracy than the originals. The Tribune that he made is a good example.

I just had an idea that might solve some of my previous problems regarding trade and unit production.

I would like to hear your comments and ideas on this.

I am thinking of creating a unique strategic resource for each civ. This resource would be placed in each capital. There would be a number of basic units that would not require any resources for production, like early units, warriors, archers, slingers, horsemen, spearmen etc, and more advanced, stronger units like legions, roarii, cavalry, elephants, phalanx etc would require the resource. Homeland cities would not be able to build the stronger units until they are connect to the capital by roads. The stronger units would also not be able to built in foreign lands until they can connect to the capital and would thus not be able to produce the stronger units until much later in the game.

Regarding improvements, again basic improvements would not require the resource while more advanced improvements would and certain improvements, like military academies, senate, certain wonders and small wonder would only be able to be built in the capitals.

Trading centers can be establish in each capital, that produce trade goods that can be converted to cash to represent trade.
So how about it, what do you think?

I have just received the latest installment of units from Imperator. A total of 24 units including ;
Iberians, Judeans, Libyans, Carthaginians, Phoenicians, Spartans, and more. These may be some of the best units he's made so far, and brings us ever closer to completion of the scenario. There are only a few more units to be completed. When he has finished, I start on the civilopedia file, make some final adjustments and we should be finished sometime early in the coming new year.

I want to express my thanks here for the awesome work that Imperator has done on all the units. The work that he has done is simply incredible, fantastic, and awesome.
He IS The Imperator.

I have posted the Iberian Lancearii in the unit creation thread as an example of what you can expect to find when the scenario/mod is released. :goodjob:

Thanks for the news , Guardian .It will allow me to have more fun to conquer lands and rule them :)

I would like to thank also The Imperator for everything :)

Currently working on a roman set in the definitive series :)

Upon its completion there will be a greek, roman, germanic and persian one ready. Is there any need for an egyptian? (that is if you prefer this series to the other one)

Guardian, I have a quick question(s) about scenario units - will there be chariots? If yes, what civs they'll belong to? And if it's possible... :) Is there a possibility to preview them the same way you did with units previously (to post .gif's)? Thank you!

Of course we wait some news, too!

LOL Yes there will be chariots. I will be using most of the existing chariot units including:
All of Bebro's resized chariots
Assyria - Celts - Etruscans - Romans - Egyptians - Huns - Berbers - Greeks - Judeans Macedonian - Parthia - Troy - Pontus

Each civ will also have unique workers and settlers, thanks to Plotinus.

I have also used other ancient units by Bebro, Plotinus, Virote, Sandris, Utah Jazz, Shiro, H. Balck, to fill in some basic units, primarily non-Roman. However, many non Roman units are new, particularly Carthaginian, Greek, and Macedonian.

Now for the good news. Imperator is working on the last of the units I have requested of him and making a few adjustments in some already completed units.
There are currently 430 units in the game and I anticipate this will increase to about 440.
Including approx 20 new hoplite units, new elephant unit, new camel unit, funditores, Camillian Cavalry, Carthage Sacred band, Lybian Allied troops, and much more.

I am working on the civilopedia ( lot of work here ) and trying to finalize the unit stats and techs.

There are also 227 buildings most of which are new. ( lot of civilopedia work to be done here too ).

Included with the scenario will be a complete unit stat sheet for each civ as well as historical data, maps, and other pertinent info.
The map is huge and I have done my best to make it as accurate as possible. The first release will on have starting locations for each the 24 civs included in the mod.

After version 1 is released, I plan on starting a second version with all cities and starting units in place.

Well, I better get back to work or this will never get finished.
