Scriptures back Duggar actions

Was Jesus really the son of God, or was it someone else?

In early drafts of the Bible it was actually the other way around - God was the son of Jesus. But that didn't make it past the first focus group, which found the concept too confusing. A rewrite also removed the character of God's Godfather. This character was replaced with the Holy Spirit, but there wasn't enough time to write new dialogue, as the writer's guild went on strike at an unfortunate time.

And where does it say God was pleased with all these actions? The bible is full of good people doing bad things, bad people doing good things, good people doing good things and bad people doing bad things. This story to me seems like a history lesson to learn what not to do.

This is the problem with having bibles that just anyone can read. Some people will interpret them wrongly or even worse, not interpret them at all and just read everything literally.

I just find it super amusing the same people who will say oh man Christian's believe this cus they take the bible literally, will then defend parts of the Koran that say to slay infidels saying it's not literally and Muslims don't believe that. Or vice versa, Christian's who condemn all Muslims based on those passages and then try to pass their own bible off as metaphor.

This thread is a parody of the Koran bashing threads.

I'm actually rather glad that this Duggar fiasco has Jolly going back and reading the bible.

Old testament, Best testament.
Least we all forget that only Fathers can have sex with own Daughters, all other incest is an abomination against God. :yup:

One feature of all the lists is that sexual activity between a man and his own daughter is not forbidden

7 The nakedness of thy father, or the nakedness of thy mother, shalt thou not uncover: she is thy mother; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.
8 The nakedness of thy father's wife shalt thou not uncover: it is thy father's nakedness.
9 The nakedness of thy sister, the daughter of thy father, or daughter of thy mother, whether she be born at home, or born abroad, even their nakedness thou shalt not uncover.
10 The nakedness of thy son's daughter, or of thy daughter's daughter, even their nakedness thou shalt not uncover: for theirs is thine own nakedness.
11 The nakedness of thy father's wife's daughter, begotten of thy father, she is thy sister, thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.
12 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father's sister: she is thy father's near kinswoman.
13 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy mother's sister: for she is thy mother's near kinswoman.
14 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father's brother, thou shalt not approach to his wife: she is thine aunt.
15 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy daughter in law: she is thy son's wife; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.
16 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy brother's wife: it is thy brother's nakedness.
17 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter, neither shalt thou take her son's daughter, or her daughter's daughter, to uncover her nakedness; for they are her near kinswomen: it is wickedness.
18 Neither shalt thou take a wife to her sister, to vex her, to uncover her nakedness, beside the other in her life time.
19 Also thou shalt not approach unto a woman to uncover her nakedness, as long as she is put apart for her uncleanness.
20 Moreover thou shalt not lie carnally with thy neighbour's wife, to defile thyself with her.

What's the latest fanfic theory on the Bible, though?

Was Jesus really the son of God, or was it someone else? I think Jesus may have been a red-herring all along. I mean, it's a bit too obvious as a plot line, don't you think?

And all that sword and whip business...
I read a Doctor Who fanfic in which the Fourth Doctor ended up spending about 3 years in various Middle Eastern locales during the reign of Tiberius, due to a serious malfunction of the TARDIS. Part of the problem was that the atmosphere inside was toxic, so the Doctor couldn't spend very long at a time trying to fix it, and ended up living outdoors, locally.

He happened to come across various people in need of medical attention, and being a compassionate person, he helped them... and soon stories started going around about a miracle worker. Then he met a bunch of guys - some were fishermen, some had other professions, there were a few women, and these people insisted on following him around and asking questions. Finally, at some point it dawned on the Doctor just what was going on and he realized that to preserve history, he'd have to go through with being crucified.

Fast-forward to the end of the story... it wasn't a bad story, but the Roman guard stabbing his spear into one of the Doctor's hearts during his crucifixion should have been a grave enough injury to trigger a regeneration. But anyway, the Doctor survived and finally made it back to the TARDIS, finished repairing it, and since he'd already realized just whose life he had apparently been living all that time, he went looking for a New Testament (after all, with the sheer variety of stuff stashed away in the TARDIS storage closets, there must be one, right? Right.). He was curious to see what had become of the Apostles, and was rather sad to find out about Judas...

And where does it say God was pleased with all these actions? The bible is full of good people doing bad things, bad people doing good things, good people doing good things and bad people doing bad things. This story to me seems like a history lesson to learn what not to do.
In other words, like your average soap opera.
