Screenshot analysis!

Am I blind or this trade route screen doesn’t show the leaking of science (…) by establishing a trade route with a less-developed civilization, and it also appears that religious pressure through trade routes is not a thing anymore. Can someone confirm that?

I think they removed the science leaking in favor of having trade route yields reflecting the districts in the terminal cities.

And I didn't see any Trade Route religion transfer.

It is possible that there are little to no benefit of having trade routes going to you (because you have done nothing to create these trade routes) so to avoid freebies.

Maybe religion is not spread at all by trade routes or it could be a unique ability for Arabia or somebody else.

Cleopatra at least gets +2 gold on trade routes heading to Egypt as part of her leader ability. It's possible there's no other benefit for anyone else, but I'd see that as rather strange.

No Trade Route Religion transfer is terrible news for Gandhi.

No it's terrible news for Gandhi neighbors. He'll conquer their cities to get religion

So, Gandhi religious game suddenly becomes much more active. Honestly I like this - I'm not fun of passive mechanics like religion spread at all. But developers were unable to completely get rid of religion spread in favor of spread through units. At least they get rid of religion spread through trade routes, that's an improvement.

- The Castle picture you have at Medieval Walls is most likely a specific Palace graphics, surely for European civs in the Medieval Era. Notice the positioning of the Monument right in front of (and slightly to the left) of all Palaces.
The "castle" was seen in a very early screenshot in an American city, and it was seen for a while in place of a Palace in a variety of city-states, but it has not been seen recently.

- This probably means there are no real upgrades for Walls, they just automatically upgrade with the appropiate techs: Ancient Walls - Medieval Walls - Renaissance Walls.
If I remember correctly, the option to build Medieval Walls appeared in the build menu, so I don't think they upgrade automatically.

Actually its worse, trade routes are active. I'd much prefer if they got rid of "range 10" passive spread and kept trade route spread. (Except maybe for holy cities and theological combat)

Along the path?

So, say you send a Trade Route to one city, which builds a road there and allows you to send one to an even further city; you set up that Trade Route and get a slight yield boost for having routed it through a city you had previously targeted with a trade route?

I'm almost sure that:

-Extra yields for each Trading post along the way = Confirmed in Livestream.
-Extra distance = Not confirmed

(Ed comments on the system briefly)

?? what's intriguing??

We know about trading posts (created by a trade route to the city, give gold if a trade route ?sent from the same civ? passes through)
...I am hoping that Every trading post along the path will end up getting a bonus, not just of the sending civ.. so you can profit off of the Silk Road... I'm also hoping that Trading posts extend the Range of trade units that pass through them..so you can have a Silk Road)

The gold from districts seems a little high, and we don't know about the 'other' effects... but I'm sure there are plenty of civics, and policies, and effects of CS that boost Trade route gold

I think they more-or-less explained this in the video: your trade route gets extra gold for passing through a city that you already have a trade route with.

I'm on my phone so I cant screenshot but has anyone posted this video yet? Around 4:00 minutes in it shows that you can check the tech progress of other civs in the technology screen. It's a bar at the bottom. I assume this is part of gossip system?

Looking at that video, the toolbar looks similar to BNW where you could check what era a civ was by looking at diplo screens. Here it's just on the tree itself, which makes some sense.

It has been pointed out earlier in this thread. I do expect that it is tied to the gossip system for at least for knowing which Civ it is. When the player mouses over the circles, it has a tool tip (but I don't have a timestamp in a video to point at). I can't recall if that shows unmet civs or not.

It might be more than the era. It might be like when people were looking at the research values in the tech tree to figure out whether civs knew a tech.

In the Spain/Norway livestream this week, a key was visible for the tech tree @ 53:59 in the YouTube version (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjHZYnpCMx0). The key can be toggled. It was the first time I had seen that.
