RPNES- Adventures in Ansei

Shadow seemed to recognize the village as something of his people. It seemed strange to Gwyneth that there would be a Shadow village here when Shadow had just said a little while back that Gwyneth was unlikely to see another Shadow around. Talking to Adriana through her own head was giving Gwyneth a royal headache, so she "thought" to Adriana:
"Come to the Smoke. We are gathered here, and you can meet myfriends, and me, in person. Talking to you like this is somewhat strange to me. It seems this was a village that was attacked and burned. I think that it was inhabited by the race of one of my friends. We could probably use your help to fight whatever did this."

"Everyone, i've been talking to someone in my head. Dont ask me how, i dont know. I've asked her to come to the smoke here. She knew of it, so must be close."
"Shadow, you seem to know quite a bit about where we are, what this village was or what happened here. And who is this Dagoth Ur?"
"Me and my father's party had been sent to help defend the Shadowfence, but were waylayed on the way by some undead. I'm the only surviver. If you can help me accomplish my father's mission, or if i can help you accomplish it, i will owe you a great debt."

OOC: Erez posted a thread saying that his computer is no more, so i dont know if he'll be around, but i wouldnt base anything on an assumed response from him for now, till we know for sure.

OOC: Oh ok.

*turns around at Gwyneth's question.*

"This wasn't a Shadow Village, but it seems some of me kin were here, and I guess the undead got here and burnt everything to a crisp. Well, for now we can wait around. Oh, let's see Adriana too."

The nature lover thought to me;Come to the Smoke. We are gathered here, and you can meet myfriends, and me, in person. Talking to you like this is somewhat strange to me. It seems this was a village that was attacked and burned. I think that it was inhabited by the race of one of my friends. We could probably use your help to fight whatever did this."
I slunk even closer and saw her making the strange cawing sounds that two-legs used as speech.
I deemed the time right , and went to the midst of them, and stood still.
The three shes lept into each other, screaming, but the he just stood there and looked at me, like he was merely considering to draw his sword when i thought to all the two-legs: Do not be afraid. I come without bad thoughts The nature-lover among you knows who I am. I am Adriana. Who are you?

OOC: I'm taking a few liberties with your characters, DO PM ME if you don't like any of this. It's mainly to get the dialogue going.

Circon was by now quite close to the smoke.
It turned out to be a burned village. Nearby, some people were talking over the head of a large grey animal.
He and the zombie strode to join them. "Hold your fire, it's mine" he warned. But some loose trigger finger fired a burning globe anyway. He snapped a word and pointed with his skull-surmounted wand, a green dart knocking away the firebolt.
"I said, hold your fire." Circon said angrily.
His eyes swept up and met those of a Shadow.
"Hail, shimito*" said the Shadow. "I am Shadowbane. Your name?"
"Circon" replied he. Neither blinked. They both stared at one another until the wolf growled at raised her hackles at seeing the zombie. It seemed to break whatever spell had been holding them.

Introductions were made all around. Shadowbane's black face with the glowing green eyes revealed nothing, but Circon guessed he was interested.
Gwyneth the Druid was fairly sickened by Circon's practice of black magic.
Willow and Shrin, the two Wicca witches, were taken slightly aback, but recovered themselves quickly.
The last one Circon said hello to was the wolf, Adriana by name. "Is she a werewolf?" he asked.
No, said a voice in his head. I am not a wolf-that-takes-form-of-two-legs. Circon looked at the wolf. "Whatever you are, you might want some further protection."
That would be useful thought the wolf.
"Hey, druid." *mumbles*dratiforgotyournamealready*un-mumble*"Sorry. Gwyneth. Help me a little with this, will you? Put your hand on the wolf, and think of all sorts of terrain. She did, looking quizzically at Circon. Circon concentrated, sweat pipling on his face. "There!" he exclaimed. Everyone looked at the wolf.
Adriana had turned into a lupine** chameleon. The others seemd used to her and could pick her out easily, and of course Circon could see his own spells very well. But now Adriana could blend in with the background anywhere.

