Role Play Challenge: Alexander Greek God of War III

looks like the AI have heard about Al and his previous attempts, and and to make this hard for you!
Libaries and currency seem like a pretty sensible choice.
I'd take out Qin first as he stands a chance of getting his UU before Suliman, and you don't want to be facing a whole load of protective Cho's - that would really slow you down!
I reckon you can probably get Suliman before gunpowder as well.

I see you have a Jewish city. Maybe you could switch to it to get into Gilgas good books and us him as a bit of a shield untill Qin and Suliman are gone? Once you nail Qin and Suliman the only Hindu is Kahn and he's the otherside of Gilga.

Also as you adviced me the other day switching to Theo, which you want to do any way, will make Zara like you abit more. Maybe you could trade your way towards Theology?

All I have to say is...

How you seem to draw this kind of luck with Al and placed into these situations is Amazing! :crazyeye:

AL the god of war is also the god of stand up comedy

I'd rebuild the army and finish off China. That will give you a nice base to tech with. Also since you've effectively cut the continent in half and separated gilg from the rest you can finish him off too. This would give only 1 border to worry about.

I wholeheartedly agree. Right now you have a long hard to defend border. Concentrate on the Chinese.
Build a temple and run a prophet asap, The shrine will not only go a long way towards fixing your cash problems but will also help deal with Zibbadoobadabalob's (or whatever that ethiopian guy's name is) cultural pressure on the holy city. Once you get CoL, I would run an artist in the holy city as well. I know it is GP pollution, but having your shrine city go into revolt every so often will really hurt your economy. If you end up with a GA then settle him there and you can stop running an artist.
Definately keep beefing up the troops. If not for an assault then in order to keep the AI from taking advantage of your vulnerable border.
GET THE MIDS. M-I-D-S MIDS

I'd worry less about getting libraries up than getting CoL for caste, which will let you run as many specialists as you wanted. Rep also gives a far bigger science boost than libraries do. I.e. you need the 'mids. Build mids in your best prod. city, and military in other cities until you have CoL, then courthouses. Check your economy advisor to get an idea of where you're losing lots of cash. don't be afraid to disband warriors/archers/etc to save on maintenance, if they're not getting you much in the way of power rating.

Try to trade for CoL and currency if at all possible. Secondarily, look for the math/construction/engineering line of techs. Machinery or Feudalism would also be good for either x-bows or longbows to defend one side of your border while a siege-based army takes out china.

I vote for CoL to use Caste System, the mids and taking out the Chinese. As it stands your economy will tank again so the only way you will be able to tech anything is by using scientists. If you can, fit Aesthetics in there as well. Usually good for trading for IW and Alpha (as per Snaatys guide). With Currency by the time you get it I think most of the AIs will have it and without any friends not worth much in trade routes. Saying that I would try to get Gilgamesh on side otherwise I think you might get attacked from all directions. Hope I'm wrong about that bit.

I'm currently playing Al mk II which I should win but economically running Vassalage and Theocracy makes it a lot harder. Big help knowing there was no Bronze or Horses at the beginning though. Couldn't resist reading the spoiler :) .

Lastly thanks for posting these games. I've enjoyed shadowing the last couple and gives me something to read at work as well ;) .

Alexander, Greek God of War: Part III

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

Now this is how I envisioned this RPC to be. Nothing but senseless bloodletting and war. Truely Glorious. We may not win, but we certainly have achieved the goal of the God of War!!!

First of all, let's take a look of Athens as we finish teching Mathematics.

Now you may ask, What the hell are you doing, build the mids!!!!! Well, we tried for 2 turns, at which time they we built by Agustus. Pyramids built before the Oracle, strange game!

We station a group of units just outside that chinese city waiting to attack, then out of nowhere...

Well, that is 5 of 6 we have been at war with. At least we have avoided Roman Prats!

Now, a few other things happened. Khan demanded copper which we agreed to (Al has no shame and will cowardly appease Ghenghis, for now). We also popped a Great Scientist which we bulbed alphabet with. Yeah poor, but we are a little strapped for techs here.

Unfortunately, we could not get our Phalynx stacks there in time and

NUTS!!! Understand we gave copper to Khan so we cannot build Phalynx at the moment.

We did quickly recapture Corinth though

Then marched our Phalynx stack into Summeria. I gotta say this Greek UU is awesome, not succeptible to anything in this timer period. Chariots are completely mowed down, and Vulture fall like crazy.

We make a trade with Qin. Yes I want to know where the iron is, and we have 2 nice supplies. One in former Ottoman lands already mined and one in a prime location in Athens BFC.

And another trade with Agustus.

We are teching currency if anyone was curious.

And we approach the Summerian capital

Sorry, we simply do not have enough troops to try it. We go and pillage some including his lone iron resoruce.

