Sailor's Dirge

I'd like to see it have Death 1 and Channeling 1 so that it could actually summon its skeletons instead of just having them appear on the shore. That way, if you capture the Dirge, you would get the same power.

I am actually against the idea of the Dirge becoming a normal summoner, as that makes it kind of boring. I like that it has a unique mechanic.

While that would be interesting, the Barbarian AI couldn't use it. Consider the amount of skeletons that are normally existing in the game world via barrows. You'd never be able to summon more than that! You'd still need a special effect that would cause the skellingtons to appear.

The way Permanent Summons work now, the Dirge would not be able to summon skeletons because of the ones spawned bay barrows. It has been at least implied however that the in 0.34 Kael may be copying the way Xienwolf chnaged it to work in Fall Further, so there is a one to one correspondence between the summoner ans summon. That would let the Dirge summon a single skeleton, which still isn't that much. You could give it twincast too if you like.

If I were to change it to a normal summoner, I'd let it learn Death II too, and make its summons start with amphibious, boarding, and/or even water walking.

It might be better just to give it a separate, unit-specific spell.

OK, but there really should be some benefit to the player who captures it. It's a nice boat and all, but loses its flavor when controlled by the player.

Shouldn't it drop a treasure map instead? :)

Since the change log is up everyone can see that Zobo was right (and mind melded with Nikis-Knight who suggested the same thing in the team forum).