Circon realized his cape was slipping and straightened it. It slipped again. He realized the dragon bone was pulling at it. He pulled it out of his pocket.
It was tugging towards Gwyneth.
"Gwyneth- do you have any magical artifacts on you? Something is pulling at this."

Gwyneth blinked. "No I dont think so." she said. "Unless you count my fathers old Teleport ring, but its empty..."
"May I see it" asked Circon.
"Sure,"said Gwyneth. "Why not, it's empty anyway"
"Teleport?" he said, touching it. "Do you know how wrong it is to call this a teleport ring? It alters the world itself! It is attempting to recharge itself. What it does is that within a large radius, the last hour passes differently. Anything nearby has spent its time in a new way, and gone somewhere else."
"Then.." said Gwyneth, "My father could still be alive?
"If he wasn't dead already, but nearby, and hadnt spent the last hour in the same place, then he could very well be..."

*shimito=brother-in-spirit
**lupine=adjective form of wolf

To avoid another reply, I am making an OOC edit:
Metophoric??? But seriously, Sheep2, your character is slightly overpowered. Where are your weaknesses? Not only do you seem to have none, but you've taken over a town too. Are you going to be the evil one we all fight after defeating Dagoth Ur?

Manfred continued his metophoric rise through the aristocracy of the land. He has given the blood kiss to the manors of the county, making the aristocracy of the entire province vamprirc. It was indeed the beggining of the takeover of the nation, with Manfred aiming to claim the Imperial throne.

OOC Willow is not dead! I'll write stories on paper and at school try to post them from now...

Kalane climbed down from the tree he was perched upon, and soundlessly ran towards the cloud of smoke his speed and stealth keeping him from pursuit by the Undead Lich.

'Useful as a Dark elf!' Kalane snorts, thinking to himself how rediculous the idea was, 'My High Elven speed and stealth are all I need - a Dark elf indeed!'

He stops as silently and suddenly as he began his run, coming to the edge of the destroyed village he spots a group of people standing and talking.
He watches them from the cover of the trees - and realises much to his horror one of them appears to be a recently turned Zombie creature - and begins to scan with his minds eye.

In his minds eye he can "see" or "sense" much more than his eyes can reveal, his abilities in this area are not as acute as that of his Master Tomas, but they are good enough for him to sense the aura of each of the people.

He sees like most humans the Witches stood upon the precipice of darkness, but radiating a very weak light.
The Wolf, and the nature druid he was pleased to observe emanated light and were not creatures of darkness, nor would they serve creatures of darkness.
The last two gave outward appearances which contradicted their inner self. The shadow creature was envealoped in a darkness which appeared to be self inflicted as if he hid himself.
And the last - he realised was a Necromancer - who emanated a kind of Unlight; and watching him Kalane felt a wave of cold wash over him.

The Necromancer begins to use dark magic, causing Kalane to wince in discomfort and a measure of disgust; for Elves were creatures of Light and lovers of life, Darkness and death were uncomfortable subjects for them and a source of great grief for them.

Kalane was loath to approach these people, for as a High Elf he disliked Humans - and indeed hated them because of the legacy which the forced upon his family which he spent every day of his childhood fighting.
Also the darkness which wrapped around some of the group caused him to question - dare he trust them?

Only the presence of the Druid of the Wood gave him pause - the Wood Druids were an obscure branch of Humanity who were more or less simply Mortal versions of Wood Elves.
Wood Druids were one of the first Humans to enter the world and to be found by Elves - High Elves and Night Elves shied away from them, but the Elves of the Wood decided to embrace and teach them - and then they went out into the world to grow and be fruitful and prosperous, but all evidence of the Druids were lost on his home continent for they were believed to have been destroyed by the Humans who lived beyond the borders of Elven Home - the three "homelands" of the Elves.
And yet here stood one before his eyes - and Kalane could hardly believe it.

Another thing entered into his considerations - Tomas.

