Rise And Rule Revisited (epic mod)

Hi Gmelchett,

thank you very much for your kind words about RARR and your continuing interest in RARR and RAR. :)

It is intended, that those fundamentalist units don´t need any resources. This was the setting in RAR and this setting was used for RARR, too. At present in most cases RARR only is a graphical update of RAR. The fundamentalist units, that don´t need any resources are not as strong as the fast units of that time, that need resources as a perequisite. This kind of setting is frequently used in mods to fill up gaps in gameplay. So the setting of the Teutonic Knight (and its equivalents) is no error.

I´m still working on the next update of the RARR biq, that is using the same main files as CCM2 (the mod that borrowed RARR a lot of its Graphics). It is noted to enlarge the list of city names for the civs in RARR . For identical civs, the much bigger lists of city names for CCM2 can be used.

Hi, I have been playing some more and I think there may be an issue with the French AT infantry. They seem to have too few hit points.

I'm playing (again) as Germany, despite no horses, I can build Teotonic knight (with movement 3). I think I should need horses to build these.

No, building of the Teutonic knight doesn't doesn't require resources (I have spotted in the editor).

A question, is it possible to add more default city names? I'm always getting into New Berlin, etc..

...\Conquest\Civ3ConquestsEdit.exe (only version 1.00 is necessary, version 1.03 will break some things in a game)

Rules - Edit Rules... - Civilizations - Germany - City Names:

You add new names. You begin a new game.

Thanks. But I have version 1.03 - where do I find the older version?

If by some chance you (still) have an original Conquests install-disc (which hasn't been screwed by Micro$oft disabling the 'secdrv.sys' copy protection), then the Conquests Editor v.1.00 should be on there somewhere.

Back up your current install, e.g. by renaming your "...Civ3/Conquests" folder to ".../Civ3/Conquests ORIGINAL", re-install Conquests from the disc to your current ".../Civ3/" location, locate the ConquestsEditor .exe in the new install, rename it as e.g. "ConquestsEditor v100" (so you don't over-write v.1.03), move it to ".../Civ3/Conquests ORIGINAL", delete the new install, rename ".../Civ3/Conquests ORIGINAL" back to "...Civ3/Conquests". Now you have both Editors in one folder.

But if you're using a DL-version of Civ3InComplete (from Steam, GoG, etc.), you may be SOL unless you can find 'someone' willing to help you out.

Thanks. But I have version 1.03 - where do I find the older version?

More than 10 years ago, I explained the modding of Civ 3 in a thread in German language, called 'Civinators Modding-Ecke'. In that thread there is also a chapter about editors for Civ 3.

At the bottom of that post, the C3C editor 1.00 is attached as a zip file. As this file now is there for more than 10 years, I think the link can be posted here, too, especially as Firaxis never fixed the error of the lost scientific leaders in the later version of its editor.

Not to say, that the Quintillus editor, that was not available more than 10 years ago, does that job perfectly and has some other advantages, that all Firaxis editors are missing.

ynot56, I will have a look at this unit.

That is Quintillus editor can be used for editing RARR? Or not?

Yes, it can. :yup: I have never tried Steph´s editor, but if Takeo posts, that it works, too, I´m sure it will also work. :)

Hi there! Found a wee bit of bug)) Nothing crucial.

Izengrimm, thank you very much for reporting that error. :) In the RARR files the S103Run.wav is missing. That error was discovered during the tests of CCM2, that also contains that unit and the missing file was added to that unit in the CCM2 mod. jlvfr, may be you have added that sound file to RARR, too.

In the next version of RARR (that will hold a combined unit file with CCM2 and CCM 1) this error is fixed. In the meantime I attache that sound file to that post.

Hey guys,

This mod looks amazing and i'm only just getting back into Civ 3 (for the first time in over a decade) - i'm old and really not technical at all, I don't understand mods and I barely understand downloading things in general. I have Civ 3 Complete on Steam. Would love to try this mod.

Can someone please provide me with the link to download and give me a step by step guide to how to get it to work? Please pretend i'm your grandma, I really don't get modding. lol This looks amazing and i'd love to play, i'm salivating over those new techs and new terrains!!!

Thank you so much!!!

Hello!

Quick and simple moves: follow the main link https://www.civforum.de/showthread....d-(epic-mod)&p=6759384&viewfull=1#post6759384

Then click on these big three text lines, in big bold blue font, one by one:

Do what your browser says you to do: save it somewhere on your computer.

Then unrar\unzip\whatever all these three things into three separate folders...

Last turn: cut RARR mainfolder by clicking right mouse button and paste it to the Civilization III\Conquests\Scenarios folder

then cut two files from RARR patch and paste them to Civilization III\Conquests\Scenarios\RARR\Text folder

and finally cut RARR1.6.biq file (from the link "Download of the RARR-biq 1.6") and paste it into Civilization III\Conquests\Scenarios again

so, at last all your actions should make your Scenarios folder look like that:
Exactly like that

Alright?

Izengrimm, thank you very much for your explanation about installing RARR and your report about the British Cavalry. :)

Alright?

This is the part i'm stuck on, I can't find anything on my computer that's an entire folder for Civilization III. Is this something I do on my computer, or do I do it when the game itself is open?

The RARR patch also didn't give me the option to do anything to do it, and it asks me "How do you want to open this file?" and it's asking me to look for an App in the appstore. But doesn't do anything if I press okay.

Honestly I feel so ********. :(

I can't find anything on my computer for Civ 3 either, just the link to play it and the link to Steam. Is there supposed to be a huge file somewhere about all the Civ 3 properties? I'm so confused.

So so, I think I made some progress?

I figured out where the Civilization III folder and all it's contents were, I inputted everything (the Patch, which was never a zip or anything but just a .rar and never gave me the option to do anything with) and I put that in the Main file's text folder which I put within the Conquests/scenarios folder itself. My screen looks like your screenshot. Everything should be good to go?

But when I try to start the game from that civ-content, it just says:

Missing entry in "Scenarios/../../Conquests/Conquests/NapoleonicEurope/text/Pedialcons.text": ICON_BLD_Palace_Garden

(Only the / marks are facing the other direction, don't know how to fix the dash marks)

I'm so close but I don't know what I did wrong.
