Thoughs

Troops weren’t moved in turn 10. Next player can continue the war effort ASAP
I think that we should push to the Incan capitol using a pincer move: One stack ( the one in Vilcabamba) should go to Tiwanaku and aproach Cuzco by the south and another ( that I started assembling in Huamanga ) should go to Corihuayrachina and the aproach Cuzco by SW ( maybe using that mountanious ridge W of Cuzco ). The important is not letting that prize running away from us
QSH is powering up, but is still without anything in hands. Keep a eye on it...
I’ve built some spies for siege service. With HC sabotage, we should have some good discounts....

sunrise089 - UP ( if he is already civ capable again )

Good luck!

OK, nice. Sunrise needs to post a got it to confirm he's still here because we haven't heard from him for a while.

My thoughts:

I think after the longbow, Utrect should whip a market since it has 2 unhappy citizens. Also whip Maastrict and Nijmegen on the IHT.

Also, we should hire some specialists in Amsterdam since it is working some suboptimal tiles.

I actually think we should change research to pick up aesthetics and literature, so we can build the two epics.

Got it - I think.

As of 3 days ago I have a Civ capable PC again.

As of today, I have the necessary DVI to VGA adapter I had left in Florida.

I still do NOT have a wireless adapter, but one is on the way. Anyways, I can play, it will just require me to jump through some hoops to download the save and burn a CD of it, then do the same in reverse.

Technical problem: I cannot open the save, the game crashes. I have tested and gotten crashes with RBTS3 and RBtS1b. On the other hand RBTS4 and single player games open fine. I have the newest patch and the newest version of DirectX installed. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Unless someone can tell me what I need to change tonight, assume I need another skip team. Sorry about that.

P.S I'm using 3.01 build. Shouldn't be a problem....

OK, well the probable problem is that I downloaded and installed the newest patch. Keep in mind I've been pretty out-of-the-loop for about a month, so I couldn't remember what version everyone is running.

Do I need to uninstall and reinstall the game and not patch it?

Well I start by doing the things I recommended to do to the next player: whip a few cities and change research to Aesthetics. I also trade for Wang's world map, and it reveals some strange behaviour: Wang is refusing to expand.

Anyway, back in the real world Julius asks us to convert to Judaism. I think about this for a while then decline. HC is using espionage to sabotage our things: first an ivory camp then a corn farm. But that can't stop us from capturing his cities. We take three more; the last one, Cuzco, being the real prize as it has the Mahabodi, worth +26 GPT  :D

Now, our economy is hurting somewhat. Even with that shrine we are at 50% science. But I strongly think we should push on and take some more Incan cities. At least Macchu Piccu and Ollantaytambo. On our last turn I captured 3 incan workers, that's why we have some knights in strange places.

Techwise we finished Aesthetics, Music (since I thought the GA was available for some reason but it wasn't), Philosophy and most of education. Traded for optics too - we are building a caravel to meet the last civ out there. I built the Heroic Epic in Amsterdam. We got a great general with whom I built a military academy in another city. Have not started the national epic yet - any suggestions? Should probably be an inland city. Also I started the Forbidden Palace in an ex-Incan city, due in 15 turns.

I also founded 2 new cities with settlers. On on an island to the east, and another on the coast close to the capital. It has no food but should be low maintenence and being on the coast with the great lighthouse it should at least pay for itself.

The Save - See if it loads for you Sunrise.

I agree with pushing HC to the ropes...Macchu Piccu and Ollantaytambo have good land and would add finely to our empire. And what we'll do with him after that? Keep him as a pet ( read vassal ) or let him live ( just to vassal to someone else, like QSH ) ? I really don't like any of the options...

P.S One advice to next player: remenber to pillage the cottages near the mentioned cities before they get out of revolt ;)

Oh, another thing I forgot to mention: 3CC Wang built the Apostolic Palace, uniting all (!) the confucian nations. That'll be just him then. Unless mystery final civ we haven't met is also confucian.

So some longer term planning will be helpful here I think.

We need to figure out how we will get commerce, because the colossus will not be around for much longer and other civs' commerce will be growing with their maturing cottages.

I don't think researching any military techs now will help against HC, and I don't see us warring for a while after we stop the Incan war. So next techs should be economic IMO.

One source of income is golden ages, as we also have the mauseleum. Firstly we can pick up the free merchant from economics to start a golden age. So the banking -> economics route looks good to me, especially as a bank will help with our super-shrine. I think we can pick up both and not be in danger of losing liberalism. We can also research nationalism and build the Taj Mahal, since we have marble. Shortly after nationalism is constitution, to enable representation.

Also, even though it obsoletes the colossus we cannot afford to ignore astronomy for that long. Shortly after astronomy is the free scientist from physics, and the killer techs of biology (for more specialists) and electricity (for boosted windmills). That may be a little far along the line, but is something we should be aware of.