'I can not rescue Tomas alone' He thought to himself, 'Whether I trust them or no, I may have to enlist their aid'

Making a decision he stepped out of the trees and into the sunlight - and light every other High Elf - the light seemed to rush to him and wrap around him as he walked proudly - and almost arrogantly like most other High Elves - towards the group.

OOC: i think everyone but the elf and the vampire are together now. what now? i think we need a goal (other then the big one) for now.
@Eric, sorry, but you're not reviving Gwyneths father, he was just there to introduce her. and his absense is one of her major weakneses (maybe resurect him as an evil minion or something, but i'll leave that for later)[/ooc]

"Then.." said Gwyneth, "My father could still be alive?"
"If he wasn't dead already, but nearby, and hadnt spent the last hour in the same place, then he could very well be..."
"Oh.... our group had been fighting the zombies since the previous night. and we had been under his magic shield for over half an hour before i used the ring.
Wait, does that mean that as far as he was concerned, an hour before i realy left, he saw me disapear from behing him?
I dont even wanna think what he would have done to those zombies if he thought they'd gotten me.
Oh, NO!!! What if he didnt use the incinerate cuase he thought i was close by? He could never have fought all of them off without that sacrifice and he could be a zombie now himself.....
Why didnt Mother know about the side effects of this ring? I'm gonna have to ask her if i ever see her."

Gwyneth takes the ring back from Circon.

<OOC> I dont have much to say, but for a goal, what about rescuing Tomas. Then, except for Sheep, we`ll all be together.

@Roddy: I think Erik meant to leave possibilities, not ressurect your father<OOC/>

I sensed something.. something good in the woods. It was coming towards us. It hesitated outside the clearing, and then stepped in. I felt that it was good and loped towards it. It backed away a bit. I began licking its hand while I thought: Oh, its an elf.
What a cute elf. The elf patted me affectionately. I thought to it: I am Adriana. What is your name and what is your doing here? Do you need help?

<OOC>Normally its the human/elf thinking cute doggie. here its the "doggie" thinking cute elf. <OOC/>
:D ;)

*Shadow looked up and saw a High Elf walk in. Shadow had a small despise for them because they were some what 'stuck up'.*

"Well, what is ya name high elf? It seems as though ya are lookin for somethin, or someone. Let me guess, ya lost a comrade?"

*Shadow new the high elf would try to use his little powers on him, but they would be to no effect. Shadowbloods had more tricks and techniques than anyone could imagine.*

OOC: Well, now that almost everyone is here, we can go searching for Tomas.

Kalane smiles down at the wolf and replies verbally to it, in the High Elven tongue - a language which sounded almost as if it was singing, beautiful and melodious - knowing she would understand the tongue of Elves; even though High Elves are somewhat sundered from nature they still maintain the same Elven respect and affinity for Gaia though to a lesser degree than the Elves of Quelthalas; and because of this ability the Wolf would understand.

"Hello my name is Kalane" Feeling genuinely pleased to speak to this wolf, unaware of the mutuation which had caused the Wolf to evolve to become truely telepathic rather than just able to speak to Elves because of the Elven affinity for nature, "I am a High Elf from the lands of Elvandar - upon a continent unknown to the people of the Unbreakable Empire, for only the Great Eldar Wing Ships can traverse the ocean which seperates Kogo'Tun and EldarHome"

Kalane smiled once again at the Wolf, and then looked up from where he was bent down to speak to the Wolf, at the for want of a better description - at the shadow creature.

"I am the Eldar Spellweaver Kalane Starwind, son of the great Eldar warrior Tanis Starwind and the Golden General Laurana Silvermoon" Kalane says to the creature, a touch of disdain in his voice, "And yes I do require...assistance"

Kalane pats the Wolf on the head again, smiling one last time at it as he stands up to regard Shadowbane from his full height being much taller than most humans would make an imposing figure if he were not a High Elf, or if he did not look little more than a boy to human eyes.

"I came to these lands with my...the Master Spellweaver Tomas, consort of our Queen Agalaranna" Kalane replies to Shadow, "My...the Master has been involved in a battle with Ghouls and a Lich, I know not what happened to him for he sent me away for aid; so I come to you seeking the aid he wishes."

*Shadow listens to Kalane intently.*

"Well, if we gonna save ya friend, there's no use standin around here. Let's go find him."

*Shadow heads in the direction from which Kalane entered, waving his hand in a motion so that everyone follows.*

<<OOC>>:
@Civanator: DO you have any coherent plan for the story? Like the other NESes have ages?
@Roddy: I'm not planning to ressurect everybody who dies, and there is a lot of uncertainty around your Ring...
@lmsw: I saw you got my PM. Plz don't post it, reply for some editing.
<<//OOC>>

IC mode:
Gwyneth took the ring back. I spoke to her: "Do not think too deeply of this. What I have told you is gleaned from three years' study of magickal artefacts, and many mysteries remain. I counsel you: do not ignore my words, but take them not as absolutes."
I sensed sorrow in her as she turned away.
I watched as a High Elf strode into the clearing of the burnt village, light wrapping around him. holier-than-thou prigs, I thought. He looked at me disdainfully, but I matched his gaze, and he looked away first.
The wolf loped over, and he spoke to it in Sylvan.
Introductions were made. The elf introduced himself as Kalane, and said his master Tomas was in danger somewhere nearby. By general approval we agreed to aid him.
In the bleak blackness inhabiting my mind, something stirred as he walked by. I knew he felt disdain for me- had he tried to convey this mentally? I shrugged and came back to the present.
Appearently several Zombies... and a Lich.
I pulled out the orb of dragon bone from earlier and started working magics on it. A Lich. Liches tended to use a form of magic that placed them in one-on-one combat - most likely it would be against me. It would hate me more than any Elf, and its fury would be greater than a dragon's. A Lich. Immune to most forms of magic, a spellcaster itself, and deadly was its touch.
We marched, Zombie-Lampar carrying some of my burdens.

Edit: Side Note: Will there be any more of "writing one another's stories"? Was that banned, or did it just go out of fashion?

We followed the elves trail back, until we found the place where the elf had left the other elf. We saw that the Lich, Ghouls, zombies and the elf had left, but not to where. The two-legs were all at a loss, but I began sniffing around a bit. The two-legs wondered what I was doing, but I ignored them and kept on sniffing and... There! I found a weak elf smell, and a smell that totally obscured the other smells. It smelt abominably rotten, and over it I could not smell the elf. What does Lich smell like? I thought out loud. Understanding dawned on all the two-legs faces. Well? I thought to them. Circon anwered: A Lich smells abominable, because it has been rotting for as long it "lives". The older the Lich, the fouler the smell. Then this Lich is old beyond bounds. He must be getting frailer by the years, lets go and kill him and rescue the elf-that-is-Kalanes-master. I sprang away, sniffing my way to the Lich. I was to quick to hear Circon shouting: Adriana! STOP! The Lichs do not get frailer for each year that passes, they only get "frail" when they die! Oh Drat that wolf!!! come on, or we´ll lose her, and never find the Lich, let alone Tomas.

<OOC> You guys havent heard about real tracking dogs yet, only the scent</OOC>

As the group begun running towards Adriania the Willow begun to feel wierd...
Willow: "Shrin I have a bad feeling about this... I think one of us all might not come back..."
Shrin: "Don't worry our magic will take care for us... Don't forget that water specialist it's also healing, and fast..."
Willow: "Yes but I have a feeling that... Oh never mind. Adriana!" Willow yelled, "Stop your running now or we will need to stop you just to keep in track!"
But Adriania kept on running faster. And as Adriana kept on running without stopping Willow started to talk in a low voice: "Guys I'm going to stop her... We have to keep on track with her but she's way too fast for us..." And as Willow suddenly stoped the rest stopped with her as she turned her head towards Adriana... Her eyes were black again. "Adriania! Stop!" as willow said this Adriania got caughed in a sudden black on purple light.
As she stopped the rest finay reached her and Circon again talled Adriania to Wait for them. As Willow came to her eyes were already their usual greenish color. The purple light was gone and Willow talked to Adriana, straight into her mind: "Please don't make me use my magic. I can't always control them and we have to keep togheter if we wish to win. Now listen to what Circon has to say please. Oh and don't tell them I can talk to your mind please... I have some of my own secrets..."

