S-03 Hackers

I'm not that enthusiastic about going for conquest either. When the game's won I normally like to play it out quickly to it's natural conlusion. We did it in S-02, so I think the novelty factor's over. However, I agree with Asperger that it would have been cheesey to win without taking on the strongest AI, but we've done that and proved we have the best trained army on this landmass so I would be in favour of going for the domination win.
 
It's just that S-02 is still on the first page :) and surely will when we will be about triggering domination
Anyway, the shortest way to finish it is to go after Alex when Liz is reduced down to a couple cities

Look at Isabelles power graphic, it's 2x as high as ours. I just don't like winning an aggressive game with domination while there is an opponent which power is bigger than ours (but the AI is too stupid to attack us).

I agree with domination if every other civ is weaker than we are but that's not the case here imo.
 
ahh - Its me. This is a 'got it'. Is this game showing that deity is 'easy' if you remove the tech component?
 
Well it's easy if you don't have to build libraries and cottages too! I quite like this variant, especially the huge armies the AIs have. I think it may have some legs. I wish there was a setting where the AIs had the production bonusses like they do here, and are as aggressive, but don't storm away in tech.
 
My aim this round was to take four english cities and relegate Lizzie to two cities on an island to the West and 1 tiny city on the mainland but squeezed behind one of Alex's cities in the South. Here are the four cities that I have targetted ...

My secondary aim was to get us ready to attack Bella. We have a very very long front with Bella and so any attack would leave lots of holes for counter attacks. I have sent all units built during my round to border cities. Bella has also reinforced those two little towns on the East - sending forces through our lands. There wasn't much I could do about that because we needed open borders to fight Lizzie.

From memory, I build a few buildings (whipping barracks in newly captured cities that would have starved anyway). All other units ordered up were Artillery. I am still waiting for someone else to discover Assembly Line. I also dialed down our tech to build up some cash to upgrade all of our units to infantry when possible.

We have tonnes of units designed to take Warwick and Nottingham (North West) but only a handful of units in the area to take Coventry and Phrygina (ex-barb city?). The battle for Warwich, Nottingham and Coventry were just a matter of moving units around, bombing down the walls, suiciding a few artillary (or not - these units rock) and killing off the remaining units. Lizzie was stuck behind her walls just waiting for the axe to fall. She had plenty of chances of attacking and killing off some units but only attacked 6 times - she won 4, lost 2 ... and get this result ... one of her losses!!!!

While defending, Rifleman defeats (3.50/14): English Infantry (Prob Victory: 4.1%) ... that probability of victory is for OUR unit!

This lack of aggression from the AIs make these games a lot easier than they should be. Here is the result of her inactivity ...

The only city that I was having trouble with was Phrygina - I just didn't have enough units and I didn't send any down there - wanted to populate the cities for the Bella attack. I went close but ... Anyway, there are four unpromoted artillary on their way (NOW) and some heavily injured units heading back to coventry to heal ... here is the situation ...

Great variant so far. Enjoying this a lot but darn sams and artillery in 1300 by the AI? Is this normal on epic? I play only normal and am very glad to get cavalry by that time.
 
A well presented report as usual Ruff :goodjob:. Hmm, looks like we are about to start a war with a much more powerful AI, now who could be up to take the toughest few turns? ... Oh it's Cosmichail! :lol: This SG is going to make Cosmic an expert in defending against huge AI stacks :D. Or maybe we need a 10 turn breather to finish off Lizzy and position our forces. Don't know because I can't look at the save yet.

I guess I will sound like a scratched disk but greek lands are more than enough for the domination limit and far more easy to take with the choking point. Like Ruff said, we have a long borderline hard to defend with spain.
I would surely understand attacking spain for the challenge but we should wait until we complete the railroad network on those borders and the next line inside before attacking. We should make this workers priority. With the 10 movement points, we would easily defend against spain, at least on our side of the map

you are absolutely right:lol: in my solo games i've rarely reached the modern times, maybe that's why i want to lengthen this game. But from now on i agree with everything. I'm sure Blid now is going to give me enormous stacks and an exhausted Bella:)
