Did anyone see the 2nd Republican debates on Fox? I thought they were very well moderated. Fox must be showing it can be a real news outlet, it just doesn’t want to. Anyway, the highlight for me was when Ron Paul said basically that interventionist US foreign policy contributed to 9/11. Rudy jumped on him and the audience cheered hysterically. Of course the problem is he is right and it takes a lot of guts to say that at a Republican debate. I’m really starting to like this guy.

I heard McCain afterwards cheering Rudy on. His explanation for 9/11 is that pure evil just happened to arise in the world and perchance decided to attack the peaceful and benevolent United States. It sounds likes a witch doctor explanation. Do these guys understand history, political science, international relations- they are all PhD level disciplines of study and might have some small insight to offer.

Thats already a funny line, but your avatar makes it so much funnier:lol:

Well, that slim 1% chance that Ron Paul would even compete in the race has now eclipsed.

That isn't a new statement from him.

In fact, he has been remarkably consistent - check out what he said in 2002 about invading Iraq - and now people are finding he agrees with them. :mischief:

it's a shame he's right.

in fact, this makes me want to vote for him.

I have to admit, while I didn't agree with everything he said, I have to admire his bluntness and willingness to say what he means.

On a side note, a message for Sam Brownback, my man: Dude, quit evoking Reagan's name so much. You're not Reagan, you'll never be Reagan, just be your own man.

"While believing there is no inherent right to privacy in the U.S. Constitution"

I'm praying to my intelligent designer that he doesnt win. Even the primaries.

Shame he can't run on his strengths though...

"Brownback visited refugee camps in Sudan in 2004 and returned to write a resolution labeling the Darfur conflict as genocide, and has been active on attempting to increase U.S. efforts to resolve the situation."

Painful as it is to me to say, he's right about that. That's a legislative battle to fight, not a constitutional one.

Pah. I made this observation in the 12th grade.

Would be better if we added it in as an amendment, but we couldn't even get the equal rights amendment to pass...

I know it's not inherent, but for him to say that almost leads down the "we can do it all we want" road.

Though he did express distaste for Bush's wiretapping program. Now if that's because it was so out in the open...idk...

Indeed. :( Though can you imagine a "right to privacy" amendment crafted by lawyers nowadays? I'm betting it'd be more total words than the entire rest of the Constitution.

My guess is that wiretapping is a part of a 'right to privacy' that he doesn't like, but monitoring bedroom behavior is a part that he would like.

I'm referring to Senator Sam Brownback there, not Rep. Ron Paul. I happen to know that Paul isn't in favor of illegalizing consensual adult bedroom activities, either.

But he's anti-abortion, anti-gay marriage, and voted against a bill which would lead to anti-gay adoption measures too. Blah. I also don't know his opinion on federal funding of science, but if he's against it, that would would completely turn me off from him.

Ron Paul is still anti-immigration and pro-life. He's still not much of a libertarian.
