Just to clear something up. spending money in a state you do not have support in BEFORE YOUR ORDERS will not get you any support there.
i dont care if you order to spend time there before you spend the money there, i cant do that sort of "before and after" thing during the update, it will make WAY too much work when people start doing "spend time there before other candidates do, but spend money after the others do" and stuff like that.
so all orders happen at once.
the only exception is the time spent fundraising. it will take into account the support you are gaining in the state this turn. that is the ONLY time any thing in an update will take into effect anything your orders this turn achieved.

sorry if that's not how you want/immagined it, but i have ot keep it this way in order to keep the updates manageable. its already a massive undertaking complaring 16 hours of time from 8 or more players in 51 states and the money everyone spends in 51 states and i'm not gonna have myself redoing updates because the last order i read sais "do this before the other candidates do...."

no travel time. think of it as campaigning on the road (or in the airports) i thought about putting it in, but decided that it was too much a hassle for not much improvement to the game.

all: when you send orders if you put something like "Rnes8" or "president" or "election" or something like that in the PM title, that would help me a lot in sorting it from the other game i'm running (in which i try NOT to open the orders till update time)

nope sorry. you can write if you want. but i wont do bonuses for em. i like games that leave no discresionary decisions up to the mod (ie me), makes updates easier, everything is predefined and i just have to sort out all the orders and process the results, without having to decide:
"well, i think this story is worth 1 extra vote, but this one is worth 2, this one i think i'll give em 100k in cash for that".

Added to Rules:

Ties:
A tie in any category (time in state or money spent in state) will result in both candidates getting the "winning" spot. So if two people spend 3 hours each in California and a third person spends 1 hour there, then the two with 3 hours will both get 12 votes gain, and the 1 hour candidate will get 3 vote gain (noone gets the 6 vote gain).

there are two reasons for this clarification/change (i was planning to do ties a different way).
1. is the real reason. i cant figure out how to make Excell's "RANK" function to make it do anything other then give two 1st places and no second to a tie for first place.
2. this is the "official version" reason. this will promote both alliences between candidates
as in: "lets both spend 6 hours in Texas this turn, so we beat out the rest of the rabble, but still both get first place"
but it also promotes backstabbing in those alliences:
as in: "sure, great idea" but then one spends 7 hours there thereby denying his "ally" the 6 vote difference between 1st and 2nd place.


EDIt: AND there are still a couple people who did not send orders at all (and one who i hope will change orders once he reads my response to his orders). those that do not send orders at all will spend all 16 hours in their home state (thereby solidifying their hold there, but not gaining anything else)

ok, starting update now. got my spreadsheet for this game mostly automated so i'm prety happy about the start of this game.

here's the new map. Illinois is split like that cause the two candidates have the same support there. i thought about making it a blank, but that wouldnt look right so i'll do these splits for ties in a state.

i am now trying to decide how much of the backround info to post or PM to you all. should every one know how much support everyone else has in each state? what about how who spent their time. in real election both of those pieces of info are prety readily accessible, but its a LOT of work for me to figure out how to post that stuff. my spreadsheet isnt exactly designed to be posted on a forum.

there was atleast one case where a candidate spent 1 hour in a state and got 12 votes for it (no competition)

top or bottom, which number. the teal/turquose colors, one is taken (by human slaughter) and the othe is the ocean.
7 is the one you have now. and its too close to black (top 10 and top 12 proly are too, maybe even top 14)

ahhh, come on. talk about one game where you dont need too much time for orders. just randomly picking states and hours could do as well as trying to actualy think about it (which can backfire if you overthink it and start that reverse phycology thing with yourself).

if you dont log onto CFC more then once every two days then ye, it may be tough, but i dont think that's the case for you. and even then i have no problem with people sending orders for the next 2 or 3 turns in advacne if they know they wont make it to cfc to do em later.

well, it counts how many people hold the 1st place in the state (its 11 in the empty states cause everyone is tied for first with 0 votes)
i needed it so that i could see which states had real 'leaders" and which ones the spreadsheet was telling me that there's a winner even though there were two or more people with the first place # of votes.

illinois for example has a 2 in there. cause its split now.
