Search Function disabled?

Perhaps I missed the annoucement a long time ago or missed the other thread complaining about this subject, or maybe it's just because it's been longer than I thought since I've used this feature, but searching the forums has been disabled.

I find this feature to be very useful. What was the reasoning for disabling it (though I think it has something to do with server woes), and are there plans to turn it back on in the future?

I am sure that searching was disabled again because of the server woes.

I don't feel like making an annoucenment everytime I disable the search function, because each time is temporary. I will re-enable it in a few days.

I don't think it's "Poly scrubs" again. Poly seems to be up.

What does Apolyton being down have to do with disabling the search feature? And what are "Poly scrubs"?

The last time Poly was down for an extended period, we got flooded with Apolytoners looking for their Civ-forum fix, which adds to the load on our servers. It's fair, the same thing happens in reverse when CFC goes down.

Yeah right...I flock to GameFAQs even more to make up for the forum time here. I've found some interesting stuff...tons of social boards that I could waste time at.

I came here after finding that the search was disabled...well at least that I have reassurance that it will be enabled in a few days.

I never notice when the search feature is down.... The only thing I've ever used it for was to search for my own name.... and that was because I got bored

Hehe, I once did that too (assuming you mean username), to see if anyone mentioned me. I was bored, of course.

hehe.. guess I shouldnt be surprised to be having threads shut down for "there is already an old thread about this in __ forum" since we can't find em ourselves. I do think the moderators should bear in mind whether search is on or off in how vigorously they patrol for duplicate threads.

Oh, I love the search function... there are some old discussions that I simply love checking again from time to time due to the most excellent arguments offered.

On the other hand, if we remember the old thread, and it is only on, say, page 2, you may have trouble convincing us that you couldn't look back one page to check for an old thread.
