Sarcasm

It's also a great stress reliever.
I think it is.It gives another way to vent your frustration toward others by being aggressively subtle.

On the other hand,it also give a test of tolerance when sarcasm is imposed on you by others.

It all comes down on saying the other one is a jerk: that's entertaining, isn't it
In the words of one of my former Science & Humanaties professor, "It's fun to be an #$%hole"

This thread is a load of crap

I would discuss something relevant to my much-valued opinion on sarcasm, but that would be a complete waste of time and energy

I love

Yeah, we're all just waiting with bated breath to hear what you have to say on the topic.

I am sure you have evidence to back that sarcasm up

No nobody likes sarcasm. It's just pointless intellectual masturbation that attempts to take self esteem out of debasing an individual over the internet. I don't use it.

Well, I like sarcasm, as long as it is creative, and it ridicules an argument that is so awful that does not deserve any better. How was that movie line again? "It's God that made you stupid, i'm only showing you a mirror".

Anyway, sarcasm as a lame attempt to flee from a superior argument (or even an equal one) is one of the lamest debate techniques ever... and it shows.

That said, I personally avoid being sarcastic... it's just not part of my internet persona.

Regards :).

Maybe you want people to only to like you for the fear that people will not take you seriously if being sarcastic all time.

To me,i find that being serious to establish an internet persona should be taken not seriously since the whole premise on trying to export your own fantasy(the persona) on to others is absurd.:crazyeye:

I try to only be sarcastic when the situation is dire.
“We have facts for those who think, arguments for those who reason; but he who cannot be reasoned out of his prejudices must be laughed out of them; he who cannot be argued out of his selfishness must be shamed out of it by the mirror of his hateful self held up relentlessly before his eyes.”

— Wendell Phillips, American abolitionist, 1853

I think we need another petition to remove that damned rolleyes-smiley!

What rolleyes? I like this thread the way it is. Peaceful and polite.

I am sure you have evidence to back that sarcasm up

Sure, but then someone will come in and swing that "data, not anecdotes" bat around, like that matters at all.
