SGFN-09: Constantinople stands alone!

To the rescue! Here are 2 relevant pix:

City Manager:

Big picture:

In Barbaropolis, why don't we build walls then another worker?

Also, I noticed some jucy trades, since at least 1 civ doesn't have alphabet yet, and they will get it soon, we might as well sell it to them now and get a pretty penny.

Internet's been down all day, otherwise I would have checked here and played already. :(

With only 3 warriors and the Zulu close by, I wouldn't be surprised. Spearmen instead?

I'd rather temple (or, much better if we could get the tech in time, but I doubt we can, library) first, to bring the deer under our control and use. With the Spanish town 4 tiles away, there will be a culture fight over that tile that we'd like to win. (OK, there'll be another kind of fight later, but we're not ready for that yet).

Walls I wouldn't worry about. It'll grow reasonably quickly to size 7, and they'll be obsolete. A spearman, meh, maybe -- but if we're doing that I'd rather build a barracks first.

Can you pre-build the library with say a courthouse? Would it make sense to overbuild it?

Spoiler :
Pre: Do a little MMing to gain some shields in Constantinople, Get CAII up and running. Buy Iron Working from Aztecs for Alphabet and 8 gold. By Math from Greece for Iron Working and 7 gold. Switch Constaninople back to origional format so prebuild doesn't get to far, and it grows faster.

IBT: Nada

Turn 1 (1450 BC): Sell Math to Aztecs for 72 gold. Sell Math to Spain for Horseback Riding and 34 Gold. Sell Horseback Riding to Mongols, Russia, and Ottomans for 76 Gold, 25 Gold, and 15 Gold, respectively. The only civ I haven't taken all the gold is Greece, and that is because I have nothing to sell, except code of laws, which I am preserving. Otherwise, a boring turn.

IBT: Russia demands Writing, I cave. Ottomans start the Pyramids. Zulu start the Statue of Zeus.

Turn 2 (1425 BC): See orange borders.

IBT: Nada

Turn 3 (1400 BC): 2 tiles are roaded, workers move on.

IBT: Nada

Turn 4 (1375 BC): Nada

IBT: Aztecs demand Writing, they are isolated and won't ever attack us, but I cave anyway. Ott's request we move our galley, I say yes.

Turn 5 (1350 BC): I remember about the nice little hut near Constanople, and I send a warrior out to pop it. I also check the F8 screen, and we are on turn 66, this can't be, somebody must have played 11 turns. I will play 9.

IBT: Russians start Pyramids.

Turn 6 (1325 BC): I can move the slider all the way down to 30% for philosophy's last turn. :woohoo:

IBT: We get the Republic Slingshot. So:

Philo => Republic
Republic => Literature

Turn 7 (1300 BC): Hut pops barbs, that's just my luck. Start the Revolution. Constaninople will riot and there is nothing I can do about it.

IBT: Only the NW barb attacks but does no damage , the others fortify, I hate that bug, and NoAIPatrol doesn't seem to help.
Constaninople roits, shift to entertianers now that the city cannot starve.

Turn 8 (1275 BC): Our warrior attacks a barb, get's redlined, then wins, promotes to veteran.

IBT: Nada

Turn 9 (1250 BC): Move warrior.

I resign a turn early, in the interests of keeping it on the multiples of 10.

I only played 9 turns, since I noticed somebody else had gone a turn over.

Notes to next player:

Anarchy ends next turn, please pick the obvious choice for the new government.

I forgot to reappropriate the sliders, so that needs to be done.

We have a couple trade options, Greece has 133 gold, and Aztecs and Zulu each have 25. Nobody else has any. We are down no techs, and up Philosophy and CoL to everybody. We have 360 gold and 2gpt generated by a specialist that would be wasted otherwise.

I managed to more than double our gold with my trades in the first 2 turns, and I gained a bit lowering the slider on the last turn.

Heck, we can prebuild it with a temple! We're scientific! :)

Zulus starting SoZ is problematic; we should strive to get ivory up and SoZ built ASAP. The danger is that Pyramids get built and Zulus cascade into SoZ. That would suck.

We are only a couple turns out from finishing the roads, so our prebuild should work nicely. If not, well, we'll bridge that river when we get to it. I got a nice deal on Math and Iron Working, so I took it, no iron in sight though.

Roster:

1: Overseer => On Deck
2: Sparthage => In the Hole
3: Elephantium =>

5: DWetzel =>
6: GamezRule => Just Played
7: Aukrest => UP!

The last time Aukrest was on this site was December 28, so I think he can be marked MIA. In that case:

A cheese-less pizza, I earnestly hope?

It seemed like a good idea at the time. :(

Then it isn't pizza, it's just tomato bread.
