Let's do this.
50, Pre-flight
Workers are currently advancing our interests in the capital by giving us surplus food with which to use hill mines. That can't happen soon enough.
Switch 1 FP to marble, that tile is just too good.
Plan
If that worker if overflowing into our territory, it means they already have 1, ergo they have a worker waiting for us to grab him. I'll be heading there with the archer. Killing barbs and clearing the camp will net us a military CS ally, which we really could use right now.
Make archers, improve tiles, grow. When culture hits, I'll dispatch our newborn worker to the gems and spices of the East coast.
T 51:
Capture Bobby the Worker. He'll farm the river from his side.
IBT: Belgrade under attack. I know, sweetheart, help is coming.
Also:
T 52:
Find the incan capital.
IBT: Terracotta army. Really, Casimir? Like your army wasn't large enough already.
T 53:
Realize we're short on

to grow both cities so I work spices from Oporto.
T 54:
zzz
T 55:
Lisbon archer -> archer.
Culture: free worker -> headed for spices.
Wait ... just noticed we'll finish archers after construction (hence lose fast builds) and we'll chop the spices before calendar if we do construction first, so I'll apply changes to the tech order.
Tech plan: get construction all the way down to 1-turn-from-completion, then switch to calendar. Then trapping for Truffles. Worker can go for gems, it'll cost us 50$ to unlock, no big deal.
T 56:
Arrive at Barb camp Alpha.
T 57:
Porto Archer -> Archer. With 2 chops, we'll make it in time.
Kiev wants protection and culture. Protection is a trap: another CS wants them bullied and bullied they will be. We have the lead as long as none of the AIs gave them the time of day. (That will change next IBT but let's take this small victory eh).
2 CS want a barb camp attacked up north by Attila. I send 2 units up there in hopes we can snag it. And poop my pants in fear I'm overextending our army.
Pull a starcraft-style attack-move to explore around the barb camp.
IBT: Why yes, Attila, why don't you build yourself a Statue of Zeus. We need better armed neighbors.
Also
T 58:
Change tiles in Lisbon for growth.
Belgrade builds a new worker. HA! I can see this going horribly right.
Capital is looking good.
IBT: The Great Wall. For real.
T 59:
Lisbon grows, reassign tiles.
IT'S IN THE HOLE! The barb camp by Attila is empty. Shot dead by dumbfounded horse archers that never bothered to grab it and the CS points. Golly.
And here's a juicy border. We need to be dogging those 2 to fight it out. Huge army vs Huge wall. What could go wrong.
(picture from turn 60)
Vatican City met to the West.
T 60:
Capture barb camp Bravo which Attila was kind enough to shoot dead for us.
Lots to say about worker moves and tech order but I'm running short on time right now so I'll be back later with more - and screenshots.
Notes:
Most pressing: we have neighbors who built military wonders. Lots of them.
And with 2 of them headed for piety, our chances of getting a religion might be fair, but our chances of really fostering one are slim. Until we conquer everything
Next player!
3 things I set in motion that require upkeep in the next few turns:
- Tech order
- Truffles worker
- Gems worker
Tech status: CBs pending in 1 turn, I've pushed the tech back to make archers faster for now. We need trapping and calendar, so here's my proposed tech order:
And we could even push construction back until after/during calendar to make 1-2 more archers.
We have 4 archers, 1 out on a mission to seduce a military CS ally and grab a worker, 1 more training up. I feel like we could use a 6th at least.
Worker turns:
This means the worker from Lisbon, currently farming plains as a filler job, can move NE on turn 61 to reach truffles in time for trapping.
Also, this means calendar will not be ready in time for spices, but Porto needs those chops to get back to regular growth duties. Gems will be readily available to improve when that time comes.
Happiness is coming back under control, thanks to CS missions. So are worker turns.
Sorry this took a while, I've had a lot on my mind lately.
