SANCTA private *individual* PBEM game

This is a 5 player private PBEM game currently in progress.

The players are:

1. Memphus, Huanya Capac
2. General_W, Julius Caesar
3. Ronnie1, Suryavarman II
4. Automated Teller, Qin Shi Huang
5. Viva_Chingon, Washington eliminated by Memphus

Here's the ruleset we're using:
Spoiler :
1 Out of Game Actions
1.1 -- Team Espionage
Using external forms of intelligence gathering against opposing teams is forbidden.
example: Entering Team Forums, joining multiple teams using different accounts, actively petitioning other players for information, looking around on the CFC (or a 3rd party website) image database for screenshots and save uploads, or anything else deemed as deliberate espionage is not tolerated will be harshly dealt with.

1.2 -- Save Manipulation
Editing the save file (with or without a utility) is not allowed. Any actions that would allow you to edit or view the save file of another team is not allowed.

2 In Game Actions
2.1 -- Suicide Training
Knowingly sacrificing a unit to an ally in order to yield experience points to the victorious unit is forbidden.

3 In Game Gifts
3.1 –- Military Unit Gifting
Gifting/receiving units for the purpose of fighting an enemy while in an ally's territory who isn't at war with them, and then gifting it back to avoid it being killed is prohibited.
Great People are excepted from this rule, and may be gifted at any time.

3.2 -– Naval Unit Gifting
A team may never gift units loaded in a naval vessel to another team, nor may they gift a loaded naval vessel.

3.3 –- Double Move Gifting
Units that have attacked in a turn are not allowed to be gifted to any other civilization.

3.4 –- City Gifting
Gifting a city to an ally when it is about to be taken in war, or to somehow gain an advantage is prohibited. Gifting cities are only allowed as gifts of goodwill and should not be abused to deny right of conquest or to keep a civilization alive indefinitely and out of the hands of an aggressor.

4 Game Procedure

4.1 -- Awareness
If you discover a rules violation it is your duty to inform all participants (via Game Forum) of the violation or the solicitation thereof by any player.

4.2 -- New Exploits
If you discover a new exploit it is your duty to inform all participants (via Game Forum). Amendments for banning newly discovered exploits will require a majority vote.

4.3 -- Voting
After the game has commenced votes are tallied by team, not by individuals within the teams. Three-fifths (3/5) Majority.

4.4 -- Punishments for Violations
Violations of these rules will be dealt with through the use of various in-game sanctions decided upon by Team Vote. Possible punishments include: Gold Payment, exclusion of a team member for a certain amount of turns, a formal warning, or anything else deemed appropriate by a majority vote. A Team Member has the right not to be tried twice for the same infraction (i.e. double jeopardy).

4.5 -- Defeated Teams
If a team is defeated, any player on that team is permitted to join another team. These "refugee" players are free to share any information from their old team with their new team. This includes any images or screenshots or treaty documents that they "salvaged upon fleeing from the burning rubble of their last city." They may NOT engage in team espionage by reporting information on their new team to any other team. Additionally, defeated players may opt out of the remainder of the game.

I'm in.

I think we can use this thread for our GPS, no? Or do you mean one in another forum? I'd rather stay here, so we can talk about the bigger game, if we want...

Small Pangea is fine with me. I'm ok with a randomly created map, as well.

yeah - I meant this same thread here for the GPS.

Good to have you aboard AT!

Small-Pangaea-Random ... sounds exciting :D

I'll play....no preference on map....I will be away for about a week at christmas....hope that is not a problem.

Sounds good Ron! Welcome aboard :salute:

I don't think anyone expects a 24 hour turn around during the week of Christmas.
And even if you're just plain gone for a whole week, that's ok with me.

And that gives this game 4 players

  1. General_W, Julius Caesar
  2. Automated Teller
  3. Memphus, Mana Musa
  4. Ronnie1, Suryavarman II

This will be a Small-Pangaea-Random map.
I'll set it up and mail out the first save as soon as everyone decides on what Leader they want to play.

As noted above, I'll go ahead and call Julius Caesar.

@Auto Teller - I can set you to random-leader if you want? :mischief:

Can I also play or was it decided somewhere else that you would only play a 4-way?

I will get back with my choice of leader depending on your answer!

:)

I'll play Suryavarman II.

Hey Viva- I'd be happy to expand this to 5 players if you can promise quick turn arounds.

I'd also want to hear an "ok" from the other 4 players.

As noted in the first post - the main concern is making sure this game doesn't drag down to a halt.

@Ron - got it! Thanks.

I'm good with 5. Just get me away from Julius!

I will commit to playing at a minimum of once per day; hopefully more frequently.

I will choose Roosevelt of America as my leader.

Awesome...

  1. General_W, Julius Caesar
  2. Automated Teller
  3. Memphus, Mana Musa
  4. Ronnie1, Suryavarman II
  5. Viva_Chingon, Roosevelt

Now we just need to know who AutoTeller wants, and I'll fire this puppy up!

Allright! Thanks A.T. :)

I should be home and have time to start this game in about 4-5 hours from the time of this post.

Any final comments on what the turn order should be? I was planning on sending it in order of signup (ie - I'll send to A.T.) - but since he's on the East coast USA, maybe that's a bad idea since I mostly play at night?

Turns out that Ron lives about 30 minutes away from me (small world! Also, I can drive over and toilet-paper his house if he kills me in our game ;) ) so maybe he should go second?

Viva_C is also on Pacific time I see... what time of day do you plan on playing?

This isn't a huge deal - but we might be able to maximize game speed with a little consideration of time zone.

I'm not worried about Memphus. I suspect he lives on a jetliner circling the globe waiting for Civ turns to come into his e-mail so that he can turn them around in record time. I think this "Canada" thing is just cover. I mean seriously man - if you're just going to make up a country, CANADA was the best you could do? ;)

Canadians are nice.

But my time zone is central.

doesn't matter where i go in the order but i guarantee you my turn aroudn tiem is the fastest.

BTW SANCTA currently has the fastest turn around time as I promised :)

:D you know it's all love.
Although I hear Canada is sending us a doozy of a cold-front here next week :gripe:
