RSG 02 (Deity) - The Randomness Continues

And the roster:

Beorn
Queen Mariagurra X <= just played
Queen Bugs <= UP
Menelann <= on deck

I'll hold off playing until everyone can voice their opinion on the present situation.

Is Queen Bugs by any chance related to Sir Bugsy, the fortune-teller nobleman? ;)

Monte Mariagurra was settled right on time. If we had waited even a turn or two with the Settler, that area would be Polish land by now. Two workers are available around Lisbon, so we have the workforce to build a road down south.

We probably need to build some more units but I didn't want to strain our economy too much before we have that Caravan.

Also, here's the tech tree for our research decisions. I forgot to include it in my turnlog.

What I noticed is that we haven't researched Writing yet. We might want some Libraries so that we don't get too behind in tech.

:goodjob:

My 2¢:
 • Writing -> Sailing -> Bronze with Cons whenever necessary ; currency before philo,
 • Keep farming Camp Alpha near Belgrade,
 • Rename Porto to "Pink Dot",
 • 2 land caravans then library in Lisbon, start libraries as soon as writing hits everywhere else,
 • Hold off on roads for a while longer,
 • Walls in Mte. Maria after library,
 • Do our darndest to buy 1 conflict anywhere. Anywhere.

For future pun reference: the regents of Portugal

This list is more like $2000.02. You make some good points.

I think we hold off on a road until it can pay for itself. I think that is when the second city reaches pop 3, but I'll have to break out the paper and pencil for that.

When to finish off Construction? I'm thinking when we have six archers, then we can upgrade them.

Really like the idea of walls in Mte. Mariagurra.

I will see if I can stir up the global political situation.

Oh excuse me, when the next queen steps up to the throne. :queen:

That's nice that we got a Mnt city before Kashmir... And yes, they we coveting our lands for few centuries by the moment xD I'm not too worried about them though, all these jungles look very defencible.

About the caravans, where do we send them? Polish cities would be great with all their science, but do we trust them? I would probably go with one route to Poland and one to the closest CS.

And totally agree with Beorn's call for bribing someone to start some war. If we end up attacked both by Attila and Kashmir, it would be quite annoying :p So we have to keep one of them busy with Inca's Wall.

All other plans look solid-)

OK, the next queen shall ascend to the throne this evening. :queen:

Preflight - Turn 70 – 1200 BC
After 400 years on the throne, Queen Mariagurra X decided it was in the best interests of her kingdom to abdicate the throne in favor of her niece Princess Maria Bugsette I. Legend has it that she wasn’t the prettiest maid in the land nor did she have the sweetest of temperaments. A portrait survives from her first year on the throne.

Queen Mariagurra herself placed the crown on the young princess. :queen:

In her first act as queen, Maria Bugsette threw her special kingdom monitoring device out the window because it kept locking up. She decided she needed some beauty sleep.

I have tried every trick I know and I cannot get the save to open. I get a "Civilization V has stopped working" window. Ideas?

On the top of my head the only thing I can think of is that there are to ways to load a modded save.

First one is to load through the normal Load Game under Single Player in which case the game will load the mods and the save game at the same time. This sometimes causes the game to crash to desktop for me.

Second one is to go through the Mods menu, enable mods, and then Load Game from there.

Which one(s) have you tried? If you only went through one of the menus, try loading from the other one. I'll keep thinking of other possible errors in case that doesn't do the trick.

I have now tried both of those methods several times with no luck.

I reloaded my present saved game and that works.

Thinking that I had something corrupted, I reloaded the last RSG save that I had and that loaded fine. I then loaded the turn 70 save and a crash.

I increased my virtual memory thinking that the size of the file was causing problems, but that didn't help.

Might be the file itself - can you upload the original file without zipping, gurra?

OK, I have that one. I'll load things up and see what happens.

Went through the same routine as before, failed to load on four attempts using the various methods. I might have to shift to lurker mode. Can everyone else load it?

Works for me...
Maybe try to put save file in ModdedSaves folder, I did so. And load through mod, but don't think it is important... Also I used the dropbox file.
