Rise And Rule Revisited (epic mod)

I can perform a manual save of the game. When I click out of the save game window it does not disappear immediately. Almost like it is saving the game. When I activate the "load" game function the saved game is not there. I checked the virtual store and it is not there either. I am not prepared to say CCM or RARR are involved with this issue all I know this issue did not present itself until after I started using them (specifically RARR). Right now no other MODS or Scenarios will save. Thank you for your quick response.

If remembering well, long ago windows even managed to place the C3C save files into my documents folder. May be a windows search on your pc about the location of your save files can be helpful.

Ok I've search my PC for the location of any saved games with no luck at all. I did find the Auto Saves in the Virtual Store. I also found a discussion you had with one or two other people back in 2018. One of the participants in that discussion suggested moving the entire game out of the 'Program Files (x86)' folder to another location. I moved the game files to a new location and started a game. I attempted to save that game but it did not work. I did discover that Auto Save will overwrite any other Auto Saved game(s). That function may be by design?

That function may be by design?
It is not a special problem triggered by RARR or CCM. May be here some other civers can provide more help, as I am neither a programmer nor an IT-specialist.

Yes, autosave 'slots' are limited, and the game .exe will automatically start overwriting older files once the autosave-limit is reached (default limit = 5, although this can be extended by adjusting the appropriate value in the conquests.ini file), starting with the second-oldest. The 4000-BC save for the current (epic) game remains available until the next game is started, then (if the new game uses the same .biq as the previous game) it will also be overwritten.

If the new game is based on a .biq which uses a different dating-system to the previous .biq played, then I think an additional set of autosaves will be generated (up to the limit in the .ini file) rather than overwriting those from the previous game. But I'm not sure about that.

Good evening, I am still working on the unable to manually save a game issue when I ran across this error message "Art\Units\Skorry Class\Skory Class.INI." I searched this forum for posts related to this error message and found an entry in which you discuss editing the Pediaicons entry from Skory to Skoryy. Mine is not a "Steam" version of the game so I did not edit the "Labels" entries (not sure if I should have also done that or not). Anyway, After completing the recommended edit I restarted my computer. I activated an auto save of a game in progress and to my surprise I was stopped by the same error message at exactly the same point in the game. I have to assume I made a mistake somewhere in the attempt to correct the issue. Any suggestions or recommendations would be much appreciated. Thank you.

AFV717, for me it is difficult to give here any further assist, as the problem seems to be on your pc and all my settings for RARR on my pc are for the next version of that mod - and here all settings for the Skoryy class destroyer (including the biq and the pediaIcons file) are fixed for that name since nearly two years.

The fix in this post makes sense for a unit in the unit folder called Skoryy class (with a Skoryy class INI file in its unit folder), but in the old RARR biq the PRTO_entry was for a unit called Skory class (the old German name for that destroyer in Weyers Flottentaschenbuch) with.

The labels text file should not be relevant for your problem, but it is correct, that only the steam version of Civ 3 Complete needs the fixed labels text file for playing it on the normal C3C level.

I play the mod on two different computers and recently I turned to the other one and the same happened to me. I couldn't find the save file. And then I remembered that on some computers the save game will be automatically deleted. There is a simple solution however to prevent it: choose a directory where to save it. Then you will find it the next time. On the other computer there is no problem at all.

XTC,
Thank you for your reply and advice. Your solution has worked perfectly. Many thanks to everyone who took the time help.

Hello!
I started playing RARR and I think it's a really great game! I wonder how it will be, when it will be completed!! :) Wow!
At the same time, I tried to play Earth Map, but unfortunately at the Banking discovery, after about 4 rounds, game got stuck!
In Task Manager it appears as Civilization.exe not responding!!
Another matter, also on the Earth Map, which I don't know if it is ok: an army of 2 Imperial Guard, is defeated if it is attacked by a single Gost Dancer...

Thank you for your attention!
All the best!

Still playing RARR. It is a great mod and I am looking forward to the final? revision.

To help with perfecting the game, I recently noticed two things.

