SGOTM 01 - Chaos

Ok, so it looks like we overexpanded, so in my turns I will attempt to rein that in. I still haven't gotten a chance to look at the save (won't until I play) but other than that any priorities? I'm thinking courts, markets, cottages, and letters are the way we need to go right now. Maybe some troopers thrown in as well, seeing as we are far down on the power rankings.

Alphabet - and trade for techs. Finish CoL first (if not already done). I would start a settler for the Northern flood plain / fishing city and settle if the economy can afford it. We should get cottages up and running on all flood plains as soon as possible.

BOLLOCKS! Exactly what I said then. Playing in a few hours.

Don't be boorish. You said other stuff before alphabet while I said alphabet first. It is little things like this that ruin a good picture or song. Please try and have a little flare.

Just trying to stay in character here. :p ;)

As am I - you just offended my artistic temperament. You know how sensitive us artistic types are ... Oh, I have to go have a marciano and a lie down.

Ok, two turns for Currency, then either 10 for alphabet or 13 for CoL. I must have read incorrectly, because I thought we had one or the other of CoL or currency. Anyway, I don't figure switching off the two turns left on currency is worth it.

Turn 1 - Send out two complete settlers
super far away to the doting Ghandi and his maple trees.

Turn 2 - Currency is in, and now letters will only take
8888 turns.

As for the rest of the turns, well I built lots of cottages, a few mines, a couple of pastures, cut some jungles down and started on a bunch of markets. Alphabet is due in 2 turns. We've also done a lot of exploring. A good portion of the Indian continent is explored.

As a final notice, I would like to say kudos to Ruff's dot map, well as far as the game is concerned. Both spots he reccomended the game did too.

Actually, I don't take any pride in that comment one little bit. It just reinforces the idea that human performers and artists can be replaced with idiot machines.

Elephantine must work the mine.
Adding 5 gpt to its shine.
Alphabet will then, next turn, be due.
No growth 'til the granary and lighthouse are new.

Change Helio to a library and be ready to whip.
It grows very fast and is much too hip!
The boys should be spending time with the books
rather than giving the girls such wanton looks.

Thebes needs a market to get more gold.
Our economy's growth will then be quite bold.
A boost to health is not a major concern.
The 'duct's a hammer bank while new techs are leaned.

Optics is now, once again, a key goal.
Circumnavigation will put Huayana in a hole.
Changing Cyrus to Christian will really help us
gain favor with Gandhi when we board the war bus.

I actually intended to put something such as "Take that as you may..." after that, but I got sidetracked and missed it. But either way, I don't think you have to worrry. City placement in a game and art are two very different things.

Roster:

I've been thinking about the team work that we have developed since turn one and I have to say that this has been one of the funnier teams. I cannot wait until we are finished and can lurk other threads. I suppose that they (the other teams) are just waiting to lurk ours too. Well, they can when we have won either by domination, diplomacy or any other means. They, and I include us in 'they' (or maybe I don't - it does get confusing), will just have to wait until after it is over.

Another thing, should we reduce the number of turns from 20 to 16 or 10? I don't think that this should change our game play one little bit.

Ok - that means that I am up. It has been about 3 weeks (feels like it). Will play tonight or tomorrow. Any suggestions?

I'm back. I haven't looked at the save yet, but we seem to be doing allright in getting our economy back on line. Next we should advantage of our great production and finish of cyrus . We will need catapults for that.
Find out how cyrus stands millitary. If he is weak, we might exploit it. Razing and pillaging can get us a lot of gold, which we need badly.

Hi All - I am just back from a successful tour where my play (did I tell you that I am the lead too) was a hugh smash hit. Anyway, while I was touring, I took the chance to encourage our population to put their shoulder's to the wheel. The wisemen also informed me that we learned alphabet and priesthood - they also were mumbling something about iron and magnatism so they could use a compass (please don't ask me - I have no idea what they are talking about).

I also conducted some very lucrative trade deals with Cyrus (Currency for Monarch + 130g), Cyrus again (wheat for cows), Gandhi (code of laws for calendar + 20g). Finally, I encouraged people to finish the markets and to get cracking on courthouses.

Happiness is a bit of an issue but we got monarchy and calendar that are helping on that front. If we convert all of our cities, that will also help. Health is only an issue in 1 or 2 cities (mainly flood plain prone cities).

And here are some pictures to help you get a feel for the current state of the game ...

Score - don't worry about the drop in score, I whipped away a few population points completing markets.

Gold - starting to look better ...

Stats ...
SGOTM01-sc-032.jpg

Religious position - we have to stay budda (Ganhdi is Budda) so we have to spread this around our cities ...
SGOTM01-sc-033.jpg

Relationship with Gandi - looking good ...
SGOTM01-sc-035.jpg

Units ... not so hot ...
SGOTM01-sc-034.jpg

And finally ... look who I found? And guess who is teching really quickly - about 6 techs up on us. Also note the fishing boat on a 'goto'. We should have had a boat at that spot before we founded that city.

I played to 650 AD to make the dates even. There is now 450 turns left.
We have discovered the compass. Neither Ghandi nor Cyrus has got it yet, so we might get something good, trading for it.
It is obviously huyanas borders there to our east. I set research to construction so that we can lay waste on Inca lands with catapults.
No beakers have been invested yet so it is up for discussion.

Do you guys feel like we can take on Huyana Capac in our current siuation?
I say :ar15: . Even though we are technologically a bit behind, catapults will be big trouble for the Inca jerk. Maybe we can trade feudalism with ghandi and attack with longbows and swords or something.

Sorry for the delay and the somewhat less colorful report than usual.

Great work oh general whipping boy of the Chaos clan. I only have one small tiny question and one BIG request.

How far a we behind in tech?

If we decide to attack our mortal enemy i suggest we try to scout his land first. Then build the biggest army ever and end his pitiful life.

Lurker's comment:

Being able to construct some ships actually capable of crossing that ocean strait might be a minor prerequisite. Failing that, maybe if you build those catapults big enough, hurling troops across the seas could be a viable option. :D

Anyhow, this lurker just wanted to say that I'm really enjoying your noble quest for... chaotic supremacy. Carry on!