OOC So what Circon was saying Gladinia?
Also I changed my color to Dark Blue because somone else also took gray...

As Adriana returned and the group reassembled, I was thinking. The Lich would be easy to defeat if I could use enough power- a common thing, but often forgotten, as power in the amounts needed for simple solutions is hard to come by.
But this time, I had it. The bone orb from the dragon. If I released the life-essence stored in it into the Lich, its undeath would be annihilated and the Lich crumble as if all its age was catching up to it- and from what the wolf said, this one was rather old.
I raised my wand once, drawing power from my surroundings. The skull glowed black, pulling in equal measures of life and death magic. Suddenly the mouth opened, spitting a snake-like black form at my feet. I jumped back, too startled for the moment to say the simple word that would have destroyed it.
Shadowbane helped. He pointed at it and muttered, vaporizing the snake. Caught by my own cleverness, I thought. The Lich was obviously somewhere near enough to affect my spells, especially as I had been drawing the same power as it.
I instead started to whistle. Everybody shivered except Shadowbane. I whistled a melody that disquieted everybody. Adriana's hackles raised, and Kalane looked disgustedly at me. Then I pointed my left forefinger in the air. A white stream flew out, heading towards the probable location of the Lich. THis time stream would seek it out and attempt to age it further wihtout the Lich being able to counter it... Behind my hood, I smiled.

<OOC>here's an idea: Tomas is badly hurt, we get Jason's char to heal him, but that only avoids death, he has to be sent back to Elvandar, leaving Kalane alone in this land.</OOC>

<OOC> I have been a way so Ill post my story after I have caught up in the story</OOC>

--Kalane--

I stood in the clearing where I had left Master Tomas - with the group, Adriana sniffing around trying to follow the scent of the Lich.
She attempts to run off in pursuit when the Witch Willow stopped her, sensing that there is more to the situation than appeared.
I was about to confirm this suspicion when a cold shadow settled over me and then a pain wracked through my body which i was barely able to conceal.

--Third Person--

Kalane winced in pain from the dark magic being used by Circon, throwing him a glare he is about to scold the Necromancer for using Dark Magic this close to a Master of the Dark Arts - a Lich which was able to over come the Spellweaver Master Tomas, when a few Ghouls burst into the clearing.

(OOC: Think Warcraft 3 for the vision of the Ghouls and the Lich ok?)

Two of them running towards Circon and the other two making for the Witches.

"Magic Missle Barrage!" Kalane quickly weaves a low powered fire spell at the closest Ghouls - which just happened to be the ones leaping at Circon.
The Ghouls fall to the ground in a explosion of flame as the missles stop their charge.

Kalane turns beginning a second weave, when before he can blink Shadowbane quickly cuts down the two remaining Ghouls before Kalane can say boo.

(OOC: Sorry for the slight Auto there but needed someone to take down the other two, Shadowbane seemed appropriate)

Kalane turns to Circon with a arrogant sneer.

"Foolish Dark creature!" He scolds, "We are dealing with a Lich which was able to defeat and capture a Master Spellweaver of ALL the 4 Lesser Paths of Magic - Storms, Change, Strength, and Flame - and a wealth of knowledge in the Greater Paths also!"

Kalane turns his back to Circon, unable to hide his disgust at the Necromancer he stalks off in the direction of the streamer.

(OOC: It is up to Civanator what happens to Tomas - i discussed with him who and what Tomas is)

The Govenor of the Province lay dead. However the Emperor was pleased. Manfred von Carstein had managed to capture the assasin. For his services Manfred was given the Govenorship.

Manfred's rise continued.