First is one that is likely not the fault of RARR, but Well, I thought I would mention it. I had a nuclear meltdown before finishing research on mass production. Somehow this does not seem right :).

Secondly, the Storm Trooper has a selective attack, but it is unable to recognize each unit. This leads to either attacking conventionally (if it does not recognize any units in the stack) or presenting as available for selective attack only a subset of those units present. I'm pretty sure this is not the behavior desired.

I can say nothing about the freeze you have run in after the discovery of the tech Banking. Mostly these freezes are triggered by the houseboat bug (last settler of a civ on a boat). You can have a look on that problem with the multiplayer tool. When playing C3C with the Flintlock mod, this bug is fixed. You can change continuing your game with the flintlock mod even during a game.

Such situations can always happen when playing C3C.

In RARR some buildings can melt down or explode. The explosion of buildings can happen even before nuclear plants are appearing in the game. One of these buildings in RARR is the National Ammunition Plant.

Yes, that unit has the stealth attack flag - but don´t forget: In normal C3C stealth attack will only work, if you have at least two target units in the same stack. It is not working, if there is only one target unit in that stack. This problem is fixed by the Flintlock mod, too.

Thank you both for your continuing interest in playing RARR and your kind words about this mod. :)

Thanks for the prompt response and the informative answers. I never knew the national ammunition plant could have a meltdown, makes sense.that it would have the effect of a meltdown, the labelling as a nuclear plant meltdown however, does not.

With respect to the Storm Trooper, I was referring to attacking stacks of up to dozens. With the stealth attack, sometimes I can choose to attack all units present, sometimes, I do not have the option to choose and sometimes, I have the option to choose among a subset of the total number of units in the stack,

Attached are new biqs for the RARR Worldmap. The Celts now are playable again and start in Irland. Some testings by volunteers would be very welcome before I´m posting them at page 1 of the RARR thread, as at present I don´t have the time for testing and observing those games on that map.

I attache the normal version of that worldmap and a Debug-version, where all operations by all civs can be watched (and some changes could be done during gameplay).
Hello Civinator,

is there anything new about the World Map? 2020 is quite a while. :)

No, there is nothing new about the World Map. I am still sitting over CCM 2.6 and until now I had not the time to test the Barbarian city settings that are possible with the Flintlock mod.

Not sure if anyone has said this already, but the Russian trench infantry does not have the right number of hit points (or maybe my version of RARR is just too old, I think I am the first 1.7 )

ynot56, thank you very much for reporting that error. :) In the next version of RARR (what will last some time, as first CCM 2.6 must be finished) the Russian trencher has the missing two HPs.

Hello!
Game-Mod is very good, but "luck" is present far too much...
Too many times a soldier with only one lifeline resists and defeats soldiers with 5 to 7 experience... I understand that it must be harder but not impossible... The game becomes frustrating!

I started to play the Monarch level on the Earth map, but it became impossible at one point because I hardly formed a strong army in vain because it was decimated by lower level soldiers!!!
In addition, the opponent did not have horses as a resource, but produced Gost Dancer continuously...

It's a big imbalance... I understand that sometimes a weaker soldier resists heroically, but in this game this has become a rule...
Thank you for your attention!

:spear:
Hey MilsB, there was a whole Meme regarding spearman defeating tanks for the base game. To secure victory you have to have the masses of an army or RNG might become annoying. Try to build up numbers early and to get as many unit producing wonders as possible.
Also try to use terrain bonuses and city defence to your advantage.

MilsB, as it seems I have forgotten to welcome you at CFC in your first post: MilsB, welcome at CFC! :band:[party]

I couldn´t have explained it better than Samez did it. It is a general setting of Civ 3 and not something special of this mod.
What could be done in RARR is to set the horses as prerequisites for Ghost Dancers and the other fundamentalist horsemen (Crusaders, Inquisitors and Teutonic Knights).

But what to do for balancing reasons with the Shaolin Monks for the Asiatic civs ? These civs also would need a unit with horses as a prerequisite. What Asiatic fundamentalist unit would suit for such a setting ?
