Same-sex stork couples raise chicks

In the latest example of homosexual activity among animals in captivity, same-sex stork couples at a zoo in Overloon, Holland, have delighted zoo workers by adopting and raising a number of chicks.

A pair of lesbian storks were given two eggs to sit on, while a gay male couple was given one egg to nurture.

Staff were unsure if the gay storks would have a natural urge to raise offspring, but were surprised to find the birds embraced parenthood.

Wild animals usually express homosexual behavior in mating rituals, but the storks in Overloon are tenderly caring for and feeding their adopted chicks.

Parc Overloon spokeswoman Esther Jansen said all three chicks had hatched successfully: "The gay storks look after the eggs and the chicks just as well as our heterosexual birds."

link-a-doodle

Not sure if this has any real application/meaning to human relations, but it's pretty interesting behaviour none-the-less.

:crazyeye: I think I need a break from OT again...

"The gay storks look after the eggs and the chicks just as well as our heterosexual birds."

I'm waiting for this quote to appear in the human debate.

 we are animals and it was obviously the other way round, that'd be the genetics of evolution. When god created animals he deliberately made some gay so that some petty little religions could persecute them when they evolved, it's all part of the master plan to stir up hatred. He has a habit of doing that? Or is it man being an ignoramus that does that, it's difficult to tell:D

 This is hilarious. When I started the 'mountie' thread, I was just trying to share something funny and lighthearted that hasn't really sparked any controversy anywhere, and of course it turns into a debate on the merits of gay marriage. I started this thread to see what people's reaction would be to the idea of a single-sex animals raising healthy offspring, and ends up discussing the possibility of divine sanction for lesbian porn...!

this is still a fake environment, so noone can claim this is nature working...

The event a homosexual couple, raising young is impossible within the natural world, for obvious reasons.

And they don't mind if you look either. If that isn't divine sanction for lesbian porn, I don't know what is.

Wroooong.

"Flamingos are a good example" says MacFarlane "Six percent of them actually form male-male pairs that engage in all the same things a male-female couple will engage in, including courtship and parenting. They may actually take over a nest and raise the young."

Amongst Roseate tern couples, one third are both females. They pair together and raise young, sitting on double the amount of eggs. Both birds lay eggs, and often at least some of these are fertilised, indicating that the females are happy to sit on both sides of the fence.

And that's just 2 examples I was able to quickly dig up.

oh fair enough

Next thing you know there will be greatly obese animals running all over.

There were some homosexual birds (I forget the species) at a zoo I visited when I was younger, the zookeepers had made an exibit out of them (slightly disturbing, in retrospect).

:nya: I dislike homosexuality. Period. Whether or not it is accepted by humans. And homosexuality is is different in other animals because they cannot THINK. Humans can think, but animals rely on instinct alone. :nya:

Hi. You're wrong. But I doubt you're at a stage in life where you can be shown that. But, in the future, when you read texts on consciousness and animal behaviour ... remember me!

But thinking doesn't replace love/emotions in humans.

Erm, no comment from the Catholic gallery :wow:.

I predict that MobBoss would see this thread and flip
