Sengir03 - The Orwellian State

You might want to add a couple of destroyers to spot incoming subs. And only start nuking if you're sure that you can capture and proceed, otherwise, you're just wasting nukes.
 
We have destroyers at the moment (and in queue), I was thinking getting out enough b'ships to pair them with each destroyer for effectiveness. But more destroyers won't hurt.

Definitely yes on the second part though. Ideally I would like 12-15 nukes and enough gropo units before even starting my proposed assault.

Lads I think were boned, the Persians have stealth destroyers and missile destroyers as well as what we have. They are bombing us back to the stone age with missiles and have such control over the seas we can't get a surface force past them. I ran the gauntlet and lost my battleship + 4 destroyer escort.
I can run subs through all right, but what use are they unless we have troops to take out cities.
I'll finish my ten turns and report but frankly this is pretty close to over.

It got worse. My naval task force was completely wiped out trying to scramble back to shore. We got from Drafters to Heroic Epic and half-way across the ocean, then turned back. No chance.

On the last turn 491 to be exact ZY sneak attacked us and lanunched 4 nukes ICBM at cap and 3 tacs elsewhere. We're sitting ducks here.

I was too dispirited to take screenshots. But we're majorly boned. Any ship out of dock is attacked by missile cruisers or stealth destroyers and stormed. ZY has landed a proper SoD in Nippur, one I can't see us repulsing without being crippled.


Sorry for the despondancy, but I think we'll have to call this one a day and just die gracefully.

Darius also just lacks two SS parts and getting that 2nd shuttle out of the air will surely be a bit too much of a Challenger. :mischief:

:mischief:Indeed. The fact of the matter is that I am confident of getting a sub only fleet across to Darius, but a surface fleet is out of the question. I denuded my eastern seaboard to try and run that fleet across and it still got destroyed.
Probably a bit of :smoke: on my part stacking the subs with the surface fleet, but what else was there to do really. I had to get both components across, and there is more safety in numbers.

Actually, this wasn't that bad, though I should at least have at least disabled the UN, the emancipation anger was bad enough, stacking villain anger on top of it caused quite some trouble. Also, we were pretty sloppy in the middle part of the game (should have conquered our continent faster).
Nice to see that the AI manages reasonably well when left alone on a big enough island for long enough a time :D

How about a Civ5 simulation in Civ4? Disable espionage, no technology trading, can't remember if you can switch of religion. Agressive AI. May not stack any units, may not improve excessively good tiles (can farm unirrigated rice, but not farm irrigated corn) or if you do at least not work them. Every resource needed for building a military unit only serves for, say, 4 units that need that resource. Afterwards the resource needs to be disconnected. Building of roads is highly discouraged. Slider is permanently at 50-50 science/gold. Can't change civics. All AIs play as Sid (no leader traits). Of course only attack with horse units. Play at Warlord level and pretend it's Immortal.

Ugh. On 2nd thought, maybe you have a more enticing idea. :D

On religions, if you get a map-maker he/she can found all religions in cities before deleting those cities. That effecively turns off religion. And when you said "Play at Warlord level and pretend it's Immortal" I'm going to assume you meant play at settler and pretend it's deity.

I would be perfectly happy to play this to the bitter end if the team still wants.
