Russia Redefines Itself and Its Relations with the West

There are countries that are worthy of intelligent discussion/comment, and then there are countries that are not.

Ridiculous statement. Everything, and certainly every country, is worthy of intelligent discussion, provided you possess the intelligence for it.

I am not sure about Putin; I don't think many people are. But I really think that at this point in time, Russia and America are natural allies. Imagine how much America could do in the Middle East if Russia collaborated and provided territorial access.

That article seems to describe the the way I've viewed the future of U.S.-Russian relations. I don't think we should pressure them about democracy or any of that crap, we should just make them a good solid ally. Their military resources and influence or many parts of the world mean that they are very important strategically.

If we could form a better friendship with them possibly making oil deals with them in exchange for them stopping selling weapons to our enemies, I think we would both be better off. Well, America would be at least.

Three days ago, Deputy Chief of the US Mission in Czech Rep. had a speech at our Uni. Very interesting, among other things, he spoke about the US missile defence and Russia. He said, that Russian statements are purely psychological matter.

Russia has been invited to discuss about this project, its officials visited the NMD site in Alaska, Russian experts were informed about the system and its capabilities.

Suddenly, Russia makes a big deal out of it. Why? It wants to be the one who has a say in such matters.
