Scenario preview: Vietnam War

I use the regular zip program.I don't know what it names.When we hav the first "BETA" ready, we could get a beta tester like Volum or someone.The optional units can be added if it's any need to.
 
alright...i'll try and post the files (biq and text files) on this thread. probably tonight (eastern standard time here in good 'ol new jersey, USA). there is probably 5 or 6 hours difference from norway. no? anyway...are you able to get the version of the scenario you have up and running? we don't need anyone else to playtest. you and i are plenty.
i know that the text files you sent me were missing some '#ANIMNAME_PRTO_' entries. no biggie. i simply added them. i'll post the text files you sent me that i added to. in the meantime, i'm going to fiddle with the techs.
let's not open a new thread until we've worked out all of the kinks. we're not far away. but we want to make this scen as good as we can b/c it'll be the first of its kind.

We should make it really hard to play with US.We should make it like to play in demigod level with units.Not any corruption andother things like that.Do you understand what I mean?One more time: When you play in Demigod level, it's really hard to have a war.The enemy units are so brutal and they never give up.So even if you play in Chieftain level, it should be just hard like in Demigod level to have a war.The enemy units must be so brutal and they never give up.The techs, corruption etc. are as usual in Chieftain, but not the warfare.Do you understand now??
 
i've been a busy bee :D with the techs...in an attempt to pack up some files to post, i drew up an intial tech tree based upon unit/improvement/sm wonder discovery timeline.

also, i made a few minor changes to reflect a more 'aggressive' and 'tough' n vietnam. first, i made a seperate Government for the s vietnamese: S. Vietnamese Democracy. in the editor, i altered the 'Propaganda' modifiers to be very, very susceptible (assimilation %s and propaganda) to the 'Communist' govt. finally, i added about 20 n vietnamese units in groups of 4 and 5 along the western border of s vietnam. mostly at VP locations along the HCM Trail.

units added: Mechanized Combat Engineer by recon1591 & LCM (Mech Landing Craft for the scen) by wyrmshadow, ANZAC Rifleman (AATTV Officer for the scen) and S Korean Infantry. the last 2 are 'auto-produced' and unbuildable in the city build que.

units edited: gave +1 mvmt (2) to NLF Inf and VC, gave NLF Inf 'Build Fort' and 'Barricade' flag. this is on top of VC being 'Invisible' and NLF Inf w/ 'Stealth Attack'. this should be a good avantage for the n vietnamese.

small wonders added or being added: AATTV Barracks (produces the Australian/New Zealand units), S Korean Barracks (produces S Korean Inf)

'uranium' is the 'Strategic Resource' to build both the sm wonder and the units. uranium appears in only 4 tiles on the whole map. 2 in US territory and 2 in S Vietnam.

we're going to have to make at least 2 auto-producing improvements for the commies to balance the US and s vietnam.

before i post anything, i need to clean up the text files some. but take a look at the initial tech tree idea
 
I can't see the picture.I can't say anything that the things you do are great.Keep working.I'm working on a Crimean War scenario too.It isn't so much left now.;)
 
Ooops!!After I posted, I can see the picture.Do you have any graphics editor because I haven't anything other than Paint and I haven't any skills in graphics making.

i think i typed the filename wrong. not at my home pc at the moment...maybe i'll upload the entire scenario folder onto the yahoo briefcase site later on.

if anyone is interested in trying out the beta, PM me and i'll furnish you with access to the private file storage site where you can DL the whole kitty.:D
 
btw, i added 3 buildings (using existing civ3c graphics) to the n vietnamese:
-VC Hamlet: produces a Vietcong every 12 turns and has a LOT of culture (10 i think)
-NLF Barracks: same as above but auto-produces NLF Infantry
-Miliatary Academy:produces NVA Division (transports 3 troops, NVA Inf only, Army graphics) and 'whales' is the strategic resource for it (the unit not the building). now, i changed 'whales' in the editor so that i could place them on grassland under the city (haiphong). not sure how the AI will use it, but we shall see.
NVA Infantry are the only n viet unit that has the 'Load' flag. so VCs and NLF Inf's can't be loaded into an NVA Division.
i also gave n vietnam an extra 12 starting units (NVA Inf.)
maybe luddi is right, playtesters for this scenario would be a good thing.