After some pillaging and screaming for Summerian blood referring Gilgamesh to the Mighty Khan RPC, we get this offer.

Smart man!

Now Khan is pleased with us but we are getting that "We have enough on our hands right now", but soon after we find out why

Nice, keept those guy busy.

We march our stack of Phalyx and spears outside the Chinese city again.

And we demanded sailing from Qin for peace, which he gave us to avoid war. We marched the stack south towards Suliman, who had some horses if I recall.

Ah yes,

We get this message, we gladly give copper to Gilgamesh, get a little friendly with him.

Sorry, back to Suliman

Remember he declared war on me first earlier, just a little payback.

And a very nice trade with Ghenghis

We are teching CoL by the way now.

Dam distractions, as I was saying before, Suliman had some horses.

Which we were trying to take, but have yet another distraction.

Just a minute Qin, Just a minute.

Zara also DoW'd on us again so I made this trade

Now back to the Turks. Yes we took Ankara and sued for peace. We have horses how!!!! Sorry no scrrenshot, damn Chinese interupting me.

Speaking of which

Not an all out attck yet as those protective leaders are hard to concentrate on when other Ais keep butting in and declaring war on us.

We captured and razed this city

To be continued..........

Alexander, Greek God of War: Part III continued

Back again

Now onto that annoying little city again

I see no use for it

OK Qin, let's talk

We finished teching to CoL, and saved here

The map of our northern area.

Sourthen area

Gotta love those donated Ottoman lands.

Techs

Ok, not bad but we certainly need HBR and construction. Those Mongol war elephants are a littel nerve wracking!!!

But I like this screenshot

Am I the God of War or what!!!!!

Our city screen

Noptice we have only a few turns until the next GP, likely a Scientists but a small chance at a Prophet (we built a temple late).

And the All important power numbers.

OK, how is the God of War doing!!!!!

I say a little peaceful expansion/economy righting. Get some war elephants and cats and take out Suliman and Qin for good. Followed by Gilgamesh who does not seam to have that many cities.

After that we shall see. Khan will fall behind in tech eventually, so I just need to make nice with him. Zara is probably the biggest threat. Agustus is a non-issue

Also, we also have the Judaist holy city.

Final;ly, civics. I have not switched yet, should we adopt caste system or stick with slavery to whip out some courthouses first???

AND WE HAVEN"T EVEN HIT 1 AD YET!!!

Whip courthouses, then exactly the targets above, though not sure on whether Qin should be first, Suli should be first, or you should go nuts and DoW on both at the same time (hahaha, yeah. . . right).

This seems so much fun, everyboy in a bloody rage even though some aren't classing warmongerers ...:)

Well, you have two holy cities, so try to get the Great Prophets for the shrines and spread the religions, that should take care of the economy, especially since they're both in prime cottage land and excellent candidates for commerce multiplying buildings.

You probably don't need suggestions on which opponent to go after next, just take down the next bloody fool who declares on you ...

You sir, are an ar$e whoooping MooooSHEEEEEN

WAR, uh, oh yeah, what is good for? Absolutely nothing!(Frankie goes to Hollywood). But the band is wrong. In this game it is FUN FUN FUN!!!! And not even 1 AD. If there would be an armageddon clock the score would be pretty high.

Hahaha! Kill them! Kill them all! Is it just me who thinks Gilgamesh spends to much time on his facial hair?

It was a shame about the mids. I'd be tempted to finish Suliman off first as his land should be quiker to improve - Qin appears to have a load of jungle.

An entertaining round, Alex is finally redeeming himself for his previous defeats. I think you invented a new economy, the if you cant research techs extort them out of your neighbours economy! ;)

I'm a bit worried about how your gonna keep defending your long strip of land with all these blood thirsty AI's about, after courthouses and a switch to caste, I reckon its back to warring pretty soon to round of your lands.

More war please! :)

I think once I have Qin eliminated that will clear one boundary. The sourthen cities are flanked by the ottomans at the moment, so I just need to intimidate Suliman to keep it safe. Gilgamesh is busy and sealed off enough for now.

More war, yes. Just let me get some jumbos, HAs, and Cats first.

Getting those Jumbos and HA's is an excellent idea, it should also allow you time to build and whip out some courthouses and other infrastructure to keep your economy afloat.

Definately go for Qin after your army and economy are rebuilt, he's further away from longbows than Suleiman so you ougtht to be able to finish him off relatively painlessly.

This is a most entertaining RPC, I can also say I'm thoroughly impressed how fast you can get through a game on marathon, I usually take this long just to play this much of a game on epic speed!

Cheers.

Whip courthouses, then exactly the targets above, though not sure on whether Qin should be first, Suli should be first, or you should go nuts and DoW on both at the same time (hahaha, yeah. . . right).

Qin should be first. He has a habit of dowing when AL attacks Suli.
