In this interview/gameplay you can see the Ruhr Valley wonder (@16m27s)
Although it's not clear what it does.
Although it's not clear what it does.
Same as Oxford University!...which is a bit weird if someone else that Germany builds it. And 'Zeche' alone is a bit unsatisfying as a wonder.
I agree, Ruhr Valley is a strange name, since that's the name of the valley rather than the building or structure itself. The icon looks a lot like the Zeche Zollverein. I'm a bit sad they called it "Ruhr Valley" instead of calling out its name specifically , especially since it is a world heritage site... but I'm very happy to see the area represented in the game.
It's analogous to the Silicon Valley and no one has a problem with that.
Also noticed that there's actually the build animation in the video, too. Looks very nifty, looks like a full-fledged wonder.
Also, the text "a world wonder has been created" in the top of the screen is sort of a give-away that this is not a natural wonder ...![]()
Eh, I was just referring to my previous post where I thought it was a national wonder since it could be a more industrial version of Civ5's Ironworks with a more flavourful name (much like Oxford University or the Hermitage). There's been no mention of 'national wonders' in the game, and it'd be odd if a major production booster was a 'national wonder' that anyone could build.
But agreed, there's been no indication of national wonders so far and they wouldn't make as much sense as in the past where they differentiated/specialised cities. Unstacking cities and district-terrain interactions do the same job with less abstraction, alleviating the need for specialisation wonders.
Err, that's completely not analogous at all.
The Ruhr Valley is named after a specific river named Ruhr. It's a geographical landmark.
The Silicon Valley is not named after any specific geographical place - it is named after the fact that businesses there are related to computers, the building material of which is silicon.
